  1. When Golden Delicious appeared and voiced (and later revealed to be voiced by Peter New), did anyone have a "Tracy Turnblad" or "Edna Mode" moment? XD

There are going to be so many hillbilly jokes thanks to Goldie.

  2. The "-licious" reference was a much better way to attract the older audience, but the DustyKatt reference got me LOL'ing. XD

  3. Is still feeling rather disappointed and upset he lost over 600 brohooves. :(

No one knows. It may be a bug related to the server crash, but that is speculation.

  4. Is rather sad he lost over 600 brohooves. :(

  5. In anticipation to tomorrow's episode, I'm listening to Apples to the Core (a.k.a., best Season 4 song).

Well I like all the songs this season this is just the one I've been the most looking forward to

Apples to the Core is one of those songs you are reminded of once and it's stuck in your head for hours.

  6. Sorry, but I'm not interested in bowing down before Princess Bitchquick. Donut Joe, however, doesn't make his donuts out of a box. They're homemade and gourmet! He'd put Sunset outta business! Now, bow before your god!
  7. As Sunset has the interest of a bland piece of pancake, Donut Joe is much more interesting and gets the vote instead. So how about a pic of Donut Joe being classy enough to give his fine mare some wine? Link to the image.
  8. In all episode discussion threads, instead of four options in the episode poll (with "disliking" basically being lumped into "hating" or being "okay" with it, can there be a fifth that says, "No, I don't like it"?

But then wouldn't "I loved it!" be redundant, too? ;)

(And on a personal note, I only disliked two episodes this season [one of them mildly], but not enough to actually HATE them, which is why I only selected "It was okay" for both. I'm sure there are others who fit the same category.)

I'm going to leave the polling alone for this week's episode, but I will confer with CD -- my partner in crime when it comes to making episode threads -- regarding your suggestion.

  9. Just because they don't see it doesn't mean it's not there. Major quality flaws that can break the story become more and more obvious upon further viewings. Besides characterization, whether the pace is good or not tends to be one of the first, and KCaFO's and MMC's poor pacing was immediately noticeable.
  10. At least three episodes needed two parts: Keep Calm and Flutter On. Here's the full explanation (from my review): The central flaw in that episode really hurt its objective quality. To claim the poor pace as a "nitpick" is ridiculous. If the central flaw was erased and the episode flowed well, then Discord's redemption would've been half as convincing. Expanding it into a 48-hour two-parter would've been an objectively better backbone and, thus, give both Antonio and Polsky the better ability to write a better KCaFO. Magical Mystery Cure: Two gigantic ideas were cramped into one twenty-minute session, and you can tell how fast the episode was going simply by dumping the exposition and cramming all of the songs (many cut for time) to fit it all. The pace was the central flaw, because everything leading up to it went boom, boom, boom with no time to breathe or build up. I wrote a rough plan to rewrite it (as a two-parter) here. Power Ponies: The entire episode is so poorly structured, I'm forced to take back my claim of this being a good Spike episode. You have a radically new environment with the Mane Six gaining completely different powers, all of whom got used to their new powers too quickly. When you have Spike's role contained in repetitive expositions every three minutes, you're telling your audience how sloppy the pace is. Then you have character progression, interaction, and development sacrificed for explosive action; characterization and fantasy violence don't coexist too well most of the time, and in self-contained episodes, they look worse. Making PoP a two-parter would've expanded Maretropolis, given Mane-iac better ability to develop, and give the three writers better capability to interact characterization, action, and the moral without sacrificing quality.
  11. @@Shoboni, She WROTE the first three episodes (Ticket Master with AKR), but she was heavily involved in the first half of Season 2 and scaled back once it hit the halfway point. Faust really contributed to episodes like The Return of Harmony, Lesson Zero (presumably), Luna Eclipsed, and Hearth's Warming Eve.
  12. That's funny. Last night, I had nearly 1,700 brohoofs. Now I'm under 1,100.

  13. What Apple Bloom said >>> the forced Grumpy Cat last week. >__>

  14. >sees clip of Pinkie Apple Pie >The Grumpy Cat meme was ripped off and truly pandered to the older crowd. While this brony reference is fanservice-y, it blends into the canon much better.

  15. I lean to the left on so many political ideals, but I'll never, for the life of me, support the legalization of weed.

  16. Even with Maddux, Glavine, and Thomas getting in, you gotta feel for Craig Biggio. Missing the cut by TWO votes! He'll have plenty of chances, but it won't be easy next year with Randy Johnson, John Smoltz, and Pedro Martinez enterring the ballot.

Biggio should have gotten in last year too. :/

  17. Congratulations to Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and Frank Thomas on getting elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame!

  18. Greg Maddux Tom Glavine Jack Morris Tim Raines Craig Biggio Mike Piazza Roger Clemens Barry Bonds Mike Mussina Jeff Bagwell (If I had fifteen choices instead of ten:) Fred McGriff Edgar Martinez Mark McGwire Sammy Sosa Rafael Palmeiro
  19. So far, she's the breakout character. While the others have been inconsistent (*cough*Twilicorn and Spike*cough*), minus her role as background pony in Daring Don't, she's been up and center in so many hilarious roles, from wearing the hazmat suit to stay away from the vampire fruit bats (with a hilarious first-person perspective), restoring the castle by trespassing into it (and suffering some delicious karma), and Generosity's reprise.
  20. Copy and paste the link of the post (or page where it is), blog, or profile to Google. In Google should be a green link under the clickable link. Click on the arrow next to it to reveal the dropdown menu. If the dropdown menu says "Cache," click on it to reveal a "snapshot" of your work from sometime ago. Copy the text and paste it in place. (If you can't, you can report it to staff and see if it's stored in their archives.)
  21. The Rainbow Power designs are very bad for one primary reason: They're so noisy. The bright colors clash way too much with the characters' set palette. The very bright colors don't work on Twilight, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, or Applejack because they're so bright, it hurts the eyes. The only one that actually looks tolerable is Fluttershy because of her muted imagery. It widens the color palette so much, the characters become unmemorable. Besides the simple silhouette, each character has a specific color palette they adhere to. When you see one color, your brain immediately thinks of that character. Each character uses only a few colors because less is more. Good character design is like a good logo; the simpler the design, the better they can remember it. Here, this obvious toy plugin is trying to go the opposite, and that hurts the characters' images. For several characters, the designs are very out of character. Despite being a flaunt, Rarity is also a very reserved character and wouldn't enjoy having all of the extremes clashing her. The same can be said for Twilight and Applejack. There are so many nuances, the designs become way too complicated. You have all of these details on the face, hooves, mane, tail, horn, muzzle, and flank. The more details the characters have, the busier they look, and the more distracting the designs become.
  22. I don't know. From the way the toys are being promoted, they seem to be only a temporary thing. We'll have to see once the designs appear.
  23. I wonder who'll be elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in two days. (I'd vote for Maddux, Glavine, Morris, Raines, Biggio, Piazza, Clemens, Bonds, Mussina, and Bagwell.)
