Is the title ''Brony'' deteriorating?
KarentheUnicorn replied to LordDiscord's topic in Sugarcube Corner
Stupid...really? I've been into MLP since 1983. So if we don't assume the brony title or accept it and join the herd we are stupid and contradicting? I've liked MLP for 30 years, that some people just decided to start liking in the last 3 and decided to make up a 'group name' for it means I'm supposed to be a brony??? Just because some people want to call themself brony? People that watch the FIM cartoon are deciding things like this for me? And because I don't accept the title for myself I'm one of the stupid and contradictory people? I don't define liking MLP by what happened in the last 3 years. It's like telling me I have to change my name to something else because a lot of people think I'm supposed to be called that name. Sorry, it doesn't work for me and if you feel like it's stupid or contradictory then that's your problem. -
Is the title ''Brony'' deteriorating?
KarentheUnicorn replied to LordDiscord's topic in Sugarcube Corner
You probably need to ask yourself why the title matters so much. I know a lot of people who liked my little pony before the term beony came into existance who don't call themself brony (myself included). There was already an existing community of people who like MLP so I can't speak for the people who apparently need the title to fit in with a community...but the rest of us are doing fine without a title. I've never needed to call myself something just because I like mlp. I've never needed a label to join in online or in person with others who like MLP. So why does it really matter one way or the other? If some people like MLP but don't assume the brony label why does it matter? -

Becoming A Brony Because Of The Fandom And Not The Show

whoohoo!!! While I was on vacation I got Pinkie and Rainbow Dash (already had Fluttershy). So I'm going to get Rarity when she comes out. And I love the new build a bear setup with the new computer system, all build a bear do not have this so it's worth it to find the one with the new computer system. You can customize the animals personality on the certificate. Yea, it's a little cheesy and kiddyfied but you're building a toy so no point in complaining if you're an adult, but I thought the new system made it a much better experience; plus the ability to customize makes it more unique. Plus you can choose how the certificate looks so you can make it an actual mlp certificate. Also the sound is worth it if you can do it with the new computerized system, because it's not the theme song actually has 6 different quotes the ponies can say each time you push the button. I bought a fluttershy one and when I go back I'm going to have them put it in my fluttershy; the lady told me surgery is free! (haha) I was looking on build a bear's website and noticed that they already have a brown cowboyish type hat, if they didn't make a hat specially for her they may either use this one or, one could substitute. Not sure if the link will work but I'll add it below http://www.buildabear.com/shopping/store/Brown-Cowbear-Hat-/productId=prod82032

Would a 7yr old girl enjoy a convention?
KarentheUnicorn replied to Rarity Paige Belle's topic in Sugarcube Corner
Actually the My Little pony Fair Collectors Convention is for all ages, so it's kid friendly and it usually has lots of kids; It's for all generation of MLP however so you're gonna get a healthy dose of all generations of MLP. But children are welcome at the Fair and I would say it's probably a more kid friendly atmosphere. I think the costume contest at the fair actually has a kid section and there are games at the fair that kids can participate in. The fair is also more focused on the brand in general, so there is a lot of focus on stuff, toys, etc. -
How many my phony pony products are out there?
KarentheUnicorn replied to Rarity Paige Belle's topic in Merchandise
For a little history...There have actually been fakies since the begining back in the 80s. In the MLP collecting community the non official hasbro pony toys are called fakies. As in fake ponies, non hasbro. The term probably came into existance because at least back in the day fakies were very cheap looking compared to official hasbro produced g1 ponies. And sometimes kinda ugly...and even back then we kids knew they were not real mlp so we called them fake...thus the term fakie came into existance. At some pony meets we even have a game called wack a fakie...where you pick a fake pony toy an your weapon of choice to see who can hit the fake pony the furthest. Generally fakies are viewed as inferior to real mlp but there are actually quite a few collectors of mlp who like to also have a herd of fakies. As a mlp collector you can run into people who try to pass off a fakie as a real mlp. Just like any other toy there are plenty of fakies out there and you have to know mlp to know the difference. -
Can this generation of MLP last?
KarentheUnicorn replied to Rarity Paige Belle's topic in Sugarcube Corner
My little pony is a brand that has lasted for over 30 years now. Going through 4 different toy changes, 5 if you consider the 3.5 as a separate thing. Gen 1 lasted about 10 years in the USA. Since I'm more a fan of the whole brand I really am not all that picky on how long g4 will last. More like I just hope it continues even into a g5. . -
Actually there are seaponies and merponies in g1. In the toy line there were adult any baby sea ponies. And then there was a set of 3 baby merponies; sadly in the g1 line there were no adult merponies sold. However in g3 there was a line of merponies but in the tiny ponyville size. There are actually a lot of people who make custom ponies who have created some awesome merponies out of the toys. Id love to see them make some sea or mer in the g4 line.

Will Hasbro Ever Give Their Toys Show-Accurate Faces?
KarentheUnicorn replied to Castle Bleck's topic in Sugarcube Corner
I'd just rather they make more brushable hair ponies, not plastic hair. I'm not all that concerned with having something that is 'show accurate'. It's not really the reason I got into MLP, well there was no show/cartoon when I got into MLP. So the idea of show accurate in reference to MLP always seems very weird to me. -

Why I'm turning my back on FiM!
KarentheUnicorn replied to Twilight Mist's topic in Sugarcube Corner
Wow, I hope you are joking because if you believe what you wrote...it just comes across as both ignorant and elitist at the same time. turn off her brain...mkay. I think probably part of the problem is FIM fans feel the need to compare the G3 cartoon to G4. Hasbro representatives told us back when G3 was being produced that the G3 cartoons were made for younger children, because we asked why it was different from G1, why was it more simplistic in plot and story. Add into that that a majority of the previous generation fans do not view MLP ONLY through cartoon glasses. People like me, who are pre-FIM view it as a brand and the cartoon is just an accessory to the toy line. The Hasbro rep also made comment that they thought the G1 cartoon with the 'bad guys' would be too intense for younger children so they did the direct to video G3 stufff or younger kids. So to compare G3 to G4 or even G1 doesn't really work if you ask me; especially since hasbro explained why they did the G3 programs the way they did. It's like trying to compare cartoons that a 1-2 year old likes to watch and then trying to get 10 year olds to watch it. -
