Grey oppressive clouds hung over the lake side city of Chicago, giving the skyscrapers a haunted look as they vanished into the mist. Down on the ground business men and women dressed in drab colors hurried along their way without paying attention to anything but getting from one point to another. One of these many people was a man by the name of Doug Brindly walked casually down the sidewalk, hands in his pockets and kicking a stray soda can on the ground. Many would think Doug was some kind of low class bum without a job, partly true yes but he was indeed working. The city around him was giving Doug the inspiration for his next book, maybe something dystopian he began thinking before tossing the idea out, that wasn’t a good idea it just seemed that kind of story was getting mainstream these days.
Rounding his way around one of the blocks he passed an alleyway, one like any other in the sprawling cityscape but this one was going to change Doug’s life that day. “TWILIGHT!!! APPLEJACK!!! FLUTTERSHY!!! RAINBOW DASH!!! RARITY!!! SPIKE!!! WHERE ARE YOU, EVERYPONY?!!” a loud and rather obnoxious voice shouted from in the alleyway. The man stopped in his tracks and looked about the small passage between the buildings. There was a young woman, about his age, standing there with a pink shirt, jeans and the wildest looking hair he’d ever seen. ‘What in Gods name is she shouting about’ Doug thought to himself, curious he cautiously moved his way towards her.
This was Chicago after all maybe this girl got lost, he thought, but from her appearance Doug could make an assumption that she was on something. “Hey miss are you alright? Do you need any help?”
