    She can't affect things in the future? We can all affect things in the future. If I drop a ball, then at some point in the future it will hit the ground. Besides which, Twilight has shown herself perfectly happy to create paradoxes. For example, she was told where to find the time travel spell by her future self, found the time travel spell, then used it to travel back in time and tell her past self where to find the spell. Paradox. A paradox is only created in time travel if the cause of something happens after its effect. (As in the example above.) Though there's this whole light cone thing where if you travel not just back in time, but also far enough in space, you can do whatever the hell you like - even destroy the universe - without creating a paradox.

    OK, so hypothetical Twilight vs Superman. First, Twilight does this: Second, Superman is incapacitated by cutegasm. Third, Twilight travels back in time (she can - It's About Time). Fourth, Twilight destroys Superman as a baby.

    Steven Jay Gould's essay on the cuteness of Mickey Mouse is worth a read. Gould was a highly influential evolutionary biologist, and commonly wrote articles on popular science like this. A quote from the essay: Gould also notes that although Mickey's snout is the same length now as when he was first drawn, the snout has become fatter making it seem less long. The ponies have been drawn in such a way to achieve maximum possible cuteness. Compared to normal horses they have: large head size to body size ratio small snouts large eyes These features are practically lifted straight out of Gould's essay and transplanted into MLP:FIM. Add the bright colours, fancy hairstyles and feminine voices and we're hooked!

    OK, here's the moment just before the arms-in-front-of-faces shot: (I did take one just after as well, but it didn't come out great. The rainbow shock wave effect thing occurs at that point, which although beautiful, is a lot of detailed motion which results in compression artifacts being visible if you take a still. )

    Granted, but you can only travel forward in time. And only at the same speed that we were already travelling forward in time. I wish they'd make another changeling MLP:FIM episode.
