  1. Yes, definitely. When I started watching the show I was really into Rainbow Dash. I was attracted to her energy and nice color scheme. I've come full circle with RD's character. After the "honeymoon period" I got sick of listening to her brag and one up everyone. The Wonderbolts Acadamy episode helped to improve my attitude about her. Little by little I got to like her again. When I first started watching the show I did not like Rarity. She is such a drama queen and seemed at the time only interested in superficial beauty. She also seemed a snob and short-tempered to me. My mother was like that, and mean to boot. And we never got along. But several episodes showed me that there was more to Rarity than that. Pinkie Pie was another one who irritated me at first. Even her name irritated me. She just seemed like a noisy little airhead. And her tendency to shove her whole face in her food was a bit off-putting. After awhile I began to realize that I was seeing traits in all these characters that I dislike about myself - and my friends. I further realized that I was being over-critical. We are what we are. And accepting the things that you dislike about individuals - ponies or people - can allow you to see and appreciate what good qualities they have. I realized that I've never been very good at acceptance of things that can annoy me and looking past them to get to the good stuff. MLP really helped me with that, and now I am very fond of all the Mane Six, as well as many other ponies, and my friends in real life have noticed. And some have even mentioned to me that I am easier to get along with since I've been a Brony. (Jeez... This is sounding like one of Twilight Sparkle's letters to Princess Celestia) I'm closing on 63, and I've "hated" Xmas and little kids most of my life. Now I find myself talking to kids - usually about MLP - and Xmas didn't annoy me nearly so much this year. Pinkie Pie is coming close to replacing Rainbow Dash as Best Pony for me. Who'd 'a thunk it?
  2. A bit OT, but I once busted my doctor for wearing a Starfleet uniform under her white, semi transparent lab coat. Turns out her sister was Michael Dorn's significant other. How cool is that? A Klingon for a brother-in-law...
  3. Yeah, of course she is. Why is that a problem? It gives her character an edge. Just like Rainbow Dash being insufferably competitive and egotistical. RD is a good pony in spite of being an irritating little sh*t. That's why we love her. Same with Rarity. When push comes to shove, both have the right priorities. But like real people they can be a PIA at times. It makes them individuals. How boring would it be if they were sweet and agreeable all the time...? My last purchase of pony merch was a Rarity, even though she is probably my least favorite of the mane six. She's still a great pony and absolutely hilarious at times. The Rarity I bought is her drama queen side in spades... Pitch a fit, Rarity. We will love you anyway!
  4. e-bay. Ships from England. $41.94 including shipping. http://www.ebay.com/itm/111566547472?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT The ad says there's 3 left.
  5. Big Macintosh. In fact he's my 3rd favorite pony. Got a stuffie of him a couple of days ago from England. He's just so darn sweet...
  6. Is there anyone who knows if the mane six have known birthdays? Pony birthdays would be great excuses for pony parties and such...
  7. Pinkie Pie's Smile Song Pinkie Pie's Laughter Song Hearts as Strong as Horses
  8. I get all my shirts at We Love Fine. I buy men's T-shirts, and they have men's sizes up to XXXL for most designs and the best artwork I've seen. http://www.welovefine.com/41-my-little-pony
  9. I alternate wearing MLP and non-MLP shirts all the time. I had the amusing experience awhile back of being in a three cornered conversation with a 6-year-old girl and her rather bemused mom about who we thought was best pony and second best pony. The conversation started in front of our local grocery store when I stopped to pet their dog. The mom said to her daughter, "Look, that lady has a unicorn on her shirt." I explained that it wasn't a unicorn, it was a pegasus pony from MLP. It was the hysterical. I'm old enough to be the mom's mom, and she is listening attentively while I explain about Rainbow Dash. The 6-year-old is nodding sagely all the while. It was kinda surreal... So yeah, I wear my pony shirts, hats, wristbands, and whatever else I have all the time. Never get any grief.
  10. My Little Pony 2015 16-Month Wall Calendar I was very disappointed in this calendar. My biggest complaint is that the paper is so thin you can see right through it to what's printed on the other side of the page. The artwork of the ponies is good enough, but the surrounding layouts look like they were done by a first-grader. The numbers on the date grid are hard to read from any distance. Altogether it's a do-over. I took it down and got a different calendar - the Mark Barrett Gypsy Vanner calendar.
  11. Nope, that's what I paid. The paint job looked especially good. One of the big draws of the piece for me. I've seen blindbag ponies that looked like they had been painted with a slingshot. Yuk!
  12. You're absolutely right. I screwed up. I liked the item so well I just hit that "buy it now" button, and then went back and scrutinized the page. I didn't see the dreaded words "from China", and it wasnt cheap, either. So I was hoping I hadn't just bought a knock-off. Thanks for your input. I still feel guilty for not checking first, but I'm glad to know I haven't bought a knock-off.
  13. I just bought a vinyl Applejack bank made by Diamond Select. Does anyone know if these items are licensed? I got it on e-bay. Description did not include measurements. Looks much better that the Chinese knockoffs I've seen - providing that the one I ordered looks as good as the one in the picture. There is a fairly long lag time before the item ships. Est. shipping date Feb. 16, '15. This item was describe as a "pre-order." Never run into that before either. Will update when the item arrives.
  14. When I turned 21 - 41 years ago - I threw a party for myself. I rented half of a Chinese restaurant and sent invitations a week before. Free food was offered. I was so excited! I had invited about 20 people. Nobody showed up. Nobody. I pink-slipped all of them and set about building a new group of friends. The point of this story is that MLP is something that no true friend would ditch you for. Including girlfriend. If these people can't accept you for being a Brony, how will they stack up when the chips are down and you need real friends? I chose my new friends very carefully and when I started getting into MLP I made no secret of it. Some of my friends thought it was funny, some thought it was a little odd, and some got into it with me. But none of them were put off, or judgemental about it. If you lose a friend because you are a Brony, then you haven't lost much. And you've gained a wonderful supportive Brony family! Bronies rock - and now you are one! Have yourself a Pony little Xmas!
  15. There's a whole raft of people who don't get that animation is not just "cartoons" any more. To them it's "baby stuff." If they don't know you, they may think you're a dope. If they know you well enough to know you're not a dope, they jump to "pervert." Most high-end animation nowadays is layered to resonate with several different age demographics. But those stuck-in-the-"cartoon"-paradigm people think animation has no intellectual substance, artistic merit or spiritual value. It doesn't help that the earlier generations of MLP had no pith or moment. Air. Pink, insipid, meaningless air, made to sell cutesy toys to little girls. Up until a few months ago, if someone said to me, "My Little Pony" I would have pictured the saccharine tone and characters of the old ponies. Lauren Faust changed all that for My Little Pony. It's no small feat to create a show that week after week, month after month, can entertain and instruct both the very young and adults as well. The wake-up call for me was the documentary film, "Bronies: The Unexpected Adult Fans of "My Little Pony." Seeing the universally warm, human response by the fans to the show, its creators and each other was a revelation. I was hooked. I went out and bought all four seasons of the show, and I'm halfway through them for the 2nd time. If you can get some of your family/friends to watch the film, they might come around. If you could jot down things about why you like MLP, and read it to them after the film, you just might get through to them. Of course, some will never get it. That's life. Hang in there - and, have yourself a Pony little Xmas!
  16. Talking ponies is good. Talking religion is a waste of time - not because religion is a waste of time, but because you're either on the bus or off the bus. If you're on the bus, party on. If you're off the bus, try not to get run over by it. Talking about it between camps nearly always devolves into "I know you are, but what am I?" I am a fairly recent import into Equestria, but I get that there are people who judge adults for being "pony-heads." I'm a 62 year old woman who gets raised eyebrows and rolling eyes all the time when I'm wearing pony t-shirts, etc.. Meh. Who cares? That said, I get it that there is a whole 'nother level of hostility aimed at adult male Bronies. And no, it's not fair that women can be football fans, into Transformers, or join the Army without being thought perverts. My advice? Get with other Bronies. Here, in real life meet-ups, and at cons. The good feelings and reinforcement generated by these interactions will cause the negative crapola of haters and paranoid types to just roll off. And yeah, growing a thicker skin helps. But think about it... Balance the positive that you get from MLP, against the negative from those poor souls living a bleak, pony-less existence and be grateful that you had what it took to get into MLP.
  17. Oh, c'mon! You're not just another person... You're a Brony. An we all got hearts as strong as horses. Congratulations and welcome!
  18. You bet I do! When I look at my MLP figures, stuffies, patches, T-shirts, rubber bracelets, and sticker book, I always SMILE. You can't put a price on that. Ponies are positive. Pony merch is a reminder of what MLP is all about - friendship and feeling good, about life, and about myself. My figures and stuffies are on a shelf near the head of my bed, so they are the last thing I see before I go to sleep, and the first thing I see in the morning. Life is good!
  19. Whiskers! Whiskers! And don't forget the eyebrow whiskers.
  20. I like your Fluttershy best. It really captures her spirit. Are you going to color her?
  21. Welll. I kinda do have a job as an artist, protographer and writer. But this is my first pony. And Thanks! ETA If you wat to see my art and sample the writing from the two books go here: http://booandzephyr.blogspot.com/ The first book is being made into an animted film. They have an option on the sequel.
  22. Possible problems I see here are body too long, head too small, wings poorly placed. But heck, I'm not going to fuss too much this time around... Whaddaya think? ETA This is a preliminary pencil sketch. I have to clean it up and ink, then into the computer for color. Sketch was scanned at 300 DPI and I put a Fractalius filter on it. Used reference photos if Toshiro Mifune, and also used a reference pics of Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, and Jin from Samurai Champloo. Hope you like it!
