  1. To be honest, not a fan of it. Its "Okay", but... its nothing special. Its got a catchy beat, but the Lyrics ("be awesome!") are kind of hokey. This isn't too bad as dash is REALLY good, but DAMNIT, celaneo is really just not good at singing; it sounds more like she's talking than actually singing. she really drags the song down.
  2. No, not starlight and 5 other ponies, The mane six as the stand ins for the legends that beat the shadow pony, and Starlight glimmer being related in some way to the pony of shadows (like a descendant of it)
  3. They don't need to retcon the items to 8 if they wank it in the same way they look to be wanking Meadowbrook being an eastern unicorn (as far as I can tell, the "eastern unicorns" must refer to ponies she associated with like mistmane and not herself). the items don't need to have been owned by meadowbrook HERSELF, just something she dealt with, kind of like saying "flash magnus and his dragons" would be a correct way to refer to dragons in HIS story despite them not being owned by him specifically. So 2 or more of the items could just have been ones that meadowbrook sealed away or dealt with in the past to make it work. Technically that is
  4. Well, Tirek had HIS schtick stolen by nightmare moon, so they kind of had to do something with him granted, Storm king is ripping off tirek's plan as well since his entire plot is "Steal all the alicorn magic in equestria" too. The shadowrealm you say? Well, there's always the EQG tactic and give the other 5 small magical upgrades in some way while giving twilight a "buff" that's actually just something that she could do already or something AJ: party tank Pinkie: buff bot Fluttershy: Healer RD: Loot ninja Rarity: guild leader's girlfriend who does nothing the entire time (Okay, utility DPS) Twilight: Ranged dps
  5. I think the most we got was RD's song snippet.
  6. Starlight could be a stand in for the Pony of shadows though, such as it possessing her (ala midnight sparkle/Sunset satan/ect., a character temporarily insane and evil due to an outside influence), or even be a DESCENDANT of the pony of shadows (since we know that they had kids in the past and the other descendant, shadowlock, was incredibly powerful). So even if the other 6 are connected to or analogues to the legends of the past, there's plenty of ways to make the Finale still feature or heavily revolve around starlight (as an example, if she acts as a pony of shadows analogue, she could show that "defeating" the pony was the wrong thing to do and instead befriend it as an ex villain herself) I'm HOPING she's not in it, but don't count your chickens too soon.
  7. its the first movie for the normies who've never seen MLP before, hasbro wouldn't want to bring out new stuff since for like 50% of the audience this will be the first time they'll ever see a sonic rainboom.
  8. Eh, at this point I think McCarthy more or less is just going to go with "Twilight's not immortal" as her default canon just to avoid the headache. and since it's never going to come up in the show, she has the upside of just needing to make vague comments about it not mattering or not outliving her friends to side step the issue (since they're trying to be as vague as possible about alicorn lore and specifics)
  9. Well not YET with our medical knowledge.... Biologically, it should be perfectly 100% possible to chop off two people's arms and switch them so long as they have the same Blood type and its done freshly; we can reattach fingers that have been chopped off back on people after all, and we can do organ swaps. The main issue is just getting the nerve endings reconnected so they work.
  10. Kind of wish pinkie had gained the Random ability to summon party cannons out of thin air instead (with them just kind of poomphing out of existence afterward) Absurdly random, but perfectly in character for her.
  11. WAT. Seriously, have you seen the crap twilight can do with telekinesis? She grabs entire rooms of people and holds them still at the drop of a hat. (Castle sweet castle and Hoof fields and McCoys) and has done incredibly complicated telekinesis shows (see magic duel when she's doing aerial shows with fluttershy's animals), not to mention the raw strength of her telekinesis (in how much she can lift, or rebuilding the dam in seconds) Rarity is more social and good at fashion, but rarity is definitely at the shallow end of the magical pool compared to twilight-- the only time she's been halfway comparable is with either radiance power or the inspiration manifestation powers, both of which were powered explicitly by creativity. as for other "combat abilities", rarity has kicked someone, and that's it-- Its not really anything special, combat wise.
  12. Would you rather they have not had the girls specifically have any magic except the (poorly defined) ability to create a rainbow? Its less spectacular but also less confusing with "what can they can cannot they do" now with their abilities IMO.
  13. While not the best example, twilight's kingdom had simply getting through the forest more or less the way to "beat" the problem; putting the EOH back in the tree was the "Win" condition, but The real hurdle to doing that was making it through the Forest itself and its dangers. They could always have a situation where they need to make it through a maze or other such fortress to claim a macguffin or destroy and object to beat the villain, and Plot tailor the Trials and defenses so that they're best handled by the mane six. Kind of like the Pilot but done a little better, such as having one area guarded by a Monster that fluttershy deals with, and having a security system/defense later on that needs Dash to fly through to break or turn off (like a bunch of magically produced electrical storms in a room with a central orb in the middle that creates them, that dash could fly through and smash). (On that note, I think that's what The crystal empire SHOULD have been, instead of twilight leaving the others behind while she went off on a solo adventure, have had her learn her lesson gradually as each of the six was required to beat defenses left by sombra that she alone couldn't beat, with her complaining the entire time until she had an epiphany) Alternatively, do a "dwindling party" Kind of thing where the villain is a GROUP of villains, with a bunch of Lieutinants to the mane villain of differing abilities and the mane six each break off one by one to deal with them while the others continue on ahead, kind of like how in the end of Outlaw star the group ended up dueling specific foes or how in one piece each of the straw hats usually break up to fight villains of differing strengths. I think everyone liked how RR did the EOH That being said, I hesitate to specifically call it rainbow power, since it was just how the mane six were exhibiting their EOH magic at that time while rainbow power explicitly was in the box in equestria.
  14. She WAS you mean; S5 onward has throttled AJ's intelligence down majorly; look at her in episodes like AJ's day off, Honest apple or Pony point of view. Its like she got hit in the head with a shovel while drunk. I kind of wonder if this has anything to do with a "vegeta" style character to twilight showing up (Starlight to Pony twi, and sunset to human twilight) and taking over the role of "Secondary leader". Eh, none of that really matters against villains besides chrysalis: She's basically the ONLY villain who's power mainly stemmed from having an army behind her, giving the writers a "Variable" power level to throw at the heroes (you can have the weaker members fight maybe 1-2 changelings and then have twilight fighting about 20-30), all the other villains have been "SIngular God entity). One of the reasons why they're probably going with storm king having an army in the Movie-- the other 5 can at least fight some mooks to make them seem like they're helping out. I mean, this is probably why Twilight got MAJORLY nerfed in equestria girls in the power department LOE onward-- She has telekinesis, and that's IT, the most basic of Unicorn magic, while the others got legitimate magical abilities. I mean, to give another example, twilgiht was actually NERFED in power ponies by her Super hero form (matter horn's freeze ray is hilarious weaker than everything that twilight's shown up to that point) while the others still got super powers to equal that As thing stand, its just really, REALLY hard to justify the other 5 as anything other than a cheer squad for Twilight or Glimmer when push comes to shove, which just annoys people even MORE as "power batteries" is a pretty insulting job (Look at how remane 5 fans were irked at the end of Friendship games for example) The thing is, back in S1/S2, even S3 this wasn't really so bad, as twilight's spells screwed up constantly and she seemed alot weaker than she is now (Look at how she would rarely teleport on demand back then and it seemed to tire her out, while now she can SPAM teleports all over equestria itself), and she'd fail a ton with her magic. Back then, it really wasn't so unbelievable to think of the others as being able to keep up, akin to a Level 3 Wizard in a D&D party being unreliable and needing help. But power creep set in and twilight was shown to be more and more powerful with her magic, and now its more like a Level 12 wizard with level 4 fighters. About the only thing that really kept the others relevent in two parters was them being needed to power the EOH, and with that gone... well, yeah, not a whole lot left for them without blatantly hitting a "NO MAGIC" button like in The cutie mark map, or having twilight Literally forget about her powers (like when the vines cornered her in Princess twilight sparkle). I want to see more of the other 5 being useful, and in order to do that I think they need to specifically go in with an intent of "this is a group effort", which the writers tend to find too hard or inconvenient. If we see rainbow power again, I'd want it to be visually redesigned. I like the CONCEPT, but it was garrish and just ugly, sadly.
  15. As many as there's a purpose behind-- I Like alicorns being kind of greek gods kind of beings, so as long as there's a needed purpose for one, I would be fully behind them existing: Such as an alicorn for the oceans if you introduce some sort of magical artifact that they have to look over as well, or an Alicorn of Tartarus. "Who should become an alicorn next?" "Everyone" "What do you mean everyone?" "EVERYONE"
  16. >Shove the mane six down our throats >mane six= bad I REALLY hope this is sarcasm.... Well, hopefully Starlight is off in the human world in order to prevent her from being in the finale; that would be one GOOD thing to come out of her stealing the show from mirror magic.
  17. I disliked the third movie, yes. The first 2 were good, the third not so much. VERY not so much.
  18. Agreed so much. I'm hoping haber only has the TINIEST bit of input and that's why he's getting credited as well.
  19. So, its looks like haber might be back to have written the finale despite having gone over to work on skylanders for a while. thoughts?
  20. Uncommon bond could also be another geneology episode, with pinkie finding out she's related to somnambula or meadowbrook.
  21. On a random note, I rather hope the mane six aren't blood related to past heroes; I HATE that cliche. I'm a big opponent of the "destined for greatness" cliche that pops up in anime where the hero is basically the hero or successful because they start with a stacked deck compared to everyone else; I prefer it when they're literal nobodies who are who they are through hard work and beat the faces in of the people WITH bloodline advantages or past ancestors/connections instead. (as an example, I hated them retconning Goku's dad from being a nobody into being the first super saiyan)
  22. On a serious note, I actually wouldn't mind sunset having been ADOPTED by celestia-- so she's her daughter in a non-biological way.
