    Not a lot to go by but I'd put in on par with the first three episodes of season 4. That is to say, it's a great season so far! Most of us knew from day one that she had crazy Pie Powers. It runs in the family. In me...in my...sister...yes, search your feelings. You know it to be true.

    Pretty much. I mean, I loved what Maud said about gift-giving because it's so true and something we really need to hear more of. It's about loving other people and it's not a competition.

    I hope so too. I suspect Starlight will get her own episodes too and she works well with Spike so I'm all for it. We might even get a good Spike episode this season. I've usually been disappointed by previous Spike episodes (minus one or two) but he was so solid in this opener that I have renewed hope. I have to join others in saying those two were my true interest in the opener.

    Oh gosh! Can you imagine if she grew up to the CMC's age and got her cutie mark? That would be...well, really interesting. Personally speaking, I'm pessimistic about them addressing aging in the show. This is something very few shows ever do and it would be awkward if they aged only some characters and not others. I mean, I wish they did do it because I sooo want teen CMC episodes.

    Yeah, that makes sense. In a less dark way I mean. And you had to mention the master from Kung Fu Panda. That scene made me so sad. We need some kind of epic movie that addresses the princesses' backstory. :grin2:

    That would be really dark. Not that there haven't been some dark things so far... Interesting idea.

    That would leave a host of other questions too. If they weren't born alicorns then when did they become so? And how? Did an alicorn before them give them transformation? It's all backstory on the sisters that I'm pessimistic we'll ever know. I still want a Tia/Luna episode... :grin2:

    Indeed, but it makes sense considering their expectations. It's very realistic because in real life you have people build expectations of friends. Overestimating someone else's achievement can lead to holding back on the fear that you'll look like a fool if they knew what your life was really like. I think it was an important thing for the show to touch upon. Also, I see the voting has evened things out a bit. Glad a lot of people also enjoyed these episodes. We've got a great season ahead of us. *brohoof to all*

    ROFL He must be new then. I've got WAY more than that. That works very well for muh fanfic! ...in all seriousness, though, I really do love how they drew her in. The fact she tried being a little manipulating like you said was great for consistency too. I would love to see a little back-and-forth on that with Twilight. It could make great material for hilarious hijinks.

    I know, right? If we get a Spike-centered episode with THIS Spike then it will be a golden one. It's not that Spike needs to never make any mistakes. Just that he needs that consistency and character progression we've been shown. While I don't think this was the best opener possible, it defintely ranks as a solid one and a good watch. They did well and I'm also hyped for episodes to come.

    I concur. Because we all know it would have been epic as Tartarus if Sombra came back and was all like "muh crystal ponehs!" and the baby was all like "goo ga goo" and vaporized him with a sneeze. ...and we'd get more Gak commercials.

    Right on. I love how Spike was so well used in this episode. In a good way. Though he kind of took Twi's OCD to Starlight's concerns. Someone's quite the smitten kitten. If we're lucky this will be a trend going into the season. I got the progression I longed for in the CMC and now it would be a cake on top of a cake to get progression with Spike. He showed maturity here that he learned in past episodes.

    I know! That really shocked me, but I'm extremely pleased. I wonder if they'll show up in later episodes. That could make for some interesting interactions.

    I was stuck between 90s and 00s. I love some of the movies from both as well as the animation style and story presentation. I went with 00s though because Atlantis and Lilo and Stitch are too great. I'll admit that Mulan gave them a tough fight for top spots.

    Some great movies mentioned already but I'm going to go home with this one: Titan A.E. From 2000, but sums up so much that was right about the 90s. The music, the animation, and the sci-fi story all meshed perfectly for me.

    Gosh darnit, ya stole mah response. Yes, Twilight is my favorite so I would probably do that. Have a warm blanket over us, talk about the problems, and read away together. Recall Scaremaster with Shy's safe spot beneath the bed. Kind of like that. So awesome~
