So, most of you have probably heard of the game Cookie Clicker. What you may or may not have heard of is Pony Clicker. While it is very similar to the original Cookie Clicker, it also has a new take. Some changes are simply a new cover to the same game. (E.g., you collect smiles instead of cookies.) But other change the way the game works. One major example of this is that instead of each generator being worth a certain fixed ammount, you first buy ponies and friendships, which help your other generators generate smiles. This game is in beta, so it's still being updated, and has been at least twice while I've been playing, possibly three times. (Updates haven't been resetting my progress, though.) I'm wondering what you think of this game, how many smiles you've generated, etc.

Should they make a new intro?
Superstars111 replied to cider float's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I don't think they can change it. At least not a lot. There are some shows that change the theme every season. Babylon 5, for example, is one of my favorite shows, and they had a new theme for each season, that reflected what had happened in the previous season(s) and what would be happening in this season. I've seen plenty of shows that do the same. But there are other shows that keep the same theme every season. But by now, they've had the same theme so long that if they changed it, I think it would cause major problems. That said, as has been pointed out already, they have made minor adaptions throughout, to reflect where the show is going. I like that, and I think that's how it should be. They're not having it exactly the same, but they do need it to be easily recognizable as very similar. -
Favorite MLP Shipping and Why?
Superstars111 replied to LyraHeartstrings's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Shipping comes from the word relationship. So, conflicting ships don't really work. If you would ship someone with multiple people (or ponies, as the case may be), then you aren't actually shipping them with anyone, because you aren't saying that they should be in a relationship with a particular person. That said, I'm rather reserved with my ships. I don't ship someone (or somepony) unless I actually ship them and think they would work well together. So for MLP, I actually only have two ships. Pinkie Pie x Cheese Sandwich We only met Cheese once, but based on what I saw, I think he and Pinkie would work well together. Spike x Sweetie Belle Everypony knows that Spike has a rather large crush on Rarity. But I don't think that'll work out for a number of reasons, including age, the way she treats him, etc. (Even in those rare times when she's being nice to him just for the sake of being nice, she looks down on him and treats him like a kid. She doesn't treat him like an equal.) But what about Sweetie Belle? She's younger, which means for one thing that she's closer to Spike in age, and it also means that she wouldn't be looking down on him. Sweetie Belle is, well, a sweetie. (Not always, but most of the time, as I see it.) I think that once Spike gets over Rarity, he'll notice Sweetie Belle and end up spending more time with her. Keep in mind, I'm not wanting to see "romance" with these couples. I want to see them enjoying eachother's company and being best friends.- 2,340 replies

Overall, this wasn't one of my favorite episodes. I'm really just not very big on Daring Do and Rainbow Dash, so most of it was that, but there were a few things aside from that that messed with my head. One being that this whole world exists. When somepony writes about something irl, there are always some ponies who obsess over it and learn everything about it. You'd think that if this stuff was publisized, somepony would have figured out by now that this is real, especially if where A.K. Yearling lives isn't a secret. Another thing that really got on my nerves was at the very end, after the last hug with A.K. Yearling. Rainbow Dash writes, "Just had the coolest adventure with the coolest pony ever." When she finishes her entry, she hears a knock at the door, and recieving a package, exclaims that she got the new book a week before anypony else. The same book that wasn't supposed to be published for another six months. The book that hadn't been finished yet when she left earlier that day. Even if she'd waited a day or two to write the entry, she wouldn't have waited six months.

I have friend A and friend B. (This applies to multiple situations, so I'm not using specific names.) Friend A is a good friend who I've known for years. Friend B is a good friend who I've known for years. But Friends A and B have known eachother since they were born. They're comfortable with me, but more comfortable with eachother, and if they absolutely had to choose, they would probably choose eachother over me. It's fine for people to have other friends, and they have known eachother longer. They don't mistreat me because of it, and I don't do anything when they spend time with eachother. But deep down inside, I do feel a little jealous. In Discord's case, he doesn't have many friends at all. So the one true friend that he does have is rather special to him. While I do think his jealousy got a bit out of control, I also think it makes sense that he would be rather jealous. Keep in mind that his personality is much different than mine, so just like it makes sense that he would get more jealous than I do, it also makes sense that he would be more expressive of his jealousy. (And even I got a bit annoyed at Fluttershy when she told Treehugger, "I've never known anypony as funny as you," when earlier she'd said the same to Discord.) That said, I wouldn't be surprised if Discord had a bit of a crush on Fluttershy. He might not realize it yet or think of it that way, but I suspect that he probably does on some level.

Yes, Canterlot is different from Ponyville, but she wasn't originally from Ponyville. She was from Cloudsdale. Any animals from the ground were completely different from any animals that may have lived in Cloudsdale. Falling from the sky is just as sudden (if not more so) than running towards animals, and the animals wouldn't be able to tell her intent without knowing her. You could argue that she seemed in distress as she was falling, but her scream as she fell could have meant, to the animals, a number of things. To react on instinct, they would naturally run away from something so sudden and unexpected. In Canterlot, Fluttershy was clearly happy and friendly. If they could tell that she didn't have any malicious intent when she was falling, they should have been able to tell even more so when she was running towards them with a smile. Yes, Fluttershy can get mad. But that's not her character. Dragonshy is actually one of my favorite episodes, because it captures Fluttershy so well. In the situation with the dragon and with the cockatrice, she was defending her friends. She wasn't losing her temper, she was raising her voice. There's a huge difference between controlled anger and uncontrolled anger. Controlled anger, anger that's being used for a purpose, anger at the mistreatment of friends, is entirely different than Fluttershy losing her temper because the animals don't love her. So rather than being strengthened, her character was weakened by this episode. It took someone who was shy and timid, someone who only gets angry for the sake of a friend, and turned her into someone who will lose her temper when she doesn't get her way.

Is the *Smooze*, Discord's pet?
Superstars111 replied to LordDiscord's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I wouldn't call him/it a pet. I don't think pets typically need tickets to events like the Grand Galloping Gala. I would suspect that it typically inhabits Discord's dimension, but I'm not sure. It might live in swamps or caves or something. Like ArcheoPony mentioned, he/it did seem very sweet, and I don't think I would consider him/it a villian. (Originally I was thinking along the villain path, but then I realized I was thinking about another slime monster from another series.) But Treehugger isn't as much an animal expert as Fluttershy is, so it seems like if he/it were an animal, Fluttershy would have been the one to help out. -
I strongly disagree. We see in The Cutie Mark Chronicles that even animals that don't know her are willing to be her friends. Some animals become her friends, yes, but that doesn't mean that other animals alienate her. Based on her track record, I think her fantasy was rather reasonable. There were plenty of ways that her fantasy could have been made unrealistic other than the animals being scared of her. The garden could have been crowded with other party guests, or the animals could have been asked to move somewhere else for the sake of the party. But animals are naturally drawn to her, even animals that don't know her, as we've seen many times. But let's assume for the sake of example that it's reasonable for these animals to be scared of her because they don't know her. She would be upset, yes. Her fantasy wasn't going to turn out right, although I think a more believable method should have been used. But when she gets upset, it's not in her character to get mad. She's a very timid pony, and everything about her shows that. So if her night didn't go as planned, she wouldn't go into a rage and start shouting. She would curl up in a corner and cry. It makes sense that her night wouldn't go as planned. It also makes sense that she would be upset about it. But the way that her night didn't go as planned, and the way that she got upset about it were both very out of character for her.

In the episode Ponyville Confidential, the CMC spread rumors regarding various ponies. Some were false, some were exagerated, and at least one was true. I'm listing here the various rumors, the evidence for/against each within the episode (that I saw), and then I'd like to discuss them to see if we can reach a verdict. True, false, or exagerated. I'll be skipping the first article (about Snips and Snails) and the last article (about Rarity's diary). 1. The Great and Powerful Trixie's Secrets Revealed - Verdict: Undecided 2. Celestia Just Like Us - Verdict: Undecided A picture of Celestia is shown with her face covered in cake. 3. Mayor: Not Naturally Gray- The Mayor in a Mane-dying Scandal - Verdict: True A picture of the Mayor is shown, seemingly dying her mane. Later, she peeks her head out the door to get her paper. Her mane is partially gray and partially pink. 4. Applejack: Asleep on the Job - Verdict: Undecided A picture is shown of Applejack sleeping against a tree. Applejack reacts in an upset manner, but doesn't say whether it's a lie or a secret truth. 5. Big Macintosh: What's He Hiding? - Verdict: Undecided A picture is shown of Big Mac holding the doll that he got from Twilight in Lesson Zero. Applejack is upset, but doesn't say whether anything is true or not. 6. Twilight Sparkle: I was a Canterlot Snob - Verdict: Undecided "A well-placed scaly sourse close to the prissy pony says, "Twilight Sparkle thinks Ponyville is nothing but muddy roads and low-class roofs."" Twilight asks Spike how he could say such a thing. Spike insists that he didn't, and Gabby Gums made it up. Twilight later says that what Gabby Gums prints is all lies, presumably referring to this particular article, since another article hadn't yet been refferenced after this one. 7. Fluttershy Has Tail Extensions - Verdict: Undecided A picture of Fluttershy from behind is shown with red arrows pointing to her tail. Fluttershy gets wide eyes and sinks out of view, saying nothing. 8. Pinkie Pie is an Out-of-control Party Animal - Verdict: True A picture is shown of Pinkie Pie wearing a lamp shade and dancing in a punch bowl. Pinkie Pie takes the paper, exclaiming, "What?!" Reading the story, she breaks down into exagerated tears, wailing, "It's true! I do have a problem!" 9. "Oh, look! According to this one, the Cakes are breaking up!" - Verdict: Undecided The Cakes burst into the room in surprise, Mrs. Cake asking, "We are??" 10. Rainbow Dash: Speed Demon or Super Softie? - Verdict: Undecided A picture is shown of Rainbow Dash about to get a hooficure. Presumably, this is from earlier in the episode, when she was about to give in and get one because of her friends' insistance. However, unlike earlier in the episode, Rainbow Dash is smiling in the picture. I think some of them are rather obvious, but I'd still like to see what you all think about them. Which do you think are true, which do you think are false, which do you think are exaggerated, and why?

Something I've been wondering lately is if the writers have favorite ponies. I haven't been able to find out from my Google searches if they'd announced anything about it, though I doubt that they would have. So I've been trying to figure it out on my own. First I made a list of all the episodes written by each writer. (Well, somepony else on the forums already had a nice list made up through season three, so I just stole that and added season four. (No season five yet.)) Then I looked at who was the mane character for that episode and marked it down. My hope was that I'd be able to see some pattern, but alas, I found none. So now I turn to you. Do you have any thoughts on who might be the favorite ponies of each writer? If so, why do you think that? (In case you're interested, I also put my list in the spoiler below.)

I think she has a sense of humor, yes. I'm not sure I'd call her a troll, but she's clearly not your standard princess. One thing that I particularly liked with her was in the episode with the Phoenix. (A Bird in the Hoof, was it?) Where she was at the Cakes' shop and they kept refilling her tea, and then she pretends to take a sip and they refil it again. I liked that. It showed that she wasn't overly formal, and didn't see herself as so much better than her subjects that she can't have a little fun now and then. (And, to be honest, his joke about Twilight was a bit funny, especially mixed with her reaction. XD )

Anyone else not looking forward to the 100th episode?
Superstars111 replied to AspenSwift's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I hadn't even realized that it was coming up. I know very little about it, but I can't say I'm any more worried about it than I am with normal episodes. I don't tend to make theories about the background ponies. I prefer to analyze how things work. I have my thread on how Cutie Marks work, and I also like theorizing about various other aspects of the show. Which means that, to be honest, this actually seems like a slightly safer episode for me. My main theories involve Cutie Marks, and while this season has already been a treasure trove of information, it would worry me if somepony wrote an episode that completely messes with the consistency of the story (which has happened multiple times by my least favorite writer, who doesn't seem to understand the characters very well. -_- ). While I do agree that I'd like to see the mane six in the 100th episode and it doesn't quite seem fair to them, I still think they'll be able to do something interesting with this. I wouldn't be surprised if the wedding was Cranky Doodle and Matilda, I will say. -

*Mouth waters* Chicken packets. Wonderful, delicious, chicken packets... Few have ever heard of them. On the most basic level, it's chicken wrapped in bread dough and covered in bread crumbs. But that's a very poor representation. The meat is shredded and mixed with various other ingredients, and it's just... I've never found anypony that doesn't like them, including my picky little siblings who don't like anything that isn't sugar or peanut butter. Of course, they're also very rare. I'm not even sure if the recipie is online. It may be, but I've never checked, because it's in our family cookbook. I get them once a year, on my birthday, because they're apparently really hard to make.

I'm not any different. Or rather, I am different, but not because of or in reference to the show. I never went long with the stereotypes one way or another. Never hated on it, never loved it. Had friends that liked it, had friends that didn't. I wasn't a big fan of the first few episodes, but I don't make my descision about a show until I'm about 1.5 seasons in, at least, so I kept going. I found I liked it, and that's that.

Superstars111 replied to Trine's topic in Sugarcube Corner
I actually noticed the similarities just earlier today. Brightly colored cuddly animals with a mark that tells them who they are (in a sense). I've seen two Care Bear movies that my little siblings used to watch, but that's it, so I don't really know what it's like, but from what I've seen, Care Bears is a stereotypical kids show. My Little Pony, on the other hand, is a kids show on the surface, but they actually care about their audience. They assume some level of intelligence. (Keep in mind, this is from what I've seen. I can't accurately judge CB without having seen more of it, but since nopony who has seen it seems to contradict me, I feel rather safe in my assumptions here.) So the question is, would the crossover pull CB up to the quality of MLP, or would it pull MLP down to the quality of CB? The latter seems more likely. But I would have to watch it and find out. -
If the mane 6 met their human counterparts?
Superstars111 replied to TheMarkz0ne's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I think it would be interesting for them to meet their counterparts each in their original forms, but I actually think it would be even more interesting for them all to meet in the same forms. All as humans, and all as ponies. Remember, the human counterparts have never seen the pony world. I think it would be so cool to have them all get to explore eachother's worlds. Especially for the humans to see the pony world. Human-ponies: "Why am I naked??" Ponies: "Don't worry, we're ponies. We don't wear clothes." Rarity: "Yes we do! Come to my shop right now!" We could tell them apart by which ones were wearing clothes. -

Theory How Cutie Marks Work
Superstars111 replied to Superstars111's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
That is possible. If the Tree of Harmony has something to do with the Cutie Marks, then maybe it supplies the physical representation that bonds to the soul and amplifies it? Or, if you take another approach to my post over here, it's also possible that the amplification comes first, which the tree supplies, and that forms the mark itself. That is a possibility, but it doesn't seem likely. In Magical Mystery Cure, they didn't lose their talents. The talents didn't just not work with the others, they didn't leave the original pony in the first place. Also, Sweetie Belle sings quite a bit, and Twist made candy, but the mark doesn't appear until you realize it's your talent. You, sir, have inspired me. Not that I agreed with everything you said in your thread, but I did find much of what was brought up to be fascinating. Based on what we've seen in the show, I think that the triune nature of Cutie Marks is the only explanation that's left. Or at least, that I can see. That is to say, there's the body, spirit, and soul, and the Cutie Mark can be broken in a variety of methods, depending on the method used. But one thing that I've still been wondering about, is where do the pictures come from? And how do the ponies tell what they mean? After all, the pictures aren't all things that are found in nature. Candy canes are pony-made, for one small example. Tiaras and spoons as well. My theory here is that the pony subconciously chooses his or her own Cutie Mark. But how do they know what it means, then, when it changes in some special case like Magical Mystery Cure? "It's what my Cutie Mark is telling me." And why is it that they aren't forced out of jobs that don't match their Cutie Marks? For example, in The Last Roundup. Applejack got a job at a cherry orchard, even though her Cutie Mark is clearly made up of apples. The others didn't even have fruit on their flanks, and they were also accepted. My theory here is that each pony can "see" what their own mark means, but not anypony else's. In Death Note, there's a deal that can be made to get special eyes that allow you to see the name and life expectancy of a person. (I'm only part-way into that series, though, so I'm just using this as an example. ) My theory is that each pony has these special eyes that allow them to "see" the interpretation of their own Cutie Marks. But they can't see anypony else's. The mane six were suspicious of Applejack, since they knew her well, but anypony else would just assume that Applejack's Cutie Mark was more broad than it seemed, as this is rather common among Cutie Marks. This particular theory does have a bit of a hole with Troublehooves (I think that was his name?), since he didn't know what his own Cutie Mark meant. It's possible that he refused to see what was right in front of him for some reason, but I'm not sure. -
Oh, this thread is fascinating. I have some input. @@Buck Testa, I know you've already seen my thread, but for anypony else, I'll link to it here, because this involves some of what I set forth. First, Cutie Marks must have some actual effect on the ponies. This is shown in The Cutie Map with the Equal Cutie Marks. When the Mane Six lose their Cutie Marks and gain the new ones, their abilities changed. This could have been because they lost their original Cutie Marks, or it could have been because of the new Cutie Marks, but either way, something happened. A Cutie Mark won't change you, no, but it amplifies. We see this in my theory where the Cutie Marks have a triune nature. The soul, or the essense of the talent, the body, or the mark itself- the physical representation of the talent, and the spirit, or the bond that amplifies the talent and drives the pony to follow that talent. It was mentioned previously by somepony (I forget who; it was several pages back) that some ponies (Twilight and Rainbow Dash in particular) got their Cutie Marks after their extreme outbursts of energy, thus showing that the Cutie Marks don't amplify. Actually, I would use this as evidence to the contrary. The Cutie Marks don't change them, because the talent is with them the whole time. Then, as they begin to realize it, (meaning, as they're in the process of realization,) the power begins to grow uncontrolably. This explains Rarity, Rainbow Dash's first sonic rainboom (that she later had trouble replicating) and Twilight's outburst of magic. Then the physical representation appears as kind of a cap. It restricts the amplification, allowing them control over their own talents. This also means that there are several breaking points in the Cutie Mark. One would be to take the entire thing away from the pony. But since the soul, or the essense of the talent, was already there to begin with, most ponies can't do that. The only one I've seen doing that was Discord in the Season Two premier. He would have left the body, or the physical representation for restraint, but taken the soul and spirit, or essense and amplification. Another breaking point is between the soul and spirit. This is most common, since the body and spirit come and go together, but the soul was always with the pony. I think that this is what we see happening in The Cutie Map. Their Cutie Marks are taken and replaced. But they still have the soul. They still know what they're meant to do. Which is the reason for the body of the Equal Cutie Marks. They lost the amplification, but they should be able to get it right back since they already know their talents. But the new Cutie Mark, while it has nothing to bond with, still acts as a cap, or a restraint. This is why it glows. They're trying to get their Cutie Marks back, but they can't, because there's something already there. The final breaking point for a Cutie Mark is between the body and the spirit. This is rare, since my theory requires the spirit to be bonded to the physical mark. But this is what I think we see in Magical Mystery Cure. The physical representations weren't taken away, carrying the amplifications with them. Rather, the spirits were forced to bond with new bodies that didn't match them. They still had a mark, after all, so their amplification (original amplification) remained, just bonded to a different physical mark. I've been struck by inspiration, so I'm going to go post in my own thread with some more thoughts, but this is the information that I think relates to this thread specifically.

You only bolded half of my sentence. I was talking about Applejack specifically in this case. I also listed The Best Night Ever as my least favorite episode because of that bit with Fluttershy. That said, I do have issues with any of them going against their element. They aren't supposed to be perfect in all circumstances, no, but they are supposed to be perfect in that particular area- perfect enough that they are said to represent that element. Meaning that even if they aren't perfect in that area, they are supposed to be better in that area than anypony else. The problem is that the writers are trying to play it down, and show that they have their own flaws, and aren't any better than anypony else. I agree with that idea. They should have flaws. But it becomes an issue when suddenly, they're not better than anypony else in those particular areas, either. If they aren't noticably better in those areas, even to the point of perfection, then how is it that they're said to represent those elements?

So, I'm revealing my bronyness in stages. First I only told Alexandra, the girl who got me into it. Then I was willing to admit it to Elijah and Brynn, just to bug them, because they don't understand it. And eventually, I was willing to admit it to Alan. Yes, Alan, the guy that is so openly brony that there's not a person alive who doesn't know that he likes MLP:FiM. Then I was able to admit it to Brianna and Aubrey, because I knew they wouldn't judge me. But after that, I kind of kept it hidden. Especially from my relatives. Not that they would judge me for it. They would just mock me endlessly. Kind of like I would to them if I found out something like this about them. XD We mock eachother in our family to show affection. But we don't always know when to stop. So I'd kind of rather they didn't find out. Well, for Thanksgiving this past year, we went to Alan's house, where he and I got to humming Find the Music in You. I don't know how much his parents know about MLP, but they at least didn't recognize the song. But both our dads recognized that something was up and started asking about what it was from. We refused to tell. So Alan's dad got out his phone with that app that lets you identify songs and asked Alan to sing it again. He started before he realized what the app was and started shouting random stuff into it. That one was close. Later, I was talking to Geoffrey and my sister Hannah. We were discussing whatever random stuff, including favorites. I rattled off my favorites, conveniently skipping the favorite TV show. Geoffrey pressed the issue. I said, "Well, there are two that are tied. But you'll judge me for one of them, so Babylon 5." Geoffrey insisted that he wouldn't judge me, and said I should just whisper it to him. I did, and he said, "Oh, really? That's interesting. I knew Alan liked it, but..." And that was the clue that let my sister find out about it, with all sorts of glee on her face. I'm still not sure what to do about her knowing yet. Edit: I just remembered one more, that was probably actually worse... I don't tend to worry about what I put on my Spotify starred list. Well, I was in the living room with some of my siblings, and we were listening to music from my Spotify starred list. Mostly Casting Crowns, Owl City, TobyMac, and One Direction. (Yeah, I like 1D too. I'm not a popular person. ) My siblings know I like 1D, and don't have a problem with it. Anyway, my list was on shuffle. And I'd been singing along with my music. In the living room. With my four younger siblings, who don't know about my being a brony. "Three months of winter coolness, and awesome holidays. We've kept our hoovsies warm at home, time off from work to play. But the food we've stored is runnin' out, an' we can't grow in this cold. And even though I love my boots this fashion's getting old... The time has come to welcome spring, and all things warm and green. But it's also time to say goodbye, its winter we must clean." Thirty seconds in, I realized what I was singing and skipped the song, frantically thinking, What did they hear? What does that song say? How does it start? They won't recognize it, right? But did it mention ponies directly? Did it mention ponies?? I think I managed to cover it up, but I'm still not quite sure. Edit 2: Another happened just today. I help coach my old Speech&Debate team with some of the other alumni. We alumni were coming up with award names for various competitors. I mean, during the year, we compete in actual competition, but at the end of the year, we give certificates to all of our team members, saying something about who they are. We were thinking of animals that could be compared to people. I mentioned ponies. Sara: "Ponies?" Me: "The My Little Pony Award!" She thought I was joking. Sara: "Oh my gosh, there was this one competitor [male name that I forgot] a few years ago, who actually got really into My Little Pony. Like, apparently there's this group of guys, teenage guys, who are really into the show, and they call themselves bronies... Yeah. It's really weird. But then, he was a weird guy, so..." From that point, I started looking for places to make MLP references that she wouldn't get, but I couldn't find a good opportunity. XD
