  1. I couldn't agree more...I've always liked clowns, and I find it saddening that popular media encourages people (espcially children) to dislike them, and I'm not referring to the recent trend of people using clown costumes to intimidate and antagonize people. In fact, I think the reason they choose clown get-ups is BECAUSE people are more inclined these days to have an unfounded fear of clowns, and our society condones and ENCOURAGES it (anyone remember the clown from Disney's Inside Out? Or how about the clown from the original Air Bud movie?). In real life, I find it hard to believe that someone could really think that people become clowns so they can terrify children, or at least that any person of reasonable intellect couldn't recognize that clowns are not innately bad or scary. What has happened to American culture that zombies and vampires are all the rage, but some guy with a red nose and over-sized shoes making balloon animals is freaky? Clowns are supposed to delight kids by appealing to their appreciation of silliness and goofiness (just like a certain pink party pony), and I hate to see these people reduced to the subject of common phobias, like heights and small spaces. Now, I'm not saying that there isn't the possibly that someone was over-whelmed as a child by a clown who was maybe trying too hard, or just plain wasn't suited at being a clown, but traumized to the point that we still hate them as adults? C'mon, we're smarter than that...trauma is being on the front lines of war, watching your best friends die...it is not clowns. We all have fears that stem from negative childhood experiences, I for one do not like descending ladders, but that doesn't mean I don't recognize that my fear is ridiculous. Real-life clowns do what they do to delight and entertain, and I would guess it's pretty painful for them to watch disturbed people using their likeness to terroize others.
  2. One of the best hikes I've ever been on was in Rocky Mtn National Park; following a trail that originated as an old mountain pass used for decades by the Natives American tribes of the area, we hiked up to a lake called Lake Hiyaha, which was completely surrounded by rock (there was no shoreline, it literally sat in a huge basin of boulders). The water was so clear that you could see 15-20 feet to the bottom of the lake, and all the fish were clearly visible. It was absolutely beautiful!
  3. Hello everypony! I recently wrote my first MLP: FIM poem, and I need help with the title...It's themed around Celestia's grief and sorrow at losing Luna to Nightmare Moon (overdone, I know, but still one of the most emotionally moving aspects of the show). I'm also hoping that some talented musician(s) out there may want to turn it into a song. Enjoy, and let me know what you think! The beginning rays of Sunlight, bright golden streaks of warmth, extending from the edge of sight to hail daybreak coming forth, were once my worthy, sacred guide to garner adulation, far and wide… but now I long to be untied from the crown by which my Fate abides. The dignity in Duty and the honor of demands has diminished since you taught me what it costs to be so grand... and now the gleaming glow of Dawn feels undeserved, the grandeur gone; it soothes me not to seem so strong while you suffer where you don’t belong. And with all the glory of the Morning comes an apathy that dulls the Day, but with the solemn hush of Nighttime’s sky comes the groan of guilt I can’t allay... the sweetest mercy of the Sunrise can not save me from your Moon-stuck eyes; they fall upon me in the Twilight, such a terrible and rich surprise. Entrapped within your Midnight and punished for your pride, your pale, anguished, frozen face engraves the fault into my mind… and I would sacrifice all shred of Light and forsake my Magic’s moving might to redeem my long-lost sister’s right to extol the splendor of the Night… But I’m trapped within Life’s verity, born from my selfish, sightless Soul; as dour decades amble by, my hollow Heart can’t be consoled. And I curse my Destiny to reign, obligated to my subjects’ gain; resenting when the whole world deigned to adore my sister’s dark domain.
  4. I'm afriad of ladders...specifcally having to descend a ladder that has round rungs...my brain irrationally starts to doubt my ability to put my foot on the next rung below without it slipping and causing me to fall. So needless to say, I avoid any situation where I have to climb a ladder and come back down the same way.
  5. I love the exaggerated expressions...it feels like the characters are becoming less reserved and more genuine with their reactions. Diamond Tiara's facials in Crusaders of the Lost Mark felt totally natural to me; we were already expecting her nasty attitude, but then suddenly we were hit with...ugly Diamond Tiara?! OMG is her face really doing that? It was not only comical, but immediately I could sense her gaurd was already dropping. Although, my favorite still has to be Rainbow's "DO I LOOK ANGRY?!" face (Tanks for the Memories)...Dash is an extrovert, so subduing or downplaying her emotions is a challenge for her, but this was an epic fail. Her expression managed to be simultaneously hilarious and terrifying, while still feeling like genuine Dashie. I feel that when the creators of FIM come up with new and creative ways for the characters to express their personalities, it keeps the show interesting by making you feel like there's still little pieces you haven't seen yet...Rainbow's gushy, giddy smile when Daring Do confirmed thier friendship was unexpected and adorable. I hope they keep animating the ponies with the freedom to show us a lesser-seen of their personalies.
  6. I would be a dragon (something along the lines of Toothless from HTTYD)...soaring through the clouds at break-neck speeds, breathing fire to defend the innocent and feeling pretty badass while doing it!
  7. Most of the bronies at the meet-ups I go to are in their twenties...there's a handful of high-schoolers and a few 30-somethings. At 28, I certainly feel like one of the older ones there.
  8. This guy doing a hilariously accurate impression of a T Rex... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVxmvcAgIPU
  9. Thank you so much, it means a lot! I've never been so welcomed in any online community or forum, I just wish I had joined months ago!
  10. Last summer I walked into what my brain registered as a "car parts store"; I was prompted in by a banner proclaiming 'free air checks.' I told them right away I was there for the free check since my A/C wasn't working at all. The mechanic kind of laughed and said, "Ma'am, this is Tires Plus. We only do tires. The free air check is for the air inside...your tires." As if the 95°F weather without A/C wasn't awful enough, having all the blood rush to my face as I apologized and walked out didn't help lol
  11. Haha, I'm glad you liked it! With no lyrics to tell me what the music's about, my imagination is completely free and it's like a catalyst for my creativity. Which one of their songs did you listen to?
  12. When Twilight became a princess, Celestia did confirm that she wouldn't be her student anymore "in the same way as before." Maybe that means Celestia no longer thought it was necessary for her to report on friendship every week...as for why the other 5 don't seem to write letters anymore, ya got me lol
  13. I always thought Athena was a good name for a female fighter, since she was the Greek goddess of war and wisdom. Also, about your world, I'm pretty sure that Ragnarok is actually some sort of armageddon event or prediction from ancient Norse mythology...then again, maybe you named it after that intentionally
  14. Those eyes...she's so pretty (EYELASHES. WOW.)! And you did a lovely job on her legs, they convey movement while remaining graceful. I think Sunset is so much more gorgeous as a pony, but even so, she is still all of the reasons I like Equestria Girls lol I love your painting, I hope you do more!
  15. Thank you so much everypony for your kind and enthusiastic welcome! I've been a pegasister for about two years now and I'd really like to become more involved in the fandom, and what a wonderful fandom it is! Between the art and music and animations and fan analysts (and whatever other brilliancy the fandom gives rise to), bronies and pegasisters are never lacking in creative ways to express our passion for MLP, and even better is that we're always eager to share it with each other! Thanks again for making me feel so appreciated!
  16. My Favourite Mane 6 Pony: Applejack How did you find MLP Forums?: Google search How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: The documentary on Netflix called "Bronies" caught my attention one day ("Seriously? Is this for real?"), and after watching it I decided to try the show myself ("Maybe there really is something special about this show..."), and ended up getting hooked ("Ermagerd...there goes my work ethic lol.")! I'm 27 and the most important part of my life is the joy of having my "kids," a Siberian Husky and a German Shepherd. I'm a very proud pup-parent and I love being a doggie mom! I'm a very liberal and tolerant person and get along with almost anyone. I tend to be random and somewhat of a spaz; I like to be spontaneous. Not sure what else to say...I'm an Aries, I'm from Omaha (GO BIG RED!), I love the winter and hate the summer, I love instrumental music (Audiomachine, Two Steps From Hell, Immediate Music, movie scores, etc.), and I'm terrible at mathematics and parallel parking. I'm super excited to meet more MLP fans!
