When you lag in a game like crazy but your internet is just fine.

@J.T. The premiere is probably the legit best premiere I've ever seen for really any animated show to be honest. It was pretty much perfect aside from some faults in the pacing. And it absolutely established for me that Angel Dust is DEFINITELY going to be my favorite character.

Apparently Hollow-Earthers are a thing (and apparently have been for years...)
How stupid can people be...? We have people that believe the Earth is flat (despite common sense and fundamental physics proving otherwise) and... This? I'm literally astounded.

@CypherHoof Never even realized that. That makes it look even worse on them XD

I get why people are upset about Borderlands 3 being an Epic Exclusive, but the lengths it has gone has gotten beyond ridiculous. Review-bombing a game because it won't release on a platform for a few months, ESPECIALLY MONTHS BEFORE IT EVEN COMES OUT is downright childish. Seriously, if you don't like their decisions that much, JUST DON'T BUY IT. I personally don't intend to until its Steam release next year, so I'm partially with you on that.

You lose the ability to pretend you're the side of law and order when you are ignoring the law completely.
The far right doesn't just fail to understand this, they delude themselves into thinking this isn't factual in regards to the police, or the president essentially censoring freedom of speech and assembly both because clearly non-violent protestors = terrorists.
Yeah I've already said this, but it's impossible to say you support Trump and the constitution both at this point.

@Prince Doopliss I used to think he was okay, when most of what I heard about him was from somebody believing far right propaganda. And I had no internet at home so I couldn't do much about that.

I must be one of the few people who don't take reasonless offense from Encyclopedia Dramatica's sense of humor...
But yet again, even a great percentage of the people who say they're tired of people getting offended over nothing... Get offended over nothing too.

@Vulon Bii That's true, some of the humor seems like they try a bit too hard to offend people for the sake of being edgy.

Apparently Nintendo is cracking down on people who post music from their games on YouTube.
I mean I know Nintendo are f***ing evil when it comes to copyrights, but really? Taking down videos of music loops is f***ing insane even for them. Especially music from games that are almost 10 years old... (BrawlBrestMS3's ENTIRE playlist for Black and White as well as Black and White 2 is GONE! And that's only the one I KNOW about)
If they don't provide an alternative avenue to this, this will be strike two against Nintendo in my book. The first strike is when they decided that YouTubers who post clips from their games are in violation of their ridiculous copyrights. If they do something ridiculous like this again, I will have no choice but to abandon my patronage of Nintendo consoles and games (aside from pirating, of course because f*** them).
It's sad because I'd basically have to say that I won't play any of the Nintendo games I've been excited about, but if that means not giving more money to a cash cow with the most absurd copyright policy I've ever heard of, then I'll make a stand against them in more than likely vain hopes they'll listen. I hope others will do the same after enough of this insanity.

@UsagerI suppose there are I'd just have to loop them myself if I want it longer than a minute or so.
Nonetheless, my point still stands that Nintendo is only a strike and a half away from being struck out in my book. I say a half because I would be... okay with it if they released an actual official soundtrack CD or something so people can get access to it through not technically illegal means.
-
What happens when you force people to have an internet connection to play any game on a console, and promise things that the console actually can't do?
A FAILURE OF A CONSOLE.

It must be REALLY easy to offend anti-SJWs... my goodness. Like so easy that even the MENTION of a female character wanting to be a man makes them start screeching.

@CypherHoof At least SJWs have deluded themselves into thinking it's for a purpose, and there's the absolute tiniest grain of truth in some of what they're saying. These people are literally only like this because they hate SJWs that much, and they know everything that comes out of their mouth is utterly bigoted and totally full of $#!+.

@PoisonClaw The feeling is pretty strong here. Though I guess if I actually can get my @$$ in gear it shouldn't be too long before it won't be quite as big of an issue.

F*** it, here's a little leak if you can decipher it, I'm a little tired of not putting out something. There isn't anything awfully revealing here anyways as to what anything does, or really much to the lore of the game.
By the way, this project for anyone who doesn't know, is a tabletop alternate history/sci-fi war game with MOBA elements that has been in the works for a while now by yours truly, an awfully lazy wannabe tabletop game dev.

I apologize to everyone for existing, for being a heartless, worthless, and pointless waste of time. space, and oxygen.

Oh spare me the irony of the fascists talking about virtue signaling when that's literally all they've done since the protests started.
The far right are beginning to look a lot like this to me:

@TheBronyHeart I'd say in this case it's more than a valid description since they have made it clear they believe in censoring freedom of speech and in putting the black and the poor as a separate class considering they support the "War on Drugs" that's essentially done just that, and they make a deliberate and downright idiotic effort to complain about anyone trying to actually fix our economy to properly accomodate the middle class, although that part may be just due to intentional ignorance on their part.
The way I see it if they say it gives them credibility in this case, then I'd say it gives my point more credibility as well, considering it shows just how delusional they really are to believe that censoring differing viewpoints and also apparently in classist ideas is somehow democratic because it suits their agenda, even if they won't directly say that.
-
Perhaps it would be enlightening to me if I were to know specifics of which group(s) you're referring to. There's always the possibility that you are completely right, but far be it for me to say. Honestly not my intention to in any way belittle you or your ideals, just wanted to be clear on that.
The war on drugs is an idiotic and horrid endeavor, I agree. But supporting it doesnt necessarily coralate to belief in racism or desire to keep classes separate. And in a similar vein being fascist does not automatically make you a racist, though class separation is a part of most fascist ideology just not in a typical way. As another way to look at fascism is being a extreme nationalist, in this way class division is usually based on naturally born citizens over immigrants, aliens, and other nation's citizens. It is important to distinguish that Hitler's Germany was using an unorthodox form of fascism known as Social Nationalism, and he was also a racist f*** with his own personal ideals of race and class which he then ushered into society. But the obsession with race discrimination itself is not a core of fascism.
One of fascism's pillars is a strong national unity and need to stimulate the economy and industry until a nation can be completely self efficient. Relying on other powers for the economy or allowing the economy to wither goes against this major tenant. Though ironically this self efficiency in the modern world would arguably be unsustainable. I agree with your assumption that it is more than likely just ignorance on their part.
I'd write more but I am quite tired. Just got off the overnight shift. Sent with good intentions and best wishes, friend.

Okay so I found this video which actually has a great breakdown on fascism, admittedly delivered as a history lesson about Italy, but Italy was the closest nation to really achieve a fascist state. And TIK is a very well learned guy in this regard. I'll just leave it here if you want to see it and then promptly drop the subject altogether, but I am still appreciative you took the time to respond. Cheers.

I'm starting to think it's not worth my time making an Ask thread, because when I make one it always seems to end up getting buried.

Just listened to a Sam Harris podcast that opened my eyes a little bit on the issue of the protests:
He's one of the first people I've come across to legitimately want a real conversation on the real issues here. He makes a few interesting comments that actually seem to be very realistic but aren't the story that always comes across. You can get the gist of what he'll say by about the 20-30 minute mark, but he goes into detail on that take later.
He presents the idea that, actually, race is nowhere near as big of a part of the current issue with policing as BLM presumes, while of course coming to the sensible conclusion that Trump's reaction to this is also complete divisive lunacy. Of course nobody will want to listen to that point of view, though.
I realized that my stance on the issue was being a bit too influenced by being a part of my own minorities of gender identity and sexuality, as well as potentially being part of the autism spectrum. However, I also did find a few things he got wrong, and I'm not going to say there is no racism, because that's plainly untrue and the statistics he recites in this (nearly 2 hour long) podcast show such.
What I WILL say is we should STOP sensationalizing this issue, liberals and the right (especially the further reaches of the right) alike. Sam Harris makes a very logical assertion saying we should treat skin color like we treat hair color. Like it makes no difference to much of anything whether you have blonde or brown hair. The same should apply to the color of a person's skin. Which was exactly what MLK advocated for in the 60's, not this idea that blacks should be more equal than whites.
But there's also a lot more to this issue to unpack that quite frankly would turn into a novel. Like how blacks make a tenth of what whites make on average, or how blacks are more likely to use drugs than whites and therefore get affected more than whites would by the War on Drugs (in a negative way, of course), or also how, in all actuality, statistics show that black and hispanic cops are more likely to have a violent confrontation with a black suspect than white cops are.
If you take anything out of this essay-length status let it be this: the issues of policing and racial inequality are very likely MUCH more complicated than you think regardless of where you are on the political spectrum, and both sides of this discussion are doing immense amounts of harm here. There needs to be an actual conversation here, though of course both sides must make concessions for it to be even possible, like the right needs to concede that the police aren't always right and also to concede that racism indeed exists against blacks, while the liberals need to concede that this is no epidemic and police brutality isn't a race issue. If you can't just compromise and listen to reason, then you're too far gone and there's nothing anybody could say to bring you to sane conclusions. I once again say this to both liberals and the far right and the real left (Kyle Kulinski, Bernie Sanders, etc.) also.
TL;DR: Stop sensationalizing this issue and actually think about how it needs to be fixed. Stop being overtly racist for the sake of it, and also stop sensationalizing the issue of racism to the extreme it has been sensationalized, but instead start a honest conversation (of course allowing such by taking necessary concessions). That's the only way to fix this. And an extra note to the right: peaceful protests whether you like them or not, are protected twice over by the first amendment.

@Pastel Heart In truth I've never really entirely supported Black Lives Matter, but before and also after watching I think that they do have a point that does need to be incorporated into the conversation. But yes, I would definitely say that other than them having a little bit of a point, I think they're still causing an over-sensationalizing of the issue that's just further adding fuel to the fire.
-
@Furret ᐡ꒳ᐡ the way things are going I think anything can add fuel to the fire. If people don't stick up for their rights in these times of crisis when will they? Some people, like me, can't afford to wait until the 30s when the crisis escalates. I disregard the sensationalization and focus on the material conditions
We need a better world tomorrow, today. The media is spinning all this any which way they want but I need to stick up for what's important to me and I can't afford to be quiet.

Am I the only one that thinks that somebody like Jesse Ventura is what a Republican SHOULD be like and Bernie Sanders is what a Democrat SHOULD be like? None of this far right neocon and fake left neolib $#!+?
But people who legitimately care about people and have policies actually representative of people on those respective ends of the political spectrum?

I definitely wish people would be more level-headed and moderate, but I just looked at Ventura’s stances and it sounds like you just picked a left-of-center and a super liberal. So... left leaning on both.
Anyway, I prefer my policies a little more right-of-center, thanks.
Though yes, tribalism is ridiculous. I am 100% behind people having different viewpoints. If we were all the same we’d all stagnate and never be challenged. But we don’t need to freakin’ kill each other over it. Let’s talk about things like grown ups.

Far right snowflakes: "CHICK-FIL-A IS NO LONGER DONATING TO ANTI-GAY ORGANIZATIONS? REEEE!"
And they're accusing THEM of caving into cancel culture, when they're trying to do the EXACT same things to Chick-Fil-A now because they don't support homophobic organizations? One of these morons EVEN SAID THEY SUPPORTED THE RESTAURANT BECAUSE THEY WERE ANTI-GAY (at least SHE was honest). Seriously, the far right should stop complaining about other people playing politics until they stop doing it themselves.
I used to sort of hate Chick-Fil-A but you know what? After offending these far right morons, they have gained my respect. Even if I think their food is overpriced in comparison to other fast food chains, they've got me now quite in the same way Gillette did when they offended meninists.
- Show previous comments 1 more
-
I would say that, except they did that with money that customers spend on their food, and I don't feel like it's morally right in my mind to indirectly donate to LGBT hate organizations. But they don't do that anymore, and they have also offended the far right, so they're OK in my book now. More than makes up for the beef I used to have with them.
-
And it really shouldn't fly at all. I mean it's not like that should cause everyone to riot on the streets or anything, but it definitely should have a major effect on their cash flow if people actually cared to think about things like their local fast food place being a big donor to LGBT hate organizations, or really any hate group really. It's just capitalism working as intended.

Why does it feel like most YouTube videos involving politics have a far right bias that can be told just by the title of the video?

@Alastor Frankly, it's hard to particularly define an ideology. Though I'd suppose it's best to define it with an example. If it sounds like something Alex Jones or Rush Limbaugh or Breitbart would say, I think it would qualify.

@Woohoo It's a meme about some VTuber who apparently thought that it was funny when Mumbo said "Eekum Bokum" so she just repeated it several times on her stream and apparently that became a meme because why not.
I thought it was funny for like 5 minutes to be honest, and now it's just annoying.

Answer me this: How is a total @$$hole in a movie effective comic relief, people who defend Mark's characterization in Midsommar?
-
I think the idea is tone change. He's definitely an asshole, and while he wasn't funny, it's funny to laugh at him because he's such an asshole. Like wow, he thinks he's so right, but he's a fucking asshole.
But yea whenever he's on screen he adds humor or at least provides a tone change, so when the scary/creepy/etc. stuff starts happening it's more effective/has the audience on edge again.
If movie is just suspenseful the whole time, then it gets kind of boring. There's no suspense because it's just been milked completely. So yea. I thought it was effective comic relief, but yes he's an asshole. Even if you think he's an asshole it definitely provides a tone change cuz you're just like "I wanna punch this muthafucker, oh shit hold on scary stuff is happening again" XD
-
All he does in my mind is distract the movie from what it should actually be doing at that point in the plot, that being actually provide real tension. Which, unfortunately, because of his existence among other things, it fails to do even remotely as well as Hereditary (last year's offering from the same director and screenwriter) in that department.
The movie the way I see it is essentially horror... Without any actual horror in it. The discomfort it tries to build is immediately tossed out by how much I wished that @$$hole dead, and it was REALLY disappointing on that front how unceremonious his off-screen "death" was. To do the audience a courtesy of having to deal with a character like this, at least show their death on screen... Also, if possible, make it as early and satisfying as possible. That way it's not a total waste to have them constantly breaking the tension.
And this is a big part of the problem. You don't need horror shoved in your face, especially every second, but at the same time, taking a break from it just ruins the build-up, which by the way in this case actually didn't even have much of an actual payoff. In a way Midsommar is really like a worse version of the original Wicker Man. That movie never needed a relief, by the way. Neither did the Shining, or the Exorcist, or Hereditary also...
-
I mean that is why it’s labeled a thriller film and not a horror film. It was trying to make the audience uncomfortable which I think it did a good job at. Understandable that you didn’t like one aspect of the movie, tho I will say Mark died fairly early. I think Ari Aster didn’t want to show the onscreen death because they wanted to make the movie feel more mysterious.
I mean audience deal with characters different. I personally wouldn’t have gotten any gratification seeing him killed. Yes he was an asshole but just like many humans they’re not deserving of death simply from that, so seeing him die, at least for me, would do nothing.
Again like I said Ari was trying to provide tone change, and maybe having humor, one could argue, is an easy way of doing so, but I thought it was good. So yeah maybe he didn’t have to be an asshole and just provide non-asshole humor, but he was also there I think to show how much of an asshole the boyfriend actually was as well.
Hereditary didn’t need relief, but that’s a different film that probably used other methods of tone changing that, one could argue, I def. would say, had much better form, but of course I’m sure many would argue, I have met those that do, feel that movie was just too ominous to the point it got boring or it was just weird and not horror-ble.

Well, I'm finally catching up on MLP, sort of. I'm currently on the episode "She's All Yak" so I'm a ways behind.
