That's assuming they were even connected to them in the first place. Honestly, I think they were just being used by them, not because they were connected to them. They didn't change shapes when they collected them, not to mention they had to as it seemed, force the elements out of the tree of harmony.

That or simply because it's not how Celestia used them. As in she used them specifically to cast the banishing spell, not to purify her. It's possible she didn't even think she could purify her sister. But again, it could of easily been the fact that it was just her. As for Starswirl being the prediction maker. It is possible... you never know. Not to mention the prediction didn't even refer to Nightmare moon by name... But the "mare in the moon". But I'm more under the assumption it was someone else rather than Starswril… but wouldn't bother me if I was wrong. Do we even know the life span of a pony? I mean yeah we see them old and what not, but we don't know how long it took them to get to those ages. So 1000 years could be in the time frame of an adult pony. If not, it could also vary well be a side effect of being an Alicorn.

Here's the thing though. The movie is 100% cannon rather you like it or not. Because unlike EG Season 8 references the movie several times and it's a direct reference. Including locations, events, people, etc. Unlike EG which has thus far only had 1 reference to EG which were the Siren's appearing in the flash back in the Season 7 finale... which even then you could simply ignore if you really wanted too. (I'm not counting Flash Sentry's appearances as they could be as easily written off as someone saying "Rainbow Dash is in FIM and in EG so cannon confirmed!" or something along those lines). Anyways, truth be told, that's the thing when it comes to the sun and moon. Because, there is life outside of equistria so how would Celestia move the sun for them? Not to mention as was mentioned, there's the issue of the 'sun moves across the sky'. Personally, I think it's just more a 'inconsistency' they just don't care enough to really explain. As they could simply see it that Celestia moves the sun into a 'noon' position and leaves it there all day until it's time to lower it again. Yet, to help show time of day in the story, they move the sun along as they see fit.

I doubt they're straight up not allowed to do so, since if that were the case, pretty sure they'd not have been allowed to add the siren's to the Season 7 finale.

exactly. And it'd help the fan's of EG actually get some more fun nods to the EG series.

It's still an 'easter-egg' or what not and still showing that they are connected. You can't exactly write out an easter-egg/reference just because it'd still work in the series if the other one didn't exist. I know, most shows like this never reference the movies... granted they usually have it set up where they don't even need to do so. This one directly ties in the movie. Which is a bit of a shame... because I mean, even small hints towards it could easily be ignored by EG haters... not to mention like that book reference could easily just be written off as not important since they'd of had to actually seen the 2nd movie in order to even get it. Which assuming they hated the 1st, odds are they didn't watch the 2nd.

I'll admit, I don't know what's off about it. Is it her neck? because I honestly never noticed anything really off about the character during it. :/

Personally, I think having Day Breaker return in an episode or 'finale/premier 2 parter' would be quiet interesting. I do like the ideas of maybe it being she was being controlled her and Luna... And maybe even Midnight Sparkle's pony version I could even see that maybe it's not mind-control persay but more a manipulation. As in some bad guy manipulates them into returning to their former states. Ofcourse, she turned evil "in the dream logic" because she became power hungry. You could even have it where maybe Celetria is at a point where she has to face some kind of bad pony and her power's not up to snuff. So she's forced to go DayBreaker in order to stop it... but then :O she turns around and becomes evil herself! And the mane 6 have to stop her then.

Honestly, I think the biggest reason for them not going to the pony world is more so out of respect for Sunset's and/or pony Twilight's wishes. First there would be confusion with the characters and you're assuming they'd not have cutie marks or even look different. Seriously, the only difference between Sci-twi and Princess Twilight is their hair style (which in Legend of Everfree showed that Sci-twi's hair would look like Princess Twilight's if she didn't have it up) and that Sci-twi wears glasses. As for the clothing accessories... seems the portal removes clothes (from human to pony) and converts other items like backpacks into it's alternate universe counterpart (saddle bags to Backpacks and vice versa). So if they went through the portal, they'd not have any clothes on. As for cutie marks... again it's an assumption they'd just not have them. (minus the pinki pie shorts) we've not seen a character born in the human world go into the pony world. And if you noticed, every EG girl has their cutie mark on their outfit in some way. (in their 'normal' attires... not counting Sci-twi's Crystal prep uniform).

I agree that most of it is just unimportant.. but you have a few times where I'm curious as to like "What about their parents"... like in Rainbow Rocks, where Twilight was at that sleep over and she was randomly in the kitchen working on that spell... I dunno, just felt like the parents weren't at home or something :/ However, 2 of the 'parents' can already be explained. 1) Sci-Twi parents aren't around because Crystal Prep is some form of bording school, which you can tell based on her room in the Friendship games... admittedly doesn't explain Sci-twi's move to the other school so :/ 2) Applejack... in FIM her parents are... supposedly dead. Thus she lives with her Grandmother. Assuming Applejack's parents are the same here... then we've already seen grannySmith as the lunch lady in the school.... granted makes me wonder how she does that AND runs the farm. But *shrug*

Funny enough, the Shadowbolts are a reference to a FIM thing already. In the Series Premere (pretty sure ep 2 as I forget exact where the TBC was) but The "Shadow Bolts" was the group of fake ponies that tried to get Rainbow Dash to join them during her 'Loyalty test'. However, I don't just mean the Pony Equivilant to EG exclusive characters. I mean actual tie ins... Like, the season 7 finale flash back. Other things they could even do.. even subtly is like maybe have Twilight randomly writing in her "Magical diary to Sunset" at the beginning of a scene in FIM and then she closes it and you see the symbol on it to know what she's doing. Or even maybe see in the background or a random book on her desk or book shelf. I mean it'd be subtly hints of the series being connected and make fun little easter eggs.

dang, I didn't get any notifications to this topic... boo. But anyways, that's the thing with Sunset because I mean, where does she live exactly? What about the parents of the others? I mean it's possible that Human Sunset is just in some other location... but I think it would be interesting for them to touch on it... and honestly I really only see 2 possible scenrio's they'd go with for the aftermath of it... 1) At the end, human Sunset will simply return to wherever it is she's currently living. 2) She'll head to the pony world perhaps become a character in FIM... dunno how likely there'll do it but still. I would mention they could have her die... but so far literally only 1 character in FIM and EG have died... maybe 2 pending on what you think happened to King Sombra. Also... Are you confusing Sunset with Starlight?
