@Lord Midnight Madness, neat! Have you recapped it yet?
I have 2 tabletop and 1 large console radio. Got all 3 in good working order. Those old tube radios are definitely fun to repair!

@ChB Indeed it has, BFFFF!

@ChB, I agree. I like the way things are presented in a lot of these old videos. Makes it more interesting and easier to understand. I like the hands on approach with instruments and setups, as that is the best way I learn.

Did you think you saw something in the Horsehead Nebula &
stare at it for three straight hours only, to realize you were wrong? /
-
@Sparklefan1234, I may have done something like that a time or two.
It's easy to get lost in Jupiter's cloud bands at high magnification.
-
Imaging gear is inside and I'm sleepy. I'll share the results with y'all tomorrow.
Good night everypony!

@Arc Flash, I keep a few in my stash. I like fixing those old tube radios. Most of them just need new capacitors and they'll sing again.

Before I had dedicated astronomy cameras, I would take pictures of the Moon with my phone held just above the eyepiece.

The Orion Nebula:
I noticed a huge decrease in noise after combining 160 exposures vs 30 or so like I use to. With the intervalometer operating the camera, I can obtain more exposures without having to freeze my butt off. Some streaks are visible near the brightest stars. I probably should have used the autoguider. I will next time.
Can't wait to try the Horsehead Nebula again
-
Got the intervalometer set up and running. Now I can do astrophotography and watch tv at the same time... or visit the forums.
Tonight's target is the Orion Nebula

@Twilight Luna, will do. Orion Nebula image should be posted sometime tomorrow. I'm curious to see how it turns out with the extra data from the intervalometer

How's everypony doing today?
The clouds are still around, but it's still nice to see some sunshine!

@Stone Cold Steve Tuna, I have. Here's one from a month ago.
If you're interested, I have a thread in the Nonpony Art Section with all of my astronomy photos.

Hope you get to feeling better, @Cash In

2018 will come to a close in a couple hours (for me). Wish everypony a happy New Year!
On a side note: I haven't done a blog on here yet. Might do one on my astronomy plans for 2019.

@Arc Flash, I hope so. this weekend is showing clear, so far.
Thank you, @DivineBlood1000. And happy new year to you too

@Tacodidra, Rainbow Dash is so fired when her boss finds out.

I might try this on my C8. I'm usually pretty good at dialing in the focus, but really cold nights can be a bit frustrating. The grease on the focuser tends to stiffen, which means more force is needed to turn the knob.
