Enjoying some coffee in my Applejack mug. Good morning, everypony!

I've been reading a lot bout prion diseases such as Scrapie and CJD. Scary stuff, especially considering the spread of chronic wasting disease (CWD) in deer. Hope it doesn't jump the species barrier
-
@Duality, I am kinda surprised by that.
I seem to recall a zombie movie with Billy Zane in it. I believe it centered around mad cow disease in hamburgers turning people into zombies. It's been a long time since I've seen it, so my memory of it is hazy.

@Stone Cold Steve Tuna, It took a lot of practice to get here and I still need more practice.
Focusing ultraviolet light is almost an art for a couple reasons: Autofocus doesn't work in UV and there's just not much light to work with thanks to atmospheric absorption and scatter. Even on a bright sunny day, the ISO will be around 3200 and shutter at 1/30s with a very fast lens.
I usually take 3 shots of the same subject and pick the best one. Sometimes I'll have to reshoot if the focus is soft.
I can talk all day about this subject

A powerful cold front is on its way. I will gladly take freezing temps and sunshine over this rainy mess!

@Twilight Luna, he's still around. I think he's eating some flowers in Roseluck's garden.
Twilight Sparkle needed some love

@The Recherche, Winter Wrap Up? Yes, please!
With the flowers beginning to bloom, I plan to do some UV shots this afternoon. Tonight, I wish to try out my wide angle lens on the Winter Milky Way. Might take a peek at Mars too, but it's so tiny and far away now.
Hope you get some clear skies

@Rikifive Thanks, my friend! The Coco avatar did indeed become a trademark of sorts for me – it might have been my longest-used avatar (I'm not completely sure but I guess so), and it helps that it's a character not everyone uses on their avatars!
I can't imagine you having an avatar with a character other than Derpy. I know you have in the past, but the one you have now is so cute... and I think it's become a trademark of yours, like Coco has for me.
-
Yeah, I recall seeing mostly her in your profile. Also, you really like her, so she has to be there! And yup, it's indeed pretty rare to see users putting her as an avatar.
Really? Now this is something I did not expect. I believe I had the pink pone of mine for the longest time ~ set to Lyra at some point for a short period ~ and then in the end switched to Derpy. She is there since 24th August 2018, so it's pretty much only half a year by now, compared to almost 3 years of me being here in total. Either way, yeah, I've noticed some users thinking of me when seeing Derpy, so I suppose you're right. I kinda miss the pink pone though by the way. Now that was a trademark-of-some-sort of mine. Even on non-mlp forums I often was referred as the pink pony and everyone knew who it is about. Sometimes they still call me that way.
-
@Rikifive I remember quite a few users saying they associate me with Coco. And I've found that pretty remarkable since I constantly switch characters and avatars.
I remember the pink pony now that you mentioned her! She was cute! Yeah, your Derpy avatar is the one I associate with you, though it might be partially related to when I've been active here. I only started being more active last spring, so I can't remember much about my first few months here.

The proper UV/IR cut filter for my camera lens arrived today. Now I can stop using my telescope filter for visible shots.
The new filter has a tighter bandwidth similar to the factory one that's usually installed in front of the sensor. The one I have for astronomy use has a wider bandwidth, which allows some NIR to pass thru, resulting in inaccurate colors.
You can see the blocking effect in the NIR image.

@Sondash Studios, search ebay for a converted DSLR camera and an IR pass filter for your lens. It'll get ya started.

Just finished watching Hard Rain. An appropriate movie considering the weather this week.

@Cash In, it was. Hard Rain is one of my favorite movies, just not the weather.
@Sondash Studios, Indeed! And there's still more rain coming
Tho, it looks like Sunday - Tuesday night is showing clear. That would be a wonderful break from the tropical weather
-
So it looks like Sunday night is going to be clear.
I have a wide angle lens I want to try out on the winter Milky Way. Oh, please be clear!
-
@Twilight Luna, if it's clear Sunday night, I'll give Luna a big squeezing hug!
