  1. My thoughts on the episode. I don't think it's the worst episode for it's face value, but in some perspective, it could be considered the worst.
  2. I wonder how Starlight and Sugar Belle would get along. I imagine that they would be extremely uncomfortable just together, but I want to see an episode of them trying to be friends in a right way. I think it would be at least three or four episodes of it since there were multiple Daring Do episodes, Wonderbolts Academy episodes, School of Friendship episodes, Rarity's Boutique episodes, Crystal Empire episodes. I think they should have included it for Starlight. I think if they replaced the entire Student Six members with Luster Dawn, it would have been more efficient. There would still be plenty more tume for Starlight, Mane Six, and if they needed a student episode for the School of Friendship, they just could have used Luster Dawn (and some minor two or three friends like Twilight's friends from Canterlot). The last episode? Just make it several years, not decades. I think the problem isn't just about how much she's powerful. (and partially it is) The problem is that all of the sudden, she was like sucking all the practical mindsets and problem solving abilities of all Mane Six and put it in one pony, then she could single handedly solve all the problems from episodes. Usually fixing things with magic was Twilight's position in the show, and Starlight replaced that role. And it's less interesting because of less character development, less nuances of the character, less of Twilight being Twilight, leas of Mane Six dynamics.
  3. Yeah. I haven't seen Starlight being interesting without any other characters attached to her.
  4. I think it's because there is a difference between what people think she is supposed to be and what she actually does. I also think Rainbow Dash is harder to write than other characters in the show. Other characters have less obvious flaws, but Rainbow Dash has a fixed set of flaws to start with. She can be really hard to balance and can easily fall into mannerism by the writers.
  5. I think Trixie and Maud are more realistic characters than most people give credit for. Those two don't usually directly express how they feel or what they think. (even Maud hides most of herself while saying those things) Most of us have met those Trixies and Mauds in real life.
  6. Starlight and her friends. What do you think of the characters, intriducrions, chemistry, buildup, story arc, individual episode qualities, dynamics, the whole concept and execution?
  7. G5 definately relies on G4's success and it's fans, so the characters would be recognizable. If not, I would be more interested, becaust it means they got something to prove on their own.
  8. I would have loved extra episodes of Cheerilee, Zecora, Moondancer, Flurry Heart, Mayor Mare. Coco Pommel and Lightning Dust's episodes were underwhelming, and most of the Daring Do's episodes could have been cut down.
  9. Well, they could have made an extra episode where Svengallop starts to show a sign of remorse. That's what happened to Diamond Tiara. Also, He is bad, but I don't see him as past redeemable.
  10. MLP is for little girls. I think we all know it and was expecting to see it. It's about a magical land full of ponies and unicorns with rainbows. They even have shiny diamond ponies, come on. If MLP becomes gender neutral and still manages to be a good show, then it's fine, but it would be something very different, and would be different to why I liked FiM in the first place.
  11. Fanwork and original creations are different. They should be judged by different standards. But sometimes I see fanworks as less creative than original works, because you know, they are original.
  12. If Diamond Tiara, Starlight Glimmer and Tempest Shadow can reform, I don't see why he can't.
  13. I think EQG is a failed attempt to put the transforming magic girls trope into MLP. (and 'failed' doesn't mean the show is bad) That's why I want to see a japanese anime studio independantly making a spin off EQG series.
  14. I disagree with what you are implying in the question and the premise of the question. But I think what you are asking is what's the differences between so called graphic novels and comic books. Even Alan Moore said that they are comics. And Neil Gaiman said that graphic novel is just a more sophisticated word to describe comics. He said thet he takes it as a compliment, but he sees them as comics. I mean, what's the difference between comics and graphic novel exactly? Comics are silly and graphic novel is deep? Graphic novel is just like a made up marketing word as if they are ashamed of being comic books. There are comic books, and some of them have a more serious tone for elder audiences.
  15. Tenet, Dune, The French Dispatch, Last Night in Soho, The Trial of Chicago 7 and Wonder Woman 1984.
  16. Very limitted public transportation. I gotta get myself a driver's license.
  17. I think A Royal Problem was a fast paced well executed episode, but it also suffered from it's nature, which is that it is a fan service episode and heavily inspired by fanfics. The Daybreaker scene is the prime example of this. I didn't had problem with the princesses depiction in the episode itself simply because they have already lost divinity and dignity long time ago, but that doesn't mean that I like it like that. This problem is more prominent in the episode Between Dark and Dawn, which the sisters act even more like teenagers and their special position as princesses (or ex-princesses) doesn't get reflected and added to the equation. I get that the episode tried to show that they are also very human and just like us, but yes and no to that. They are princesses. They are different in that sense. They are also adults. At this point, Princess Cadance is the only one who acts like one. This is no different to Rarity and Sweetie Belle fighting. It would be more interesting and more funny if they were acting like adult princesses and reflect the specific and special position that they are in. They barely showed them acting like princesses, so if they have shown enough of that in previous episodes, then this might worked. I don't have a problem with Starlight in the episode itself, but I've been having a problem with her long time ago. So her being in the episode isn't a problem, herself is a big problem in the whole franchise. The episode starts with a vague premise of who Starlight is, and that's how the show wants us to think of her, but she actually ins't like that. If this episode is the first MLP episode you watched, it might not be a problem, but if you have seen all the previous episodes, something about Starlight might feel wrong. Somebody said a simple solution to this, replace Starlight with Discord. And come on. Starlight gets away with everything including deprogramming, stripping off someone's human rights, slavery, harassment, mind control, several world endings for the sake of bringing misery, a threat against royal authority, violence against children, and the worst of them all, being a completely boring character. I think there are positive changes on your episode, but I think episodes about the past are less powerful than episodes about current events in general. The inclusion of Celestia and Luna's teenage years and Starswirl could cause the similar problem I mentioned, relying heavy on fan services. But that doesn't mean it can't be done right. I also think the connection between past and present is a little rough. What happened between Luna and Celestia is in the past, and we kinda all know what happened. So if the episode just proceeded with that nuance (without completely relying on that or flooding with awkward past references), I think it would work just fine. The two princesses trying to remain calm, but trying to recover from their past is an important aspect that never got dealt within the episode. (which could have been fine with Celestia forgiving Luna at Season 1 episode 2, but if they wanted to delve deeper into their relationship after that, they should have been prepared better) For example, there are certain dynamics between ex-partner thieves in various fictions, which the audiences are able to catch up their past only by their nuances, and that might work with Celestia and Luna.
  18. https://youtu.be/qKHV04Co_g0 Here's one for you. It's at the second place when searched 'Equestria Girls' on Youtube.
  19. I SAID NOBODY EVER REBOOTED IT. EVER.
  20. I think the person above already answered my question with Equinity.
  21. The Show Stoppers It's About Time One Bad Apple Rainbow Falls Made in Manehattan The Cart Before the Ponies Daring Done? Non-Compete Clause Uprooted
  22. I think pretty clearly Starlight already knew she was doing something wrong. Her hypocrisy gets revealed quite easily right after the mane six exposes it. If she really believed what she was saying, she would have removed her own cutie mark. But of course she is a communist leader, and some ponies are more equal than others...
  23. I agree that the town ponies not getting involved was a bad decision. 3 seconds of a segment in a song isn't enough, it should have been made into an episode. But I still disagree on she is redeemable in season 5 premiere. Making a cult and deprogramming is disturbing and scary as hell, that's really something you have to work hard, efficient and know exactly what you're doing. It's the worst thing you can do to a human maybe except for murdering. And to add season 5 finale on top of that, she's the only villain that did evil for the sake of being evil (to bring misery). Think about that.
