  1. I can't leave my room without her following me everywhere and begging for me to pet her.

    1. Fasu

      Fasu

      Aww, I wouldn't mind that

  2. To me, friendship has always been when I felt happy being with someone, and I could make them feel happy being around me. So, a fairytale, basically.
  3. Unironically, that used to be my favorite movie until I watched the MLP Movie. Now it's my second favorite. Waaaaay back when I was in rehab, someone suggested we watch Footloose for some god forsaken reason, and it was the worst movie I'd ever seen. Of course, I also try to avoid bad movies like the plague, so this is the only one I can remember ever hating.
  4. 8/10 I don't like acapella all that much, but it wasn't bad. Also, you get extra points because the last marching band show I performed was Queen themed.
  5. It's the tearing sound of love-notes Drowning out these gray stained windows And the view outside is sterile And I'm only two cubes down I'd photocopy all the things that we could be If you took the time to notice me But you can't now, I don't blame you And it's not your fault that no one ever does
  6. Mine gets called Star City a bunch because of our giant illuminated star. It's the most interesting thing about my city, which is kind of sad.
  7. Rock is my favorite, mostly alternative, emo, and punk rock. Especially music by My Chemical Romance. The lyrics in their Bullets album were amazing, even if the songs themselves didn't sound very polished. They're the only band who don't have a single song I haven't listened to.
  8. I bought four yards of fur for my Rarity fursuit a couple weeks ago thinking it would be more than enough, went to trace out the pattern, then realized I'm a bit short. Now I have to wait four days for more fur to get here, and I ended up spending more than I would have if I had just ordered enough fur to begin with.

So that's annoying, but now at least I know that ponysuits take an absurd amount of fur, even compared to digi suits. Five and a half yards of a single color. That's a lot.

Not yet, sorry. My first attempt was in early high school, and it was pretty bad. It's now hiding in a box somewhere in my house. I wasn't super proud of my second one either, and there aren't many pictures of it that show the full suit. I do have one my mom took after I finished it, but that's all.

Here's the picture. I know the suit is bad and my room is a horrid mess, please don't judge me for it. This picture was taken at about 11pm the night before BronyCon, immediately after I finished making the suit (I had to wake up at 4am to catch my train, so I finished it with literally hours to spare). I didn't exactly have time to clean up.

I could make a whole blog post as to why that suit was bad, but I think the picture sums it up pretty well.

As for my Rarity fursuit (and any other ponysuits I'll eventually make), I'm so much happier with how it's turning out (the eyes and mouth especially). I have a few in-progress pictures in my blog, and I'll post more once it's done, both to my blog and the social media linked in my account.

For a first suit, it looks pretty good. I would love to have my own fursuit some day.

They're expensive and a lot of work to maintain, but they're definitely a lot of fun. Hope you get one soon.

  9. Just bought my set. I really wanted to get the playmats too, but they're more money than I have to spare right now.

Yeah, I've posted there a couple times.

  10. Save Yourself, I'll Hold Them Back - My Chemical Romance
  11. Physical. They're a lot more convenient than digital books (as long as space isn't an issue), and I hate audio books because I like to go at my own speed, which is usually pretty slow when I'm reading for enjoyment. I like to take the time to imagine every scene as detailed as possible.
  12. A whopping 26 MPH in a Prius, going uphill. This was back in May I think, not long after I got my learner's permit. It was only my second time driving, and I actually haven't gotten back on the road since. Being responsible for a two-ton hunk of steel that's easily capable of causing immense amounts of harm is very stressful for me. I just don't feel comfortable behind the wheel of a car. It's weird how I feel less safe in a massive steel cage with crumple zones and air bags and such than I do on what is basically a two-wheeled death machine with nothing but some plastic, foam, and fabric keeping me alive.
  13. Thanks! I've considered something similar to that for other cosplay I want to do (Aatrox from League of Legends is the main one. He's got some badass voice lines), and for the Rainbow Dash suit I want to make in a couple of years once my skills improve, I'm planning to add a voice changer and some other really cool tech that's never been done before. It probably hasn't been done for a very good reason, but I'm stubborn and I'm going to try anyway.
  14. So after overcoming a fairly serious thumb injury and making the life-changing decision to quit my last job, I finally finished Rarity's head (and by finally finished I mean the head's been finished for a week, I've just been dealing with her mane up until last night). Long synthetic hair is a nightmare to deal with. I spent way too long trying to get her mane the way it is in the show, and I just couldn't get it right. No matter what I tried I couldn't get the hair to make one large curl, so in the end I just took a regular curling iron and went at it. I'll have to brush and re-curl it before every use (you can see how messy it got after just one day), so that'll be mildly annoying, but not too bad since it only takes about half an hour. Even though I'm still disappointed I couldn't get it how I want, I still think it looks okay. Moving on from her mane, while the head does have some other problems, I'm just happy at how much I improved compared to my last head (which I will not show). I still have problems with mouths, but I did a hell of a lot better this time around. There are also visible gaps in the edges of the eyes where the plastic meets the foam, but I think I can find a way around that next time. And I also want to switch to 3D printing once I get enough money, which would eliminate that problem all together. And, of course, nearly everything is magnetic. Her swappable eyelids for different expressions, her mane (both front and rear sections), and even her horn are removable. I would have done her ears as well (for transportation purposes), but the strength of magnet needed to hold them on properly through the foam and fur would make the head way too heavy. Not to mention they're $40 a pair, and I'd need at least four magnets per ear for that. And they're not pictured, but I have a pair of removable 40x20mm fans hooked up to a 3000 mAh battery the size of a credit card and width of a smartphone (no, I'm not exaggerating. It's tiny and weighs next to nothing). Everything fits inside the head and the battery can last for almost ten hours, so I think that it's much preferable over my last setup that had the wires for all six fans in the suit running to one battery bank. Sure, that one may have enough capacity to run every fan for 24 hours, but that's overkill, and it's rather inconvenient to have wires running all over the inside of the suit. Here are some pictures. Since the eyes are so massive, vision is about as good as it gets in a fursuit. That also helps ventilation along, which is also really good, given that there's two 40mm fans in the head - one that draws fresh air in through the mouth, and another that exhausts hot hair out in front of the ear (the vent is hidden by her mane. It's very difficult to see, but it still draws a lot of the heat from inside the head). Overall I'm happy with the results, given my experience level. I've definitely improved a lot since my last head, and that's good enough for me. Now on to the body suit. I worked on that all day today, and let me tell you ponysuits are so much more complicated than fursuits, even digisuits. The legs aren't too difficult, but you have to pad the arms if you want the suit to look good, and that's a lot harder than it sounds. Me wanting to add dual 80mm fans to each arm doesn't make it any easier. But still, I think I've got some good progress going, so we'll see how it turns out in the end.
  15. As hugely disappointed as I was that I couldn't make Rarity's mane correct no matter what I tried, I still think the finished head looks acceptable. I'll make a blog post about it tomorrow with more pictures.

The curls in the part of her mane that come over my shoulder don't really show up in this picture.

This is actually a nice job man! Keep it up, I am curious how the final will look!

  16. This is the only video of this song on YouTube for some weird reason (epilepsy warning, I guess).
  17. I have a thing for red hair and freckles Glasses are a bonus. Same?
  18. Pretty good, surprisingly. I re-organized my room and moved a bunch of junk I don't use anymore into storage (it took three hours, but I'm glad I actually have floor space again) and got some pretty decent work done on a project. I've been feeling great ever since I quit my last job.
  19. Damn near everything, but it's tolerable unless it involves other people. It's one of the reasons I had to quit my last job, because I'd always get super nervous for no reason whenever one of my coworkers walked into the room, and the stress was getting to be too much. Thinking about the future is another one. If I can't make my current dream job work out (2 days in and it's feeling great, but there's no promise it'll be profitable), then I'd have to go back to working eight hour shifts at a company I couldn't care less about again and I'm not sure if I could handle that. Five months at my last job pushed me past my limit, and I don't think I can go back to something like that.
  20. Rarity's mane is pretty much done. I just have to wait for a few shaping materials to arrive in the mail and her head will be finished. Now that I'm doing this full time, progress is gonna get much faster.

Ignore the chunks of foam and stuff all over my floor. It reappears within a couple days of me vacuuming it, so I've given up on keeping my carpet clean.

It takes a lot, but it's enjoyable work.

This one's for me, but I'm gonna start making them for other people soon.

  21. I just started playing a game called KurtzPel. It's a really fun third-person fighting game (which is surprising because I don't generally like those very much), but I wish I could get more than 20 fps on minimum graphics. I take back what I said about it being a good game. The PvE mechanics are amazing and the art style is good, but they ruined it by making it heavily PvP oriented. The game mechanics aren't tuned for that, so I have no clue why it isn't mainly PvE.
  22. Like I said, I don't know. It just makes me feel unhappy. And I don't like Soarindash because there's next to no reason to ship them. Soarin is a very flat character. Maybe if they'd developed him more it would be okay.
