When the stair truck doesn’t crank when a jet is about to start up so we have to improvise.
It’s been cold the past few days and we forgot to make sure it would crank and make preparations if it didn’t before the crew got there. The Vice President of my company happened to be here too so we got a little chewing for forgetting that lol. His words “Make sure you have it more prepared next time, that made us look like a bunch of f****n amateurs!”
Oops.

Oh look, another song I’m gonna have on repeat for awhile.

@Toshigami Equine Oh yes. There were supposed to be four more even, but they got stuck in Nashville for maintenance reasons. They usually come through when going back and forth from camp. Usually around 8 and sometimes up to 18. They come in waves of 4 around thirty minutes apart usually so they don't overwhelm us lol. Always a good time.

Today was a great start to 2022 for me. I went to @Phosphor’s house today for the first time, and he fried some catfish and shrimp. He also rode me around his property in his side by side, and we walked in the creek by his house because it’s somehow still warm enough here in January to do that. I’m really looking forward to future get togethers, he’s a really cool guy.

Happy new year everyone!

Merry Christmas everyone

And someone stole both my credit card numbers. Where that happened I have no idea, but thanks asshole, not like my Christmas week hasn’t already been shit enough.

Gonna have to put my cat, Angel, down. She’s been doing really bad the past week or so, and she’s 19 years old, so.
I guess I was expecting it any time now, but can’t say it hurts any less. I was in fourth grade when I got her as a kitten in 2002, and she’s practically been there through everything with me.
Im just hoping I can hold it together while at work.
I hope everyone else is having a better day.

@Splashee Yes the orange lights are very aesthetically pleasing! The main ramp of my airport is slowly converting to LEDs though, and while I can see the ramp much better with those LEDs shining, I'm gonna miss that orange glow.
@Sparkly sparks You know that didn't really cross my mind at the time, haha.
@Toshigami Equine The movie I think cause that's the only one I knew about to be honest.

Had a large performance group chartered a large jet out of here today. Watched one person get escorted off of the plane and arrested for having a lot of meth in his suitcase.
Don’t do drugs kids. Makes you dumb enough to think you’ll get away with meth going through TSA
The stupidity of folks never ceases to amaze me

I saw some dude get tased by cops on the way to Memphis tonight. Was driving by and all I saw was a cop pointing something at him and suddenly the dude dropped like a plank lol. Dunno what he did but I’m not envious of that guy!
Anyways I got an early flight to catch tomorrow. Goodnight everyone.

I’m happy to say I haven’t been tased myself but I’ve seen it happen.

The new airport director has been on our asses lately about overriding the gates to open them because our badges quit working. My coworker got yelled at the other day for it, and my manager got the what for today. It’s getting on my nerves especially when it’s the administrative part the director is over that are the ones that are supposed to fix badge issues like that yet he hasn’t, and yet still wants to whine at us about it. Our badges haven’t worked in months.
I get it. Security and all, and we aren’t really supposed to do that, but there’s no other way right now, and we are a small town airport in bumf*** Mississippi. We aren’t Atlanta, lmao. Not like we are just letting anyone and their mothers through anyway.

I wouldn’t get it either if someone with a longer face than me asked me that lol.

My granduncle turned 100 today.

A famous singer is flying into my airport Friday. How exciting. It means I get to stay awhile after hours to wait on their concert to finish, probably have a bunch of weird requests thrown my way, help with their bags and everything, and not get tipped for any of the inconveniences cause not a single famous person who’s flown in here has ever tipped me.
I’m just whining though. Not like I depend on tips, but when a famous person comes in they almost always leave at odd hours usually when we are closed , and always some extra crap they request that we gotta do with em, so tips for the inconveniences would be nice. Not like they can’t afford it, lol.

@Firefighter Equine I’m sure they do. I mean most of them I’ve come across so far haven’t been rude or anything, some can be quite talkative. They’re just a bit demanding with nothing in return.
A lot of airports they’re used to flying into are 24/7 so I would like to give the benefit of doubt that maybe they don’t realize that I’m holding over at work specifically for them.
@TomDaBombMLP So it seems.
@EpicEnergy Thanks! I’m sure it’ll all go pretty well.

Oldie but still a goodie.

Got a Pegasus’s view of my city tonight.
This is the best perk that comes with working at an airport. Getting to ride on a plane a lot was something I always wanted to do since I was a kid. Never really imagined I’d ever get to without being a pilot myself though. Until I got this job years ago. Makes me really wish I could get a pilots license, though.
Goodnight everyone.

Flight attendant: Any candy you find cleaning the plane is yours!
Me: Bet!
Very apt for OctoberAlso y’all don’t know how tiring it is to climb up and down these stairs with trash bags full of trash, and half full Gatorade bottles over and over again while cleaning a Boeing 757.
And it was the most trashed I’ve ever seen a football team leave a plane. Open drinks, open candy, and sandwich wrappers with crumbs all in it everywhere and all over the carpet. Like they don’t think people have to clean the shit after them. Seriously, not naming the football team, but fuck y’all sincerely. Don’t know how y’all managed to make the worst mess I’ve ever seen in my career on just a 45 minute flight.

Surprised you are brave enough to eat the candy left behind. I'm not sure I would be. Too many urban legends about tampered candy has got me superstitious.
QuoteOpen drinks, open candy, and sandwich wrappers with crumbs all in it everywhere and all over the carpet.
Is that the majority of the mess? Because that's terrible, but I've also heard way worse. I've seen messes so bad, I can't even talk about it on this forum because it'd be against the rules.

Customer keeps being rude with us about why we don’t ever put his plane in the hangar. 1)Cause we barely have room 2) cause you haven’t paid your rent since being here. We’ve told you multiple times that we only put you in in inclement weather if we have room.
It’s never an acceptable answer for him if course, but not sure what he’s expecting. Don’t think him going to corporate is gonna help when all we have to do is show them he never pays. Lol. The entitlement of some people lol. Good thing I don’t have to take it
Good morning everyone, hope your day is going well.

Almost lost a long time base customer today. He took off and five minutes in he started having trouble controlling the airplane. He landed at another airport and found out that one of the elevators (makes the plane go up and down) was nearly broken off barely hanging on. Had it completely broken off he’d have lost control, so he was incredibly lucky, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen him that shaken up before when he got back. He was as white as a sheet. I’m just glad he’s okay. Most of the base customers I work with are nice folks and I’d hate to see something bad happen to them.
It had just been replaced too, so someone at the maintenance shop here screwed up, which is sadly unsurprising. I never recommend the shop here to any customer we get, I always point them to other shops at airports nearby, cause the owner of the one here is sleazy, and I’d never forgive myself if something happened to someone after I recommended that place. I hope this customer starts using someone different in the future, too.
