  1. I've read the entire 10-issue micro-series and the first four volumes (first sixteen issues) of the main series. The Rarity Micro-Series is my favorite by a wide mile. Looks like I'll have to type this in white text as a spoiler, but I really liked the Rarity having a picture of Applejack by her bedside along with Spike and Opalescence. I also liked the cute hippie ponies in general. I also like the Big Macintosh two-parter and his interactions with the amazingly sassy and hammy princes Luna with her Valley Girl T-shirt messages that changed in every panel she was in, and the other two mares who became smitten with him.
  2. Wow, I had no idea that this thread would get so many replies.... I've been off here... and I basically just posted this thread to vent to myself about how bad EquestriaForums is... and I've found out that I am not alone. And it is for the same reasons as people are talking about, about other forums. mods, popular users, and arbitrary pummelling of new people who don't fit into their clique and tow the party line. For example, just a few days ago... someone from South Africa was mentioning South Africa. I asked the person if they knew that Tabitha St. Germain has lived in South Africa... and their reply was. (I also asked her about Shartlo Copley, first, so that is why Tabitha St. Germain is "that second person") And I don't know that second person you cited so I don't really care My reply was: PokePony, you appear to be a totally fluent English speaker...do you watch My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic in English without much need for subtitles for some other language? In a situation where you are hearing the English-language voices? Because if so... well, I've been looking for a proper reaction image to post... something with a "nope" or some sort of gradual zoom in to the face thing of bafflement... but I'll just say it. I am offended that you don't know who Tabitha St. Germain is, especially if you watch this show in English. And that you didn't just quick look her name up before posting your message, if you were able to search it. I am offended. And then the community just got all defensive: ... Or you could just helpfully say that she's Rarity's voice actress and leave the patronising "how don't you know this, you appear to speak English?" attitude at the door. Why would you be offended by it? I honestly can't figure out if you're joking or not but if you are then it's not especially amusing. PokePony ended up replying: 0, the amount of care I give o/ Then I replied: "So, uh why didn't you just look Tabitha St. Germain up? She has lived in South Africa, I find that interesting! So... I wonder what dubs there are for MLPFiM that are like Afrikaans or Dutch... I'm considering looking it up. Are you familiar with the movie District 9?" she replied: "because I dont cate about the subject and cant be bothered about it. also why would I care about afrikaans dub? and yeah I saw that once and didnt like it. I truly wonder why you are talking about all these." ... She somehow could not take the scant few seconds to look up the name Tabitha St. Germain, but was able to post her intitial message. or actually pay attention, then she would know why I was mentioning the possibility of non-English dubs. it is one thing to be totally ignorant of the names of the major voice actors when you are a big enough fan of a super-popular, very devoted fandom cartoon to frequesnt a forum on it. It is another thing entirely to just blow someone off and not even be vaguely curious when someone asks you if they know if someone has lived in their home country before, you don't even have the common decency to look that person's name up or politely ask??? You just say, durr hurr, I don't care? ... I decided to initially not mention who Tabitha St. Germain is, because, she did not care to look the name up herself, and because I wanted her to figure it out or herself. I did not want to spoon-feed that answer. ... so yeah, that may seem like a long-winded rant over not much... but the reaction about how people somehow made me out to be this "patronising" person is just... just so typical of EquestriaForums... and I am not the only person who notices this.
  3. This subject is of course about other forums, not this one. Over the years, or even recently, what has your experience been on being a part of smaller forum communities? ... like, for example, does anyone here have a personal history of running into trouble, or getting frustrated with people, or the opposite happening? How many other forums are you a part of? Again, I am talking about other forums, not this one. I have experience in this. In fact, I may be coming back to this forum after personal experiences elsewhere in the MLPFiM fandom and after finding more and more insight concerning conduct elsewhere. When I say "small forum", I generally mean something that is small enough where you can get a familiarity with several people, and it is possible for people to get to know each other. Massively vast things like 4chan.... and maybe Gaia Online, and also kind of large things like GameFAQs, those are places that I consider to be big, and the mindset can be harder to narrow down.
  4. I thought I posted this yesterday: nut okay, I think I'm planning on exploring this place again. I need a change of scenery in the MLPFiM community. Small forums tend to fester.

They do indeed EQF has 2K members and more importantly a very low join rate. Whereas here there is probably at least 20 new members on a slow day, and 20K existing members. You can get tight knit connections but they aren't you're ONLY connections. When everyone gets tight and a new member joins that's when shit goes down and the bans come out.

  5. I just did that a few minutes ago! Just so happened to see that someone named Gamer Luna posted that they came back to EqF after leaving because "grumpy got banned"I only joined the forums in January of this year, but had recalled seeing alot of posts by someone named Grumpy Enchantress. Now realize that those are only old posts. I suspected that she may have been banned for bullshit reasons, because I am being Watched as of today. (It is for responding to a string of posts talking about ice cream, most all of the posts made by male members, with the post "It sounds like everyone here is on their period.)
  6. ...How long, and how often, pessimistically or otherwise? I'd like to hear personal experience! I'm curious about having a more precise idea of the SpongeBob SquarePants comparisons and how long they've been occuring for. I got into the show at the end of 2011, and by 2012, I was, like many typical Bronies, predicting that this cartoon would only last so long before declining in quality and being run into the ground. And obviously cited SpongeBob. "Go the way of SpongeBob" is practically a catchphrase for this fandom. But I was a fan of the first three seasons, and theatrical Movie, of that cartoon series... and definitely give it the appreciation and laughs it deserves. But does that comparison ever get tiring to hear? Well, we are probably gonna hear more and more of it if the show really does become a Long Runner/get run into the ground. Navigation
  7. This was a really exciting finale. It managed to take this show to a whole nother level, even moreso than the lore that has already been presented throughout the first three seasons and living up to the new lore presented in the beginning of the season 4 premiere. EDIT: like three minutes later. I went back on these forums today, just to comment on this Season 4 finale. It really is especially good.
  8. Not sure about the 10/10 but indeed this is one of the best episodes of S4 after Rarity Takes Manehatten and Pinkie Pride, and is worthy of the Christmas Carol trope.
  9. I finally watched Dallas Buyers Club last night!

Thought that one was dull as heck. Though I liked the acting.

Yeah it kind of was more mild on the dama than I thought it would be. Well, it isn't as serious of subject matter anymore.

Yep I'm replying to your comment a month later. I've basically abandoned this place for EquestriaForums.

  10. The ending became dangerously close to what.. uh, what Tumblr activist people would call shy-shaming, or introvert-shaming, or extrovertonormativity,... but then they had that "baby steps" line at the end. This episode didn't actually really much rub me the wrong way. I feel like one of those Musically Oblivious 8th Graders for not knowing how old Milli Vanilli was. I thought Milli Vanilli is a contemprary crunk rap act like.. uh the guy with the clock, Flavor Flav, or something like Lil' Wayne with the "drank" and "crunk" and "gin and juice" (Yes, I know that is Snoop Dogg, or Lion now) and "Hennessey".
  11. So, today is basically the one year anniversary of me coming to the conclusion that transgender-ness is okay, and not shameful. Well, here's to a year, and the future of my life, where I can hopefully make a difference.

  12. You should know, your only viable defense could be that you are a 13-year-old person from ireland, and may have less of an archive of movie-viewing experience than most other members of this forum. She looks much more like, like, well some aspects of Christina Ricci from the 1995 movie Casper, well. if you iognore than Ricci's lips in thee, are small and light. I am also getting a girl-student from Harry Potter vibe here, a Hogwarts chic vibe. But defnitely not the type of girl that would just be bland like Ginny. Yeah, I'm not a ginny hater, but Bonnie Wright kinda had little emotion and was dull in that role. I do like the name Bonnie tho. Ew, Jokuc, that brohoof seems bad in retrospect, since the whole comment hurts her feelings. Yeah, she is way too young to be compared to Annie Wilkes, and not the same vibe.
  13. The first thing that springs to my mind, because this topic is called, "If there is a heaven, what and who would be in it?" is that transgender people should be/are allowed in.
  14. I'm not sure what to think of Discord's changes, but at least the writers are actually trying to make Princess Celestia's idea of him "using his brand of magic for good" someow plausible. He is crafty, after all. more importantly, he got Twilight to finally use her wings! I have looked carefully, and I haven't seen her open her wings one tiny bit since the Season 4 premiere! Not even in action-y episodes like Castle-mania and Daring Don't.
  15. I thought that's what you were talking about in your previous status update! I was thinking, Mad Cow Disease?
  16. I've got Oscars and Golden Globes fever! Jared Leto and Matthew McConaughey won for Dallas Buyers Club, and I've been really wanting to see that movie! But I'm rooting for 12 Years A Slave to win Best Picture at the Oscars!

  17. I've been looking at renders from official merchandise in which ponies are side-by side , and despite the insistnce that the Mane 6 are all the exact same body base, I've noticed that Pinkie Pie is noticeably shorter than twilight, even before Twilight became an alicorn. I've paused during episodes when at least two characters are lined up and the same distance from the foreground, and I have noticed height differences. Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, and Rarity are generally taller than Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash. I haven't taken a look at Fluttershy yet. It seems like there is a subtly difference. This is called Divergent Character Evolution. A similar comfirmed phenomenon is that the Cutie Mark Crusaders do look a little taller in later more recent episodes, from Season 1 to 3 and beyond. I haven't noticed one being taller than the other, but theere are subtle changes. It really looks to me that Twilie has always been taller than at least some of the others in the Mane 6.
  18. Wow, people, good job making me feel like a creep So I guess this thread had a different response than I thought. Except, uh, FluttershyFan94, and Scootalove. I also really just meant being starstruck by the VAs as well. Yep, I just thought that this would be a fun little starter topic after being absent for five months.
  19. I've seen convention stuff and interviews with Tabitha St. Germain, the voice actress who voices Rarity, Princess Luna, and many other ponies, and Pepper Clark, and Martha of "Martha Speaks"! She's so cute and silly! Well, Ashleigh Ball is also cute, and I, uh, do admire Cathy Weseluck's humor and that "inflection" that is present throughout all her voices. But really, Tabitha is way hotter than Tara or Andrea, but they are all lovely ladies. I'm 22 years old and Tabitha is 37. Yeah.
  20. You know who is really adorable and talented? Tabitha St. Germain.

  21. http://www.hubworld.com/my-little-pony/shows/friendship-is-magic I have a six-year-old niece, and I notice TV spots promoting stuff on Hubworld, so I get into this stuff. Protip:use cardboard, including that from food boxes, to make the cutouts more sturdy. And check to make sure it is being printed out in whatever landscape mode so it will fill up the whole paper and the cutout will be as large as possible. I guess your choice may depend on what sort of accessories and clothes they've got.
  22. Snow still there as of April 11th? Even for a place in Colorado, that snow is hanging around there!
  23. Michelle Creber, the voice actress and singer for Apple Bloom and singer for Sweetie Belle, could seriously be the lead in some Disney princess animated musical movie. I think she should be a mainstream household name like that, even with her being as young as she is.
