  1. 124,995 If you are talking about The Underland Chronicles, no that has not been adapted to film.
  2. 125,985 I'm planning on rereading The Underland Chronicles. I finished Gregor the Overlander yesterday, and I'll be reading Prophecy of Bane next.
  3. Oh, now I see it. On page 1. The map This is the closest I've seen anyone talk about continuity in MLP. Reminds me of the Legend of Zelda maps. It could still just be a nod, tho, for all I know. As for Unicornia, locations with the same name don't indicate that those locations are canonically the same as opposed to rebooted verisons of those settings, unless there's something more suggesting continuity.
  4. Okay, so alicorns/winged unicorn ponies, existed in MLP before FiM. How does that make pre-FiM tied together with FiM? Until proven otherwise, I believe that the universe, story, lore of FiM is it's own separate thing, even with references to older characters from the My Little Pony brand.
  5. The series premiere, "Friendship is Magic". Someone introduced me to it one day, and then I saw the third and fourth ones that same day, as far as I can remember. and then I started watching the rest of the series, out-of-order a few months later. That's a funny way to start.
  6. Other than little nods to older characters, no.
  7. What episode is that? Lesson Zero? Some other episode where the library is a mess?
  8. As for this part I have bolded, no. It is not too late. There should not be such a thing as "too late" too get into a fandom (at least not this fandom, which is centered around a mostly syndication-friendly cartoon). Indeed, we can acknowledge, that getting into a show/ entertainment thing at different stages can have different implications. But this show is not Breaking Bad. But no, you should not feel inferior as a new fan of FiM, as opposed to, like, a card-carrying member of 4chan who was there before the year 2010 ended, or think that you are standing on the shoulders of giants or something. EDIT: several minutes later, I changed "poosed" to "opposed".
  9. FiM and cartoon equines aside, I can't think of any animals in real life besides horses and similar creatures such as zebras that have such defined, butt-shaped butts. Think about it. Cats and dogs don't really have buttcheeks, little rodents don't either. in fact, most mammals do not have rumps or buttocks, just flat areas. I think about the second most-fetishized cartoon animal thing I can think of, which is The Lion King, and I see that their butts aren't as attractive, because, like FiM, they are using realistic anatomy for those animals in that regard. realistic cat butts are squarish hips, not very round and cute. Therefore, my answer is simply this, because, well before the My Little Pony brand came into existence, real-life equines already have beeing having a reputation for having the butts in the animal kingdom that humans find most alluring. Also, because the cutie marks draw attention to them. Actually, I think that the FiM ponies' butt area is one of the few things that accurately resembles real-life equine anatomy. Even before FiM, haven't any of you people wanted to, in real life, like, touch/pat a real-life donkey's rump? They look so cute. I've always found donkeys to be rather cute in real life well before FiM.
  10. Okay, I'm adding Sweet and Elite, Suited for Success, Sisterhooves Social, The Cutie Mark Chronicles, and Hearts and Hooves Day. and Winter Wrap Up As well as the Friendship is Magic two-parter series premiere, and The Ticket Master. And The Return of Harmony. So, all my blatantly rewatchable episodes, in order: Friendship is Magic The Ticket Master Look Before You Sleep Winter Wrap Up Suited For Success The Cutie Mark Chronicles The Best Night Ever The Return of Harmony Sisterhooves Social Sweet and Elite Hearth's Warming Eve bolded episodes are especially rewatchable.
  11. I'll just state the obvious answer: The ones who are still fans/the fans that this franchise will continue to get in the future, will probably have more to talk about because of the larger pool of sheer content from which to draw upon. Depending on how much new content gets made, either it will be doing what the Star Trek and Dragonball Z fandoms fanbases are doing, which is basically talk about old stuff and whatever tiny amount of contemporary new content gets made. Or, more likely, if there continues to be new content, then a combination of talking about old content and new, what-will-then-be-current content, such as with Sonic the Hedgehog and Pokémon. Here's a way of thinking of it. Let's name some fandoms, and what they were like in 2004. DragonBall Z: Pretty much identical, except maybe a bit larger because of more people on the Internet in general, and because more kids who were too young for DBZ have aged into it. Star Trek: basically identical J. J. Abrams movies prolly made like no impact execpt on mainstream moviegoing audience non-fans. And I guess they have more sci-fi bragging rights now that tablet computers and whatnot do exist among the masses in real life now. Sonic the Hedgehog: larger because more people on Internet, and because more games and media have been created. Pokémon: things have gone a long way since the offline schoolyard. This is a franchise, where, if the Internet were to disappear tomorrow, would simultaneously destroy the very notion of what Pokémon is, while at the same time, it would survive like a cockroach at the end of nuclear armageddon. Smogon, Bulbapedia, Corocoro scans EVs, whatever other Vs there are, shinies, Let's Play, YouTube, very specific subgenres of Pokémon fancomics, Twitch.tv. My Little Pony, as well as the FiMverse and whoever calls themselves a Brony, will be in a situation somewhere in between DBZ and Pokeymon. Maybe.
  12. Post some episodes that you feel you can watch additional times without getting bored. Preferably, among the people here that have seen many certain episodes several times, post the ones that were most enjoyable on their continuous rewatches. For me, The Best Night Ever. It is also possibly my favorite episode. Other ones include "Look Before You Sleep", "The Ticket Master" "Hearts and Hooves Day", and maybe "Hearth's Warming Eve". My frame of mind from which to state this opinion may have something to do with being forced to watch DVD episodes of MLPFiM with my nieces and nephews. I tend to pay less attention, for example, when "It's About Time" or "MMMystery on the Friendship Express" starts playing, and more attention to the episodes I mentioned before. So, maybe you can list some episodes that you've been finding yourself rewatching over time -and still enjoying- even after multiple viewings (maybe to the degree in which others might feel "ad nauseum"). (This type of topic could also be quite more fun for more long-running comedy/cartoon shows that are in syndication a lot.)
  13. People would probably just think of "universally" as a word for "very", instead of thinking it as closest percentage to pure approval, unamimous adoration from those who have seen it. So nope. The original Star Wars or The Wizard of Oz are examples of the most "adored" movies of all time, but there are definitely people who dislike those movies. An example of a movie that is the "least hated/least criticized" that a sizable world population has actually seen, could be something like the original Toy Story. Much smaller fanbase, but a much smaller amount of people who have seen it and thought "this was not worth my time". So, basically, I guess I am asking about the "safest" episodes. Maybe that is what I am looking for? Then again, if this show was nothing but "safe" episodes set in Ponyville such as Green Isn't Your Color, The Ticket Master, Applebuck Season, and Owl's Well That End's Well, then this show would not be as profitable with either the "little girl" demographic or Brony demographic. I'm okay with some world-building episodes and stuff. I've bolded some episodes and added some criticism I've heard of. But I don't really feel dislike for any of those episodes myself. Altho I would be okay with missing out on additional viewings of "Just for Sidekicks", "Lesson Zero", and "Party of One", since I (and a lot of us) have rewatched those episodes plenty of times. This reminds me, I should investigate the most "rewatchable" episodes. I tried to list only the more obvious criticisms, not ones that you have to dig really deep to find people with those sentiments. ... hmmm, so maybe I should not include Sleepless in Ponyville... since Ghostfacekiller39's opinion is an example of a more hardcore fan digging deep.
  14. I can say for certain that Breaking Bad, and some episodes of The Simpsons, are brilliant. The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, while having a typical common formula for most of the episodes, is very underrated, especially considering that it initially looks like a cheap cartoon, made with 3-dimensionally rendered CGI instead of more expressive animation. But it was severely underrated, and actually has aged much better than the Fairly OddParents.
  15. When I say "Le Gasp" and then talk about how I am saying it in a vaguely robotic voice that is a bad imitation of someone else, I refer to the episode "Imitation Krabs" in which Plankton hides inside an obvious robotic suit modeled after Mr. Krabs in an attempt to impersonate him and sabotage him. That, and Le Gasp at you not having Band Geeks like, near the top of your list. Instead, you left it blank, because apparently the episode is too difficult for you to give a score or something.
  16. Topic Creator did not gush in fawning adoration of "Band Geeks". Le gasp (says it in a robotic-like voice that is a total non-imitation of someone I am trying to impersonate). Well, that is something unique. (I still like the episode a lot yself, I reckon) Also... you are seriously gonna do this all the way to the end? That is just plain disturbed.
  17. .. While I normally like listing off my favorite things... this list is actually gonna be kinda small for me personally. This could maybe be attributed to the fact that hardly any one fictional character really connects with me, usually it is the combinations of characters within certain settings. That being said, here goes: Ripred, The Underland Chronicles Rarity, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Luxa, The Underland Chronicles Gregor, The Underland Chronicles Boots, The Underland Chronicles Spike, My LIttle Pony: Friendship is Magic Captain Holly Short, Artemis Fowl series Applejack, Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle. ... and then, uh...I'll probably just hafta go with like, Buzz Lightyear and Woody and Toy Story characters. I know a ton of people here will be like, "too many to count". I hardly care about... like, Harry Potter characters, or Hunger Games characters. They just sort of exist and are pawns in a larger story. the characters from both those series I just mentioned. oh yeah... maybe I like the major characters in my actual favorite movie of all-time, the movie called AKIRA. I like Kei, and Yamagata, and Kai, and even the Colonel. I also just realized, I forgot to mention how excellently written most of the characters are in that one manga-about-the-manga-industry called Bakuman. I adored that manga, despite the fact that it is one of the only manga I've ever read and that I generally dislike manga and generally don't read manga. Kaya Miyoshi is one of the best-written female characters I've ever known. I also like the two main characters, Moritaka "Saiko" Mashiro and Akito "Shujin" Takagi.
  18. Rarity is literally my second favorite fictional character of anything. To give you some perspective, my favorite fictional character is Ripred, a deadly, sarcastic antihero talking larger-than-a-human-sized rat character from the cult-hit "children's" book series The Underland Chronicles. and then the rest of my favorites include characters from that series... and then maybe like two or three MLPFiM characters, and basically no other cartoon characters anywhere near the top-ten-ish range. Rarity is best pony. Rarity is best female character. So take that, Hermione and Katniss. And whatever characters Joss Whedon creates.
  19. ... I do admit it that I was kind of pushing this topic by saying that Sleepless in Ponyville did not have it's critics. I think that it is a positive sign that, for some fans, the more they watch this show, the more critical of episodes they become after rewatching them. But generally speaking, this show takes more story risks than a lot of other cartoons intended for the age-appropriateness group. A show that usually has some moral in every episode is bound to have episodes that can be, as you say "torn to shreds". so, Ghostfacekiller39, I've seen you around before! Are there any episodes, that you can't find any story bullcrap/other sorts of bullcrap in? "Hurricane Fluttershy" and "The Best Night Ever" are, from what I can tell, as untouchably perfect moments in this series as "Band Geeks" is to SpongeBob SquarePants.
  20. Gravity Falls whistly theme music. I am house-sitting and dog-sitting for my adult sister while her family is away on vacation, and they have digital cable and a DVR that was only halfway filled up. I usually don't follow cartoons other than MLPFiM and LPS, via hubnetwork.com. but.. since I reckon that I "song" has actual singing in it, as in, lyrics... uh... the "Make A Wish It's Your Birthday" song from "Pinkie Pride" not one of our show's better songs, but it is indeed been in my head as of last night.
  21. I think that people don't understand the point of this thread. I am looking for episodes that are utterly devoid of dislike, not episodes that "most of the fandom really liked" Generally, every single episode with a "crazy pony", while generally popular, still has a sizable amount of critics. Lesson Zero and Party of One are known for people who, after a while, come to the conclusion that the ponies were not only being stupid/irrational/insensitive, or needlessly withholding open communication with other ponies, but that the miscommunication was not even excuseable. Any decent episode of a cartoon or sitcom with a misunderstanding plot at least tries to justifiy the circumstances of how the miscommunication can continue. Episodes such as LZ, POO, and Luna Eclipsed are just a step above superior to Games Ponies Play in that regard. Yes, people adored Luna as a character in LE, and generally regard it as Tabitha St. Germain's best work in her known career, but that doesn't change the fact that it doesn't make any sense that the ponies are still afraid of Princess Luna, when the whole world should know that she was changed back to good quite a while ago. Then I guess this fandom is not a fandom. What kind of fandom-as-a-whole hates a main character? That would be like the Hunger Games fandom mostly hating Gale Hawthorne or Peeta Mellark. Rarity is one of my favorite fictional characters, period.
  22. Let's try and think of some episodes that have the smallest negative reputation, ones that are the closest to being unanimously loved: Here are the ones that I came up with: The Best Night Ever Hurricane Fluttershy Sleepless in Ponyville Pinkie Pride For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils Those episodes have hardly any critics. There are also some very popular episodes among the fans, such as A Dog and Pony Show, Party of One, Lesson Zero, and Luna Eclipsed, which are basically popular for having crazy or dramatic ponies, but still get neagative criticism for having certain characters being either insensitive, mentally unstable, or incompetent. It seems that the most untouchable episodes are the ones with relationship issues and dealing with insecurity/ disappointment in oneself. If it weren't for Twilight being strangely bossed around by Pinkie Pie to keep the secret and maintain the unhealthy misunderstanding between Fluttershy and Rarity... then Green Isn't Your Color could be that kind of emotionally resonant episode as well. Okay, you people go talk now!
