  1. Just taught myself "i did it my way" on the harmonica. I forgot how fun it is to play that thing, it's been ages. I don't know if my dog likes it, he's been howling along! :P

  2. Working on a crappy codebase. You just end up piling more trash on top of the mountainous garbage heap and hope it doesn't all come tumbling down on top of you. I have a few projects like this. I have covered a few of them in astroturf and spruced them up a bit, but others are like mount Everest, composed of years of bad practices from numerous authors.
  3. I've heard about blue light supposedly having an effect on your sleepfulness, but I can't say I fully believe it. Personally, I can fall asleep pretty much on a dime, so I don't think I've ever really experienced this issue. At work though, I use f.lux to tint my screen a bit. I start programming at 7:00 AM, which can be a bit rough at times. It's circumstantial evidence, but I noticed that I've been having a little less red eye since I've started using it. Well, it's either that or my annoying "you should take an eye break" python script that fires every 45 minutes. My ebook reader also has a red light, but that's something that's baked into the device and not something I put there.
  4. Upstairs in my study, just derping around the web.
  5. Guilty as charged; I used to do that even pre-cellphone and either read in there or play my gameboy. The benefit of the phone though is that I can also use it to time myself to ensure I'm not spending all day in there philosophizing.
  6. Thursday is the absolute best day of the week! The best part of it is savouring how every second of it isn't that dreadful Friday.
  7. Tonight was fun! I got the N64 emulator running on my Wii U and played Banjo Kazooie for the past few hours. I haven't played it since I rented it from blockbuster back in 2000. So many memories pre-youtube of not having an idea of what to do...

sounds like a nice time, you must've had lots of fun. Good, l am happy to see you smile, my friend!

  8. Not much of a story to tell, but I saw one of them in the middle of a roundabout. Nobody was paying him any attention, presumably because everyone (well, besides him) had somewhere important to be or something important to be doing. Awful spot to be doing that, really.
  9. I liked how aggressive some of your comments are. I can't say I can approve of your sudden use of gotos at program.cs:476, but I'll give it a pass because it looks like you may have been edging on insanity in a few spots there. I didn't know about moonsharp before, but it looks like a pretty useful tool. If I need something dynamic in C# like you did, I typically pull in Roslyn to compile dynamically generated C#Script. I'm not sure if there may or may not be any memory leaks there, I know I have to be careful when I do that stuff with Roslyn. Overall though, nice work! Looks like a pain of a project. I've never been a fan of parsing text.
  10. I have no idea why my favourite radio station insists on playing the creepiest instrumental version of Carol of the Bells. The opening sounds so unbelievably ominous when you're the only one awake late at night.

No doubt, l would like to hear that version at least once, if possible, would you send/link it to me? (no coincidence that there was a hearths warming episode that had :orly: in it)

Unfortunately I couldn't find it on youtube. All the ones I found were way too good, even when I searched for "midi" in the title. I bet you anything they bought the midi a long time ago and just keep it in circulation for the late show.

Here's a far nicer arrangement I found while searching for it.

OMG, I found it! And it's by the barenaked ladies; I should have guessed it was the CRTC to blame. They're a regulatory body for Canadian broadcasting and they love pushing Canadian content down everyone's throats.

  11. Yes! There was this snack I bought from Costco a while back that was pretty much this. Hollow pretzel shells with a peanut butter center. They were amazing. But I guess if I had to pick one... Peanuts slightly edge out packaged pretzels for me. But if it's one of those giant pretzels street vendors sometimes sell, there's no contest.
  12. I doubt I can overemphesize how much I dislike Pharrell William's song "Happy." I never understood what people saw in it; I don't think it's catchy or even a happy song. It's practically monotone. Fortunately, time was my friend on this one and people seem to have largely gotten over it.
  13. I took a train ride last week to Toronto and took the subway while I was there. I like taking the train compared to driving on the highway; it's much less stressful. Plus once you get there, you don't have to worry about figuring out where you're going to park (and probably fork over $20.) You just take the subway to wherever you want to go. The last bus trip... I can't remember. I'm not a huge fan of buses.
  14. The games which make me feel the most nostalgic are Super Mario World, Paper Mario 64, Pokemon RBY/GSC and Digimon World 1/3. These are all games I grew up with and thoroughly enjoyed. edit: OH! And Toy Story for the SNES. Somehow I managed to complete it as a kid. Considering its difficulty and rough controls, I have no idea how. Probably lots of continues and lots of persistence.
  15. High school: attending the ceremony and thinking "thank goodness that's over with." College: It was incredibly weird. My last day was a presentation day where we showed off a project we spent 8 months developing. After the professors announced the best projects, it just sort of... ended. We unceremoniously took down the display, said our goodbyes to one another and didn't meet again until 2 months later at the graduation ceremony.
  16. I wanted to attend a midnight launch when I was younger, but I never did because of transportation issues. And today, I just can't be bothered; I'll just buy the thing online and have it mailed to me. If it's in short supply even online and I care enough, maybe I'll write a small program to send me an email when the "buy" button becomes clickable.
  17. Haha, guilty. But I can imagine blue is a popular colour for Pegasus characters because of the natural traits that we associate with the colour. It also seems to be really easy to find a good shade of blue where I find it tricky to find just the right shade of red, yellow or green to use.
  18. The subtle art of not giving a f*** by Mark Manson. It's a slightly different take on the typical self-help sort of book. I'm enjoying it so far and some of it's ideas are actually applicable for me.
  19. Holy smokes, $1000 already! That's awesome, we're outpacing Jeric! I'll contribute more as the month goes on. Every little bit counts; a bit can be the small difference between a functional program and a buffer overflow.
  20. @Phosphor Again, you've forced me to retaliate! *return boop* And while I'm at it... @WWolf @Crimson storm @TwilySparky @Alco fa @Fluttershutter @Woona :3 @Silent @Lunar Echo @Jonny Music @Johnny1226 @flueryheartlove @Califorum You don't escape this either.
  21. Right now, the holiday season. There's some local events happening next weekend that I'm really looking forward to. I'm also looking forward to a great night to do some astronomy. I have a new eyepiece and filter I want to test out. Last time I tried, the moon was being a gigantic pain.
  22. I'm not the biggest Trekkie in the world, but I'm more of a fan of TNG. What's your favourite form of transportation?
  23. Ok, typing with hooves on its own would be a problem, but come on! *wildly swings their ghostly hooves ineffectually through the keyboard*
  24. Granted! But today is the last day of the break. Tomorrow, it's back to the normal schedule. I wish I could summon objects at will.
