Interesting viewpoint. I'll be honest and say that I was against the whole Twilicorn dillemma from it's announcement, but you have quite sound reasoning. However, I was against this not for the sake of being against it, but the future it brings. I've said it countless times and I'll say it again: if Twilight were to remain an alicorn for the whole of season 3, then the entire show would begin to fall apart. Why, you may ask? Because of the position, the title, that she now holds. People may say 'oh, she'll stay in Ponyville with her friends and everything will be fine', but I have to disagree with that for the very same reason I agree with this post. To transform Twilight into an alicorn and continue the show is pretty self defeating. Seriously, if you get transformed into royalty and your position amongst others remains perfectly the same, what is the point of the transformation in the first place?
Overall, I would have agreed with Studio B on this one had the show ended there. Instead, we get a whole season of Twilight doing... what? Overseeing the operations of Ponyville and thus ursurping the position of Mayor Mare? Staying in Canterlot? Staying in her library doing nothing? The first two options would leave little time for her friends and would go against the entire moral of the show, and I've already covered the last one.
I really think that if they were going to transform Twilight, they should have done it at the series finale. Now, all I can see in the future of the show is a giant pool of awkward. I guess I can say that I'm looking forward to how they handle the situation.
