Heh... well, let me first say this - I rarely ever drink.

I'm at an odd, mixed standing regarding my opinions about alcohol.  You see, my dad likes to drink all the time - don't get me wrong, he is not an alcoholic, but he drinks very often.  And so, I get real darn tired of his loopy-ness and random moodiness, not to mention the fact that he likes to argue about anything, which can turn into a hot situation sometimes... My mom, on the other hand, doesn't drink barely at all.  She might drink, like, one time per year, likely that one time would be at some kind of party with her close friends, for example, New Years or something.

I've seen the bad effects it has on people.  The utterly stupid and sometimes fatal decisions people have made... etc...

However, I'm not totally against it.  And again, I rarely ever drink.  But, sometimes, I do.  The main reason that would ever make me drink is stress.  I have the personality type where I just bottle everything up without a pressure relief valve, and if it builds up enough, I might end up just blowing up randomly, and storming off.  Sooo... Sometimes I just say "that's enough" and I take a few shots of liquor to get my mind off things, or maybe have a few Mike's Hard Lemonades.  I hate beer, the smell of it makes me nauseous, and the one time I tried it I puked - so, never again.

Furthermore, I despise [the typical] "parties" - the kind that first pops into one's mind upon hearing someone talking about the subject of alcohol and "parties."  Why?  Well, firstly, I'm an introvert.  Secondly, parties aren't fun for me because I'd rather just be chill and sit at my computer or watch tv.  Too much craziness occurs at parties and it makes me very nervous.  So, when I do drink, I prefer one of two situations: One - To be alone in my room, sitting at my computer, doing basically what I always do - listening to music/browsing youtube/being here on MLPForums/etc., and getting a buzz to take my mind off all the stress.  Two: To be only with one other person, who must be a very close friend of mine, and either watching tv, or playing video games.

Well, I don't really like alcohol, but I can take very, very, very girly drinks....like 5% alcohol and such....its kinda sad. I want to try it...but...eh.. it's not really for me.

Now if someone would make something that masks the taste completely then....perhaps.

Ive had a couple drinks my parents would give me every once and a while. From every impression ive had of alcohol so far is that it tastes horrible and the only reason to drink it is if I actually WANTED to get drunk. I even got a small bottle of pink wine for my sixteenth, I managed to drink it but only over a long period of sipping, I don't think I will ever like alcohol.

  • 1 month later...

I usually go for some alcohol when at parties, celebrations etc, etc. On a normal day, though, if I have to have something with alcohol in it, it would be some applecider.

I sometimes drink and it helps me feel better most of the time. I don't drink to get drunk, I simply drink until I feel better and my mind's mostly clear, I don't need drinks to go "lunatic" after all heh!

But yeah I can't really say I've ever been drunk, I've been trying to get drunk once to see how it feels like but it didn't really affect me that much. Besides I think it's funny seeing your friends overdo it and do crazy stuff at times. xD I tend to join in on the fun but I guess that's just how I am, I'm too "lunatic" for this world. xD

Drinking is not good but as long as you can control your drinking habits there's nothing wrong with it.

PS: I can't stand mixing alcohol, it just tastes disgusting Dx

I got pretty drunk a couple times, wasn't really bad afterwords. No hang over. I drink sometimes, not a lot. Just enough to get buzzed/tipsy. I just want to feel the effects. Don't really like beer, tastes like crap. I prefer mixed drinks. After I've had a couple mixed drinks I can start downing shots.

I'm drinking my third beer ever as I type this (just hit the legal age today) and so far I'm really diggin' it

If beer tasted like Coca Cola I would be really digging it.

In my opinion, someone who doesn't drink alcohol at all isn't better than someone who does so moderately and responsibly.

If you don't like alcohol, that's fine. Just don't condemn those who do.

I like the taste of it, but I don't like the thought of having ethanol flowing around in my head and body, constantly risking damages. I never get drunk, but I may take some sips now and then.

What frustrates me is seeing all these teens getting dangerously drunk like every weekend, as there is no legal and safer alternative to alcohol. I wish I knew why the government would sacrifice young lives like this...all about the money I guess.

water.

what bothers me is the 'cool' parents who think they're teaching kids to drink responsibly by letting them drink underage.  teaching them to break the law is not teaching responsibility.

People wanna have fun...especially teens. So I dunno, water wouldn't really work in that manner.

I don't know about any parents who let their kids drink, but they do it anyways.

I have a drink every now and then. If I'm at a friends house and they just bought some beers that supposedly are great, I'll try them.

I have been drunk before and I hated it. The hangover was even worse.

I don't hate alcoholic beverages, nor do I hate those who enjoy drinking them.

However, I made a life choice a long time ago that I would never drink anything alcoholic. I prefer to have my wits about me, and there are other things I'd rather get addicted to. Games, movies, cartoons, stuff from Japan. Even junk food would do.

At most, I'd be willing to taste, but never actually drink anything alcoholic. Although, if it's sake, I might be tempted to change my mind...

I tried it, but haven't had good experiences with them. They make me feel dizzy and sick. It frustrates me that drinking alcohol plays such a huge part in my college culture and I don't fit in because I don't drink.

Excited to meet awesome people here!

I don't like drinking. I don't like the way it makes me feel. Some things taste okay (although I really don't like the burn) but I don't like the taste of beer or liquor straight up. I like mixed drinks where you can barely taste the alcohol. I was once very disappointed to have ordered a rum & Coke which was more like "Would you like a touch of Coke with your giant glass of rum?"

But again, I don't like the way it makes me feel. It makes my legs feel weird, for one. But more than that, I don't like the feeling of the loss of control. It's very stressful and unnerving for me.

I actually had a period, recently, where for the first time in my life, I actually -wanted- to drink. I was so stressed out at the job I was at, I really, really wanted to drink. Most of the time I didn't because I didn't want to add to my stress by being hung over at work, but when the weekend came around, I began drinking in increasing amounts. Since I quit, I haven't had the urge to drink, once. I'm a little concerned, cuz I know that that's a unhealthy mentality to have, but it's over, now. Hopefully I don't get into a state like that ever again.

Yea, I'll have a few beers every now and again, sometimes a lot more than a few on the weekends.
