When I look at humanized depictions of Fluttershy, they typically are wearing a yellow sweater, and a green skirt with . . . . her pretty pink hair flowing in the breeze . . . . her skin looking as soft as a bab- AAAAH Anyway! Like this basically.

 

 

*clears throat* Well there's another depiction of her I sometimes see. She's wearing a hijab, usually pink to match her mane.

 

 

Going to love you? Oh I'm definately going to lov- lo lo la la la la annnnnyway! Is their a particular reason for this style? Was it just a cool concept or does something about the character or her views reflect something about the religion? Just curious.

When i first saw this topic i thought "What the buck?"

 

Then i saw the picture and now i think its actually really well suited. I think that its because they're quiet? maybe its because they really like animals and creation and its easiest to draw her in that style differently then others? IDK.

I wasn't exactly sure what would get my point across properly without mention the name of the faith. "Alternate Fluttershy interpretation" sounds too broad and "Why is human Fluttershy a Muslim" sounds a bit aggravated.

That's not a burqa in the picture - just a hijab (headscarf) with a long skirt and a long-sleeved blouse. A burqa completely covers the face, and it's a head-to-toe garment. Here's a pic:

I can appreciate any human version of the ponies, so long as they are portrayed in a tasteful manner.

 

By that I mean that like if someone's portraying somepony as a certain race it isn't racist, or if somepony is portrayed as a certain weight it's not in an offensive manner., etc., etc.

I would contest that diversity for diversity's sake is a bad thing. You include people because of their personal qualities, not based on aesthetics. That said, I totally agree with you on the adorable thing. Again, it's Fluttershy, you have to put effort into making her not adorable. Which reminds me!

Humanizations tend to be hit or miss for me. Some just seem a little TOO human to actually bare any semblance to the characters. They have to be just a little cartoony, helps retain the "cute" factor.
