Today I was pretty pissed. It was more of a death/deathcore day, you know? Nothing like absolutely letting loose and raging real hard to some heavy stuff.

Ah yeah, I'm feeling pretty shit as well. One of those many days, I guess. Oh well, here's some more deathcore to get by. Haven't listened to much deathcore lately at all.

Black Tusk are a sludge metal band that play what they call "swamp metal" since it's so murky and dirty sounding.

Just by listening you can kind of see how it's almost swampy.

 

Watch as I slowly drift deeper and deeper back into Periphery worship...

First off yes, it is the same vocalist. Periphery has gone through it's fair share of vocalists, but they finally decided upon Spencer Sotello for their debut album whom they've kept. However, he was an electronic/pop producer (which is why he's got such a tenor voice) and didn't know how to growl, so they were pretty weak on their original since he was still learning. Still, I like them for not being the incomprehensible death growls that most bands do.

 

And I'm not sure if you'd like their debut. It's alot different than their second one, because it's got much different vocals/lyrics, song structure,  different style. Also, (dare I say it) Periphery II was alot more pop and electronically influenced than their debut.

 

Judge for yourself is the best I can tell you. The entire thing's on Youtube.

Well I liked Periphery I better than II, but maybe that's just me 

I'm on the fence. Periphery I had better guitar parts (and was more djenty) and lyrics, and I personally liked the raspy vocals. Fit the music if you ask me. However, Periphery II has some amazing drumwork and vocals (he hits an insanely high F in Ragnarok) but with worse lyrics and guitar. In both, the bass is virtually nonexistent. Take you pick, I suppose.

 

Damn it feels good to be a fanboy. Oh wait, no it doesn't.

I wont expect those reviews to come by soon, and it's cool that you wanna review Unsilent Death, it's my 2nd favorite Grindcore album (Prowler In The Yard will always be my #1 Grindcore album). Also I skimmed through the review since I'm not a fan of Helloween, though I was curious as towards why you'd pick out them to review, since I wasn't expecting that you'd actually listen to them.

 

 

Also I have my review blog up now as from unpopular request I'm doing Moog's Music Review Station 2.0
