As far as blackgaze goes, they're among the best. Sometimes their mixes can get a little muddy, but the songs are serene regardless. My favorite release from them is their re-recording of "Le Secret."

I played over Scarlet by Periphery. I have no video camera, so I apologize for not having a video. I fucked up alot and I got flat as the song went on, but I'm impressed with myself. I've been playing this thing nonstop since I woke up.

EDIT: Should clarify. I got my new guitar in the mail today. It's an Ibanez RG7321. Same as Djenty! (that wasn't planned, by the way).

I'm pretty sure we've all heard this by now, but Black sabbath is coming back. First song off their album was released last week. Might as well put it up here in case you haven't heard it.

 

 

Even though Scarlet is one of my least favorite Periphery tracks, I figured that I might as well check it out.

One of my least favorite too, it's just easier than most of them. And it's fun to play, unlike some songs. You can really get into a groove and jam with that one.

I have a couple problems with this site. For one thing, a lot of people seem to go on albums and rate them the lowest possible score just to be an asshole, and they don't even give a reasonable review, they just say stuff like "this is garbage and it sucks and it's gay." One other thing is the fact that I would think people would rate things differently than others. Not everyone has the same rating scale, so to speak. And then there are people who just rate everything they like 5 stars and everything they don't like 1 star.

I try but I'm rather bipolar when I'm rating albums. I either like it a lot or just completely hate it. Every once in a while I do encounter an album that I like, just not a lot. It just the way I am :/

I'd approach it as such: rate every track individually and then find the average of all those values. That's how I do it a lot of the time.

Oh, also, another thing is that I find that it is really hard to accurately rate each and every album and have the ratings match exactly how I feel about all the albums. Like, I will change my mind, or I won't be able to decide what should be worth 4 stars, or what should be worth 4.5 stars, etc.

 

Also, completely on the other side of the spectrum, I've gotten stuck listening to Coheed's Afterman: Ascension & Descension, which are just mind-jizzling phenomenal.  Holy hell; they are definitely our generation's greatest prog band.  In my opinion, it's their best work yet.

 

 

I bought both those albums this past week, and they're pretty good! I really like the song "Key Entity Extraction I: Domino the Destitute". I think I like Ascension better than Descension, but that's just me. I'm definitely gonna listen to more Coheed and Cambria in the future.

Awesome, glad to hear it!  I actually prefer Descension over Ascension, with "Number City" being my favorite on D, and "Goodnight, Fair Lady" being my favorite on A.
