Waaaay too much After the Burial lately. Berzerker's got one of the sickest breakdowns I've ever heard.

<3

Metalcore stuff

I think Forevermore is a place to start. They're a bit heavier than some of the metalcore you listen to, but nothing TOO serious.

And they're unsigned and appreciate whatever they can get.

R.I.P. Jeff Hanneman, you will be missed.

Metal on, you wonderful bastard. I'm sure that mother fucker'll be spending many seasons in the abyss.

*sheds a single tear*

I'm also going to listen to that Get Rad album that Crispy likes or whatever

Get stoked on it ;)

They're not the best Metalcore band I've listened to, though I don't hate them. Ascendancy is the only album of theirs that I've listened to, and in my opinion it's an alright album.

I like Ascendancy a lot, I think it's a great album. These are my two favorite songs from it:

I wanna get their Ember to Inferno album also, it seems pretty good too.

Holy crap I can't believe I forgot about these guys, saw them being discussed in some Metalcore discussion on a different site not too long ago. Definitely worth checking out.

I can't really agree with you on Like Light To The Flies, one of my least favorites from that album, but it's not the worst song that I've heard, though Pull Harder On The Strings was one of the songs that made the album worth listening to.

What da heck are you talking about, that song easily has the best chorus on the whole album.

Also, I really like Rain, Suffocating Sight, and Departure.

Eh, if you ask me it was decent enough to make me sit through it a couple of times. Rain and Suffocating Sight easily are the two songs that have the best lyrics out of the whole album.

A good song about heroin abuse. Dystopia are god-tier sludge/crust.

You used to do that shit for fun
A steady march of slow death
With no intention of turning back
Feel the pleasure, you taste the pain
Getting high just to get sick again

Eh? Nandatte?

Fuck man, I can't believe Jeff Hanneman is dead. What kind of fucked up world is THIS? I named my username after my favorite Slayer song. This is going to take time to digest, I actually feel like crying...

So Hanneman is dead... huh. A bit shocking; more disappointed that it was due to liver failure than the severity of the spider bite. In all cases, he'll be missed by many.

Here have a song from the band in which I bought my first album with my own money from

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqJOb8AR7Ew

Unfortunately the fem's vox in this upload seems to be different from the actual album version, and sound really intonal at times. EITHER THAN THAT, these guys are some really interesting MeloDeathIndustrial somethingorother.

Let's get some Black Metal in here. First off I'd like to say that I listened to almost all of Aesthethica, and...damn it wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be. Returner was a cool song, though most of the other songs weren't that great. Though I can't agree that it was terrible, I can't really agree to liking the album. I'd say that I'm neutral on them. But anyways all that crap aside have some Burzum.

Where is Varg when you need him?

I hope that whatever god that they worship will punish them so hard. I swear, this is just laughing at someone's death, and should be a sin no matter who it is.

But anyways leaving an Alcest song here before I go to bed.

So I don't even know if this song is metal, it seems more like rock to me, but damn this song is really damn good. This whole album is pretty good actually.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRoN4_kG6XM

It sounds fairly metal to me, well at least at certain parts in it, though that might be just because it's heavier prog. It's definitely at least Hard Rock, and definitely not just rock.

I guess I've missed those posts, oh well, whatever. Cool that you've heard some songs by As I Lay Dying and Killswitch Engage.

Anyways leaving this Converge song, since I mentioned it before, it's been stuck in my head.

Wait, is that supposed to be metalcore? It sounds nothing like what I know to be metalcore, I like this a lot better. Is most of their stuff like this?

Leaving this Norma Jean song here

And also Dillinger Escape Plan, because why the hell not?

They can count as both Rock and Metal. I guess it all depends on which song it is.

Well we were referring to a specific song. They are listed primarily as prog, which has about as much in common with classic rock as metal does.

Yes, Converge are Metalcore, they were one of the first bands to bring up Metalcore. Coral Blue is probably their lightest track that they have. Most of their stuff leans more to their Extreme influences, hence why Converge sound different then "mainstream" Metalcore bands. Coral Blue was a song from their album they released last year. That one has more clean vocals than their previous releases.

Mmm.  Coheed.  I know I have a severe hard-on for this band, but I think it's warranted.

Here's a live version of their cover of Iron Maiden's The Trooper from their Neverender tour a couple years back.  Shits hella dope.

It clicked for me once I got over Hunter Hunt-Hendrix's pretense. For me it's just blackened math metal, which is something that needed to happen. The entire band is so together in everything they do, and plus, there's no reverb.

I don't give a shit about how much of a pretentious douchebag Hunter is and neither do I think that Aesthethica was a terrible album, I just don't think it's that good, I'll admit that songs like Returner and Sun of Light I was able to withstand, though the whole album was nothing that impressed me. What ticks me off more than Hunter's pretentiousness is their fanbase (not meaning to be offensive to you) filled with people who worship them like they're the fucking gods of Metal, and also almost every single fan of Liturgy thinks that people hate them because they aren't trve kvlt metal, no we don't hate them because they don't wear corpse paint, we hate them because we think that they're a bad band. Sorry if you took this offensively, because if you did then it was unintentional.

Anyways enough Liturgy bashing, let's get some discussion on something else.

The newest track from one of my other favorite bands in the USBM scene came out recently: Deafheaven's "Dream House." Honestly, as much as I worship "Roads to Judah," this isn't doing as much for me. I understand they wanted to be uplifting and whatnot, but this comes closer to blackened pop punk for me. I'll have to listen to all of "Sunbather" before I really judge this song on its own completely.
