I finally give Device a shot and I absolutely love it just from the first song. Draimon got even more melodic in his vocals. Definitely gonna keep listening. Can't wait for Disturbed to get off Hiatus, if ever, but I think I could be satisfied with Device in the meantime, especially if they keep up the trend that Disturbed did and just got better with each album.

Wat.

In my opinion, Device is pretty boring compared to Disturbed. The only songs I like are Haze and Penance. Out of Line and Opinion aren't too bad either. I just want Disturbed back, Device isn't good enough for me.

One of the main reasons I listened to Disturbed was Draimon and he's the reason I'm even paying attention to Device probably. I get more Draimon, this makes me happy, and he's just as good as he's always been and just continues to get better. I like the even heavier sound that they have compared to Disturbed as well.

Besides, Device only has one album out. If they keep to the trend they'll only get better. I believe in Draimon, he is a musical god. He won't let Device stray down the wrong path.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm it's definitely not a heavier sound...

If anything, it's lighter than Disturbed. The only reason I even like it at all is because I'm a fan of Disturbed.

Definitely sounds heavier to me. Maybe it's the added effects in the backround besides the typical guitar and drums setup that adds to it but there definitely feels like there's more volume to the music, like there's another layer to it.

Holy wow, loving the song Close My Eyes Forever. Guest artist I've never heard of ftw. :P

So yeah, so far I'm liking Device. Definitely gonna have to pick this album up. Draimon, you impress me once again in your musical choices.

BOOOOORRIIISSS

Anyways, I've been in a Hardcore EDM mood lately, so I haven't listened to much metal besides some standard Sludge material

Been listening mostly to Dillinger Escape Plan and Pomegranate Tiger lately, though I found some cool bands that you might like too.

First off is Myrath, reminds me of the Middle-East. I really like the vocals, it's so refreshing to hear something done differently.

Next up is Vildhjarta, Swedish metal band which make progressive, groovy music.

Final one is called Intervals,  it's instrumental progressive metal. This album should be listened to from beginning to end in one go, there's just no other way to listen to it. Also, it's different to what I usually listen to.

TUNISIAN METAL. That was pretty interesting, nice to see a mixed-grip drummer in metal. And yeah, vocals are a nice change, honestly I've been getting tired of cleans lately, so its nice. WILL CHECK OUT HARD.

I really like the drums on this.  Nice and clicky on the bass drum.  Not as cut and paste chug as Volumes either.

What a lovely band name. Here's a drone/ambient band I found the other day, I can't find the whole song though, just a sample. But I downloaded the whole thing.

More repetitive posting because I love this song. It always makes me think of Castlevania. It fits perfectly with the Lords of Shadow series for spoilery reasons.

Though I suppose it fits with the original series as well.
Oh here's another band that I know a few songs and love but haven't really checked out for real yet.

I love music that's so heavily layered and melodic at the same time like Blind Guardian seems to do quite well. You know they did a song for Sacred 2 on Xbox360, PS3 and I think PC as well? Their song Sacred Worlds is actually used in the opening cutscene but I haven't played much of the game so I don't know how much more of their stuff shows up. Will have to continue that.

I wish more video games would use licensed music in one way or another. Still waiting for Brutal Legend 2 though it's not likely to come since their original funding efforts for the game fell through. Edited by Discordian

Dude, Horror Show's my favourite IE album. Matt Barlow beasting it out, Castlevania style?

And Dracula's some great fun to play on the guitar. Really simple, but I love that sound.

Stu Block does it pretty nicely as well. He's got pretty weak pitch control in comparison to Barlow, but still, Dracula's hard to sing. I like seeing him throw his style into it as well though.

I'm pretty partial to Stu since he's been the vocalist since I got into the band (I have Dystopia on my MP3 player and listen to it most) but all of IE's vocalists have been amazing.

Stu does do the song rather well but he just doesn't have that visceral feel that Barlow had in the original version. That on top of the fact that I don't much like live music (though this one is pretty good) means I'll probably always love Barlow's version more. :P

The lack of the choir helping during the chorus makes the song sound kinda lacking.

Here's some irony for you: In Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia there is a character named Barlowe.

Okay, I'm not usually a bass guy but this song has an absolutely amazing bass intro.

Have I mentioned before that I need to hear more bands with female vocalists? I've yet to be disappointed by a metal female vocalist.

If you want another song with a really great bass intro, check out Panic Attack by Dream Theater. This is probably one of my favorite songs ever.

I do know that song actually. It's part of what got me out of my Death Metal phase. There was a time where the only metal I listened to was Death usually but I was getting bored of it and had no idea what other genres were out there. Dream Theater helped.

Whoa, Into Eternity's style is certainly very different from Iced Earth. Not just the vocals but everything. It's more thrashy (always a good style to mix into metal if you ask me, one of the reason I love Skeletonwitch. Thrashy death metal)

Barlowe in OoE is the leader of an organization who found a way to combat Dracula while the Belmont clan seemingly disappeared off the face of the earth until the right time to finally destroy Dracula in 1999. The game takes place in late 19th century. Also some spoilers here for the game about Barlow:

He turns out to have been deceiving the main character and is actually trying to resurrect Dracula using the power of the Glyphs which are actually made from Dracula's power in the first place
