I cannot get enough of this album, as of recently. Born of Osiris is definitely at their best with this release.

Though Rosecrance needs a re-do.

It does make me excited for their next one. The first CD was decent, but good lord was the second one awful. It only had one redeemable song, in my opinion.

Also, I think I might have to snag your member title idea, in a fashion.

I've just implored Djenty to listen to Fugazi. He seems excited that Ian McKaye is/was/they've been on hiatus since 2003 so I don't fucking know/is involved with them, so we'll see how this goes.

Alright, everyone. @ has asked us for metal suggestions.

@, @, @@Twiliscael, @@Halfblood,let's not disappoint.

I'll start off with one of my favorites.

Great band to get started. Combines classical guitar styles and clean vocals with some pretty heavy themes.

But that doesn't mean they can't throw it the fuck down.

I SUMMON, INTRODUCTORY DJENT.

Periphery is a good band to ease you into more heavier bands. But they're pretty good on their own.

Here, let me force my Deftones agenda onto you all. REALLY introductory metal band, for most, but they retain a lot of heaviness. Especially with them 7-string++ guitars.

Allow me to give you my favorite Deftones song, bar none.

http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTPn4Jlrjb0

Decidedly not heavy, but Maynard and Chino together is just pure aural bliss.

Edit to keep it on track.

Another favorite of mine, one of the bands that helped shape the genre of melodic metalcore, aside from Shai Hulud.

Misery Signals is complex, emotional, quick on their time signatures, and just flat out amazing.

Oh boy, time to plug these guys again. ISIS. My favorite metal band ever. They combine all the slow builds and atmosphere of post-rock with some heavy stuff and some harsh vocals that come off as strangely tame. One of my Breaking Benjamin / A7X worshipping friends said even he could tolerate it, so here you go.

Suggestions, hm? I'll go with one my favorites as well:

Opeth.

If Mikael's blood thirsty growls don't scare you away, this is truly one of the most beautifully sounding metal bands ever. There is a serene balance between light and heavy, coupled with the amazing songwriting and rich lyrics present within their music. To demonstrate the contrast in their music, here's one of their lighter songs:

http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IzLDT73bkk&feature=related

And one of their heavier songs:

http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7C9Tr4okNw

I can also say Deftones are a wonderful band to get into if you are dipping into metal.

Watch this video. Love this band. Old school hardcore influenced a lot of my favorite metal.

Oh man, guys. I've been sitting here for quite some time listening to your suggestions.

Now, I've listened to metal before, and enjoyed it. Still, earlier, I thought I'd ask Crispy for recommendations, so I did. And now, I'm sitting here with a mild headache after listening to metal of varying degrees of heaviness from various groups suggested by you guys.

And I fucking love it. The metal, not the headache. The headache sucks.

I'm going to be keeping an eye on you guys' recommendations, as well as this thread.

Grindcore! :D Good band, ToBeATree. No grind band will ever amount to the standard that Prowler in the Yard set, but this is still pretty good.

We can just go ahead and consider this Metal Thread gospel. Warning: Regardless of how into metal you are, this intro is still kinda unsettling. Making it even fucking better.

Djenty, TBAT and I are not fucking around when we say we think this is best thread. All the regulars here are well-versed and well informed on their music and it leads to wonderful discussion and music so thick you can walk on it.

That said, this one is for NNL. I miss him and his wall of texts on the subject. Cheers.

Yes, I've posted this more than once. No regrets. KKR, you need to listen to this band. The guitar skill, the flow from easy to hard and back to melodic is insane. Tosin Abasi is amazing.

Haha, when you mentioned Tosin Abasi, I had a feeling it was gonna be Animals As Leaders! This band is definitely a must listen.

KKR, if you find that you like that sort of instrumental, 7-8 string guitar bliss, also give Chimp Spanner a go:

@Djenty 1: Jesus, that song doesn't fuck around. :D

@ Crispy 1: First: Woah. Second: Wow. I know I'm probably not articulating this well, but I love the sheer amount of rage in that. There's a lot more emotion in metal than a lot of people give it credit for.

@Halfblood: That did indeed blast the headache out of my skull. Actually, it had subsided by the time I listened to it.

@Djenty 2: I like very much. :D

@Crispy 2: Vocal-less progressive metal, eh? I like very much.

**apologizes in advance if he botched any terms since he's not used to discussing music**

Thanks for the tracks, everypony. I'll post in here tomorrow after I get some shuteye. I just wanted to get these responses and such out of the way while I was thinking about it.

Now that I think about it, I believe that you were saying something about them in a status update or something.

Also, you may not want to call 'em deathcore. It would upset the bassist!

The band's bassist, Jack Strong, describes their music as hardcore-influenced metal. Although the band is sometimes classified as deathcore, lead vocalist Vincent Bennett has gone on record to say that "deathcore is the new nu-metal. It sucks. And if anyone calls us 'deathcore' then I might do something very bad to them."

So anyways, here be more!

And since Djenty recently got me re-addicted to Devin, have some Strapping Young Lad:

It's basically an Acacia Strain discography in one song.

And I'll call them what they sound like, especially now that they've got a solid one. It was debatable back in 3750 and The Dead Walk days, but Continent, Wormwood and the new one solidify it.

Edit: Yes, I'm purposely skipping "...And Life Is Very Long" because it sounds nothing like the rest of the discography. Edited by Crispy

I'm glad, Rush was (is) a good band that never got the mainstream recognition they deserved.

80's rock is where it's at man, so for the sake of this achievement, I am kinda forced to put some Van Halen up in this thread, bruh.
