Favorite albums this year? Uh... Periphery II, really. :S I liked Koloss, but there were better Meshuggah albums. Periphery II showed a lot of improvements in vocal style, and I liked some of the tone the ACTUALLY HEARABLE BASS had. Though the songs got less underground djenty, and more pop punk sounding, really. I mean, Scarlet, for example. It sounded like Green Day, with more advanced guitar and a scream here and there.

Now I'm not even sure if that's one of my favorites anymore, lel.

I gotta think here... the one album that comes to mind is Death Grips' "The Money Store." They have ANOTHER album called "NO LOVE DEEP WEB" coming out next month, so I wonder how that's going to stack up. Other albums I enjoyed were the DTP's "Epicloud," The Contortionist's "Intrinsic," High on Fire's "De Vermis Mysteriis," Reggie Watts' "A Live in Central Park," Abigail Williams' "Becoming," Killer Mike's "R.A.P. Music," Loma Prieta's "I.V.," Torche's "Harmonicraft," and a certain acoustic EP by a certain band that I happen to like a lot at the moment. MUHAHAHAHAHA.

Glad you liked that one, NN. That solo at the 3-minute mark...DAYUM. Eternal Procession of Souls is not yet in my collection, but I've got five others (Into the Grave, You'll Never See, Back From the Grave, As Rapture Comes and Dominion VIII). If I do get another Grave album it'll be Soulless. Their new stuff is great, but the old albums are the real hoofraisers.

 

Someone needs to make a death metal version of the MLP theme...
