So, I feel like a moron saying this, but I just now decided to listen to some Strapping Young Lad, since I see people in here loving it so much.

 

Just finished City, and my God this is fucking awesome. Why didn't any of you force me to listen to this earlier?

 

Starting into some Meshuggah, and I'm liking what I hear so far. Any recommendations?

YEAH CITY. That album is the angriest ever made. But in terms of Meshuggah, go for Chaosphere and Catch Thirtythree. My two favorites.

Well, Chaosphere is fast Meshuggah. Has some pretty goos songs. Destroy Erase Improve takes what Chaosphere sounded like and made it sound way more.. uh... weird time signature-y. But Nothing and Catch Thirtythree, my favorites, are SO full of wicked grooves. I definitely recommend it.

Today's ride home was fun. I listened to Rotten Sound's "Cursed" for the first time in a while; their other work like "Exit" and "Murderworks" is supposed to be superior, but for now, "Cursed" is the only one I've heard. Fuck yeah grind with exceptional lyricism.

The thread seems to be going slow today... anyway, posting something from this week's album of the week: Psycroptic's "Ob(Servant)." This track, "Initiate," was one of the first metal songs I heard while finding metal videos from the on demand videos from Fuse and the like. Good piece of tech-death.

Sometimes I feel like what Dillinger does is very straightforward, like this song. Very non-mathy, especially when compared to "Calculating Infinity" or even "Miss Machine." However, the horns on this song are a nice quirky touch.

Haven't hsd much time for the internet, and because of tha t, I wasn't here to bump this thread

So anyway, just got back from HevyDevy. And to start my rant off, let me say this: Fuck you, Paradise Lost and Katatonia. Stolen Babies wasn't that bad, but those other two bands were just so unoriginal. And every song sounded the same, yet was more borong than the previous. So anyway, Devy. BEST SHOW I'VE EVER SEEN. I mean, he's one of my guitar heros, and seeing him live was wicked. It didn't feel like I was watching some rich guy, but rather a down to earth, funny dude. His set was amazing, and I got to say hi to him after the show and all. Great show.

I'd go into it more, but I'm rather worn out from the show at the moment.

Be careful what you say about those bands. They each have huge followings. Anyway, this morning has been equal parts good and suckadelic. I'm sick as a dog, but on the other hand, I'm listening to a folk album by (what used to be) a black metal band, so it's cool. May or may not have posted this before, but I don't give a FUCK.

The most complicated song I've ever learned is New Millennium Cyanide Christ by Meshuggah, and Icarus Lives by Periphery. It seems my guitar is missing a string for that.

Well with the software I have, I could make electronic drum beats. Not like actually electro things, but stuff that sounds real enough. And if you could do vocals, then that'd be fucking awesome.

Suicidal Tendencies is pretty good crossover thrash. One of the best. I liked Freedumb more, though.

...That was actually pretty good. I liked it. Wasn't too complicated, but it wasn't some simple Black Album sounding stuff.

Also, you sound like you could join a Meshuggah cover band.
