How would a My Little Pony/Transformers crossover work?

In my mind, I feel like that it is inevitable that there will be a crossover between My Little Pony(G4 especially) and the Transformers(Perhaps taking a slight visual cue towards G1).  That we will see Equestrian and Cybertronian united on the screen in some way(Or in book form).  But the big question is: How will it work?

 

Will it be a 2 part episode of My Little Pony with the Transformers as guest stars?

 

Will it be a stand alone movie?

 

Will it be a multi-part Comic(Highly possible since IDW owns the comic distribution rights to both franchise)

 

Will it be a video game of its own(The only one I can think of involves it being a Smash Bros clone with 10 characters from each side as a playable character(Ex: Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Arcee, Bulkhead, Dinobot, Megatron, Starscream, Blackarachnia, Soundwave, Waspinator, Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Fluttershy, Discord, Princess Celestia, Princess Luna and Derpy Hooves).

 

Or will they go the toy route?  Maybe take a cue from Skylanders.

 

But regardless, if a crossover between both of Hasbro's flagship franchises were to occur, how should it go down?

I think this is quite impossible, the show's don't mix at all and it would just be an awkward episode. Plus I don't think transformers appeal to most of MLP's younger audience.
