I'm a Christian and I believe that Jesus died for our sins, rose on the third day and is coming back to claim His people. Angels and demons are very real. The thing is, the media tends to exaggerate a lot of these things. Some say that the Devil is some freakish creature with horns and all that, but in reality, he can be disguised as anyone.

Don't be scared to join any college activities. However, no matter what, guard your heart. Don't be one of those people who are scared to do stuff because of the "I will go to hell" thing. See, God loves everyone UNCONDITIONALLY. That's the great thing about Him. It's why he sent his Son Jesus to die on the cross for us. In the end, God is the ultimate judge and he will forgive you. However, this doesn't give you the right to go on a sinning binge. No matter what, it all boils down to this: If you know Jesus, and committed your life to serving Him, even if you're one of the most notorious criminals in the world...you can STILL make it to heaven.

What is the problem, exactly?

Sig made by Kyoshi.

Cool things people have said about me:

Never heard of him but I guess just you mentioning him is a good reason not to go anywhere near that name.

(In reference to an author I suggested.)

As i know it, the Devil or Lucifer was an Arch Angel and was striped of his wings for planning to overthrow God, he was the Archangel of the Earth i don't know why people say he is a Red Demon thing with horns, he has short black hair with red eyes and two black wings, he was also the Brother of Venus in Roman mythology and is the Light bringer

I agree with all that.

I would like to add some of my own input to this:
patricia, don't be scared.  You are protected by the Holy Spirit inside you.  As long as you always have a place in your heart/soul for God, He will protect you.  The devil can't do anything to you with the Lord's protection in you.  As a young kid I used to be fearful of evil in a similar fashion, but as I grew older I realized what I have just told you.  I don't need to be scared of evil.

As for being afraid of doing bad things - Jesus died on the cross for our sins and as long as you don't go out and do wrong with the intention of doing wrong for the sake of it, don't worry.  I listen to rock music that my Church would NOT like.  But I don't let the music make me something I'm not.  I just like it for it's sound.  And as for the videos - I didn't even watch them.  They should mean nothing to you.  You are you.  Do as you wish all in good heart.  You'll be fine.

God Bless.
:)

its a fake (most of the time), this methods are a way for those guys to attract attention, which works because people talk more and more about you.

some artist also say "i sold my soul to the devil" as a metaphor, musicians sacrify their private life for fame, and then are sorrounded with fake friends, opportunist and paparazzis, so is like they sold their "soul to the devil"(fame, corporations) and now they are in "hell" (situations described above)

of course, thats just my take in the subject

@,

So true. Well...as the Bible says, God will give them what they deserve. We can say to them "burn in hell!" all we want but God is the ultimate judge. We shouldn't be judging them but attempting to save them. All in all, they just use this phrase to sound cool, but it really can hurt some people.

i woulnt say to them burn in hell, some of the guys that claim to have sold their soul to the devil can be religious too, eminem has said that, and from his music he is also very religious, so thats like the 50% that dont doit to sound cool.

then there is the likes of tyler the creator (profile image) that doit to scare and piss people off for the hell of it. (as they also say "because i am the devil, get on my level" even though he is only atheist) .

to mee, they can do whatever they feel like, after all, is just music, if you have enough self control then you wont turn into a satanist or something so its all ok , just brush it off and keep living.

@,

Yeah, I'm with you on all of that. It's just that Christianity has become so tainted by this world, this pony in the OP has been affected by it.

As it sounds like you are someone who stays away from the occult and black magic by personality, your not in danger. The types of things that would summon a demon or something evil, would require you to get into some obviously really black stuff.

As the replies you've gotten so far have been implying, is that the only way you'll get in a bad situation is if you completely disregard the ways of God. And the types of temptations you'll have to be on guard for are the ones we all have to look out for: Pride, Lust, Wrath, and so forth.

My favorite musician is this guy

post-25260-0-94398400-1399518556.jpg

, Alice Cooper,  who looks bad, plays a bad guy on stage, but he does it to ultimately show the consequences of evil; which means he is in fact doing good so long as he keeps that mindset up of trying to warn people about sin.

So if you pursue music or whatever you decide to do, but keep honoring Christ as central to your life; you don't need to worry about demons.

"35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written,

For your sake we are being killed all the day long;
we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Romans 8:35-39 (ESV)

I know there's a place you walked
Where love falls from the trees
My heart is like a broken cup
I only feel right on my knees.
I spit out like a sewer hole
Yet still receive your kiss
How can I measure up to anyone now
After such a love as this?

According to Judaism there are seven sets of laws that non-Jews have to keep

1: don't worship anyone other than God (so don't worship devils or angels and you'll be cool)

2: don't murder (should be easy)

3: sexual issues (mostly your mom is off limits type stuff)

4: don't steal

5: don't say not nice things about the one who gave all that is good.  (not nice things = curse)

6: don't eat from a living animal (yuck)

7: set up (support) a system of reasonable laws.

Not listening to rock& roll seems not to be on that list.

I think the thing to take away from this is that you shouldn't use your religion as an excuse to hide from the world.  Remember the Jesus was constantly found in the company of prostitutes, tax collectors, Samaritans and the like and rather than chilling with the devote Jews (which earned him a lot of flak).  Your supposed to follow his example and go out there among the corruption and be an example, rather than hide from it in fear that you will be corrupted.

Also most of these musicians are eccentric (sorta like bronies), not evil, and really quite harmless.  They are just entertaining people and brightening their day.
