Will Bronies ever be FULLY accepted?

As you all know there is an existing hate that is targeted towards Bronies.
It is pretty obvious.
When will this stop though?
We see things getting excepted that wouldn't be the norm 40 years ago.
For example: Gay Marriage

We even see Gabe Newell (CEO of Valve) coming out and saying he's a Brony.

So when will this whole "Brony" thing become normal?

As long as there is a gender binary and the related dichotomy of gender socialization, no.

In different terms, as long as men have to live up to machismo and women have their own expectations to deal with as enforced by society, a crossing of the lines such as grown men watching a show for girls will not be taken well.

We're the ones who see this as more than just a girls' show, but unfortunately, the majority doesn't.

Bronies have it harder because not only is this a crossing of gender lines, but also a crossing of age lines which comes off as even more unsettling to those who are not as well-informed.

Unfortunately I don't see that happening anytime soon. People will always hate or fear what they don't understand or don't care to understand. You see I live in a very rural part of the country and around here if I told anyone I was a brony the amount of hate and disgust would be tremendous to say the least, and I could even be branded as someone that kids need to stay away from. Now I am not by any means saying that everyone would have that reaction but I guarantee a few would. But yea, I would love to see the day when you can watch a cute TV show about ponies and not get any second glances or criticism about it.

It'll lessen, but it won't dissapear, at least not anytime soon. Maybe in the next hundred years? Perhaps.

By the way, *accepted.

Brony hate isn't nearly as bad as it was when the fandom first started you know... :maud:

I think the real question is, will nerd groups in general ever be fully accepted? Nothing is ever fully accepted really. I don't see how we're really any different. It's not anything worth worrying about if you ask me.

That is not entirely true. I have gone to Youtube and found plenty of discussions where a brony was involved and they were promptly insulted. I have even had this happen to myself. I made a post concerning a Youtuber and some people said that my opinion was invalid because I like a show for 'little girls'. Sometimes it may not seem like it, but the bullshit gender roles that this society has clinged to for so long is still there and people are still as deluded as ever. The only difference is that fans of shows like these are increasing day by day so there is that, but the gender role nonsense is still completely there and the drones of society will do anything to keep it that way it seems, even to the point of insulting other people just for liking a cartoon.

With that said, most likely, Bronies will never be fully accepted, not until these arbitrary gender roles nonsense disappears. America seems pretty keen on not making progression in a lot of ways so that might take a long while. I really wish this wasn't the case but it sadly is, for now.

Sadly, we will most likely never be accepted by mainstream society.

Like what some of the others on this thread have said, No matter what we are, or what we do, there will always be someone out there who hates us.

Ah victory is such a long way away, but we still move forward to that goal, we all do in a way. We may never be accepted, or maybe a stroke of luck will see us through, until then, keep on keeping on.  B)

AKA: we might eventually, but It will be a long battle.

If furries get accepted more, we will get accepted more. Probably. So if furries start getting better publicity, then we should be next, but that depends on how long mlp fim will last. too.

What evidence could be for a god? Because, if god can do anything, surely a lesser being relative to god, could still trick humans without fail if they wanted to. Which means, a being that appears to be god, may not be god. So even if god showed up in person doing anything and everything, for all you know it could be a demon casting illusions or your brain plugged into the matrix. Just because it claims to be a god, does not mean it is. Thus, there is never evidence enough for a god. Which means you cannot have an accurate reason for believing in god.

two things need to happen.

1: people need to not get so wound up. its a cartoon.

2: the more 'intense' members of the fandom need to stop scaring people. XD

It's just something so...different. Right now, we're early trekkies: we do things that are different from the norm, and like anything that's different, the automatic reaction from people is to pull it back in. They think if they give enough pressure, we'll break, and that things will go back to normal. The longer we keep fighting, the more people will realize that we're not just a phase, and its not an attention issue. We might never be fully accepted, but the level of aggression towards us will bottom out if we give it enough time.

To add to what I said earlier I also think the time Bronies will be accepted, is the time when everybody just stops giving a damn about all this.

Bronies are just apart of the internet culture along with Otaku and other fanatics, and the creepy part of the fan base will still be there and creepy and still be kinda wrong. Nothings will change whether you cry out for acceptance or not you'll still be watching MLP.

So stop caring about the "they don't like us because were different from the norm, when will they accept the fact I love mlp" because you're only troubling yourself with that train of thought.

If we can perhaps be shown in a positive manner by a big network. Say Raj becomes a brony in an episode of the Big Bang Theory maybe we can be accepted more. Or more of a presence at San Diego Comic Con and general comic cons for example. All that most people think of when it comes to furries was that old CSI episode of people in fursuits and fornicating in hotel rooms sadly. It's going to take some patience, time, and hopefully some positive news from the mainstream media. More celebrities coming out to support us never hurts as we're still a very small, very new fanbase compared to Harry Potter, Star Wars, Dr Who, and other "cooler" nerd culture. When i was collecting comics decades ago i never assumed that superhero movies would be the biggest money making films of all time and NOW they are. Things change over time.
