Granny visits an apple convention and is dismayed to see the Flim Flam brothers are up to their old tricks. Only the two are no longer working together... something has divided the brothers! It will be up to Granny to mend hurt feelings. But will she want to?

Looking forward to it, I'm a big fan of the Flim Flam brothers. Getting to know more about them through some family drama should be pretty interesting.

Welp, just got done with it.

Without any spoilers I'd rate it a 6/10.

post-23625-0-01932800-1410322761_thumb.jpg  As you can see, alot of my enjoyment came from the background stuff again. Now I know that friends forever is more of a filler series, but there have been really decent FF issues. Outside the entertaining background gags (and seeing more Fleetfoot, more is always better) the issue really had pacing problems. It seemed to really just tear through the issue of the flim flam bro's fighting over a mare at sonicrainboom speed, and thus the ending felt rather lacking and had very little impact. But again, it is the filler episode of the comic world so a less emotionally impacting conflict and resolution is expected. I did like the near parallels it was inadvertently drawing to brony con, and how many people feel about the fandom growing so large, but other than a gag conflict it didn't amount to anything and thus took away from time they could have spent fleshing out the conflict between the brothers. (to elebaorate, they went from spliting up and not seeing each other for weeks, only to suddenly overcome it in one day, and have the entire conflict detailed in 1 and 1/2 pages). So overall I'd give it a 5/10 or a 6/10 depending (if I would factor in that it is a filler issue or not). Story was very linear, very predicable, and done better elsewere. I also felt like her hate of the oranges was rather odd, as they are part of her extended family, and were invited to the family reunion.

Was going to post yesterday, but the forums seem to be having some trouble. Heres what I thought:

its okay

Truely, I have no strong feelings about it one way or the other, other than mild dissapointment. It wasn't good and it wasn't bad. If anything, its painfully average. I was disappointed that the Flim Flam brothers didn't really get fleshed out at all. They got in a fight, were friends again, and then it was over. We don't learn anything new about them. Missed opportunity.

I can't really point to any specific thing and say "This is bad!", but the whole thing comes together to be very lackluster.

FlimFlam/10

wouldn't recommend.

As a side note, Applebloom in this one reminded me Comic Con. It was just like that this year : /

  • 2 weeks later...

It was average, at best. I'd rate it a 6.5/10. I enjoyed it for what it is, but it lacked that final ingredient that made everything stick. I have no problems with the comic as a whole, just...nothing special.
