Although I find it sad I'm betting the owner of the art was not meaning to be a hater of Derpy in any way but just more or less following the meme and a sick person? it's just a meme...although I find it sad (since I do like Derpy) however as it was not meant in a sickening way I can't really find much wrong with it.

I'm curious as to how people would react if there was something like this directed at Diamond Tiara, or some other nearly universally hated character of the show.

I personally don't think this is all that bad. It's not good, but calling someone a disgusting person based on something they drew on the Internet isn't all that great, either.

...I mean, the creator acknowledges that the behavior depicted in this comic is hurtful, and also shows that he cares for Derpy--"doing hurtful things to your waifu", a title usually reserved for characters for which you hold some affection.

It's not pleasant to look at, but I also don't think it warrants labeling the creator as a fucked up person.

 

edit: It's not exclusively Derpy: there are charts of these for almost every pony, including Twilight, Pinkie Pie, and some OCs....

 

But on a lighter note, here's this.

Well I personally would greatly dislike it if anypony even the hated characters get charts like this. Also I personally think it's way more disgusting because he cares for her!

 

Come on bronies this is no behavior you show towards people or ponies alike! No matter whether you care for them them.

Really, whether this is a meme like thing or not. This form of humor is twisted. The way they are made show that people wasted their time thinking about how to hurt a pony as much as possible. Besides, I fear about less stable people using this as an example :s

Normally Dattebayo gives me the chuckles ... but this time he speaks artistic truth.

 

The point of art is to invoke an emotion, or reaction, even anger or hate. I bear the artist no ill will, and wish him good fortune in his future endeavors. I must also point out that my positive feels toward Derpy have been elevated after seeing that first image.

 

I love art and what it can do.

I agree with you and I see both sides of this argument very clearly.

 

Anti Image - the viewer feels passionate about the subject and is emotionally affected by what it represents. Dislikes the artist.

 

Pro Image - the viewer understands the passion that may be invoked by the art and appreciates it for what it represents.

 

The odd thing is that works of art, from architecture, to watercolors, to literature, to Calvin and Hobbes, to MLP ... the best ones can start a discussion. This is exactly what is happening. I love this discussion.

 

 

 

Those two ... were also meant to invoke strong feelings and push you to discuss.
