"The Fall of Sunset Shimmer" isn't enough anymore as it only showcases her final weeks before leaving Equestria under the horrid terms that she placed upon herself. We need more information, particularly during those early years when she was growing up.

I know that Sunset Shimmer & Twilight first met in the first Equestria Girls movie

 

but, I have a difficult time believing that didn't know each other AT ALL considering they both seem to be the same age &

 

were both Celestia's proteges at practically the same time. I know what I just said makes no sense.

"The Fall of Sunset Shimmer" actually reveals the answer to that. Sunset is a few years older than Twilight as the latter appeared as a filly compared to Sunset who appeared as whatever constitutes as a teenage pony. The human world either moves at a slower pace than Equestria in terms of time or Equestria moves a lot faster.
