I personally think #5 is ADORABLE!

 

And besides, my 'Wanted Dead or Alive' banner kept coming out weird.

I cast my vote on 11. I see that 9 is in the lead and I won't deny it's also nice, but let me tell you a little anecdote ...

 

Back in October 2013, the design of the forums was canged to its current look. Prior to that, the banner was always put in a "frame" with the navigation-bar being more or less a part of the banner; adjusted color, stuff in the banner always made so that the buttons wouldn't cover the picture and so on. But now we have the banner "hanging freely" above the navigation bar. No frame, no limitations except for a certain size. That was and still is my favorite thing about the design change: No need for a rectangular banner. (Okay, I know it's technically still rectangular, but with transparent parts.) That's why I like the "non-rectangular" banners more most of the time.

 

So, now you know why I voted for 11. Or not; did just explain why I didn't vote for a specific kind of banner ... Hm ...

 

And no offense, though: I don't think the "rectangular" ones are bad, it's just my personal preference.

Haaa!  this is no applejack it's a Halloween theme of Fluttershy in her bat transformation spitting seeds on the ground when she ate the apple and glad you like I worked my hardest on this artwork thanks Liil92 !

I really don't know why most people are voting for #9. Not that it isn't great, but it's not gonna fit right onto the site due to it not being a transparent background. 

 

Rainbow Dash is in it. That is the main reason.

Well I could have voted for myself but that wouldn't have been fair :P so I voted number 18 because I thought it was a little bit different with the BBBFF stylising and the apples on the tree spelling out the MLP was a neat idea :P also the rope work with the word forums! I know how hard it is to get that to look readable! Kudos to Artist number 18! (And the rest of you! Well done :) )

19 and 9 are brilliant pieces, however I chose to pick No. 19 as I think it should go quite well with the MLP Forums background and it just seems to blend really nicely, whereas No.9 just looks a tad too chunky.

I could not decide between 9, 13,12, 20,23.

I Eliminated 20 cuz It's similar to the Trixie banner in terms of style.

Then I Eliminated 23 for the same reason as 20.

Even though I love RD, I eliminated 9 because this is AJ's Month.

Then my decision betwee12 & 13 became clear when I realized this is AJ's month and it's fall.

So I picked 13. The orange leaves as well as the pumpkin goes well with the current season as well as a good contrast to AJ's colour and life.

I've been speculating about the about of votes, and I'm not diss'ing the banner that's winning, but it's definitely not the best out of the huge batch of banners that are in this competition, no matter what you say to back it up.

 

The previous competition is a prime example. There was a banner that looked great, but it didn't have a transparent background. Did it win? No. It lost horribly because no one really liked the character or preferred the other ponies instead. That is why themes were created. To remove biased opinions and likes or dislikes of one or more characters.

 

Banner #9, however, breaks this rule by adding an extra pony into the banner, which is Rainbow Dash. It's basically increasing the likelihood of the banner being voted due to people who think that Rainbow Dash is the best pony.

 

I myself love Rainbow Dash, and she's my favourite pony, but that doesn't mean a banner with Rainbow Dash should win, because the theme isn't Applejack Shippings, it's just simply Applejack.

 

I'm totally gonna get hated for posting this, but someone has to do it.

It's a good point you raise there, I must admit character bias very much contributes to the results, and I thought the same initially when I started judging the banners.

Whether or not it is Applejack themed or what is the thing. The banner after all does include Applejack, and well.. Apples of course. I don't think it's breaking the rules necessarily but it's hard to say. Plus that person did put in a lot of effort to create the banner,

Now why would you say that they put a lot of effort into creating that banner? Please elaborate on such claims, because from what I see, it takes barely four minutes to recreate. There must be some sort of misconception.

Perhaps. But as far as I'm concerned, skill and effort level doesn't contribute to the usage of the banners to be chosen.
