Pegasai of course, I love them, I love their wings, I love their pegasus pride, I love their grace and, yes I find wingboners adorable as well.

Wow... I really regret searching "wingboners" on Google  :o

It doesn't matter who you hurt, if you're just proving you're the best.

OK, so I'm that guy that really likes the fence (when given a decision, always choose fence). So, Unicorns have magic and are generally all round better 'cause of teleportation and telekinesis. Pegasi have wings (Freaking Wings), I mean even if they couldn't control weather, who wouldn't want that freedom (Well apart from FlutterShy's & many people's [including myself] fear of heights). Earth ponies in my head space are strong and almost invincible. I like changelings a lot (Strangely this opinion has never changed....Sorry) and Bat ponies are cooool. If I had to choose to be one well... Time To Impale Myself On That Fence!

I'll definitely choose pegasi. Flight is more useful than people give it credit for. For one it'll greatly reduce commuting times, and additionally it would make things pretty convenient. That's not even mentioning how fun and exhilarating fight would be. Then there's weather control; arguably one of the most important jobs in Equestria. This alone makes pegasi more than essential to Equestria. Plus, how cool would controlling the weather be. Lastly are some of the other cool perks to being a pegasus like walking on clouds and accessing cloud cities. Pegasi are awesome ponies, and are both the best and my favorite.

Unfortunately, pegasi have become underrated, and vise versa, unicorns are overrated. The fact is, unicorns have become overpowered; which is a negative in my books. It's part of why I like pegasi the best; they are actually balanced. Besides, people assume every unicorn is as powerful as starlight. Don't get me wrong, unicorns are cool, but their extensive power has made me like them a bit less. Besides...

Pegasi FTW!

I see only two limits to a unicorn's magical potential:

- Raw power. This is the biggest stumbling block; I highly doubt that the average unicorn has loads and loads of raw magical power ready to be channeled and manipulated. There are truly exceptional unicorns like Twilight - before her ascension to alicornhood, anyway - but unicorns like her are the exception, not the norm.

- Motivation. Unless a unicorn's special talent has something to do with magic, most unicorns don't see the need to learn new spells. If they can get through life with only telekinesis and a toolbox of spells central to his or her special talent, why bother learning new spells?

Even then, there's nothing to explicitly suggest that the "raw power" thing is a static quantity - it could just as easily be something that a unicorn could increase with training, like lifting weights to strengthen one's muscles. Most unicorns never bother to practice magic beyond what is strictly necessary for what they're interested in doing with their lives, so they'd never develop the power needed for the advanced spells even if they theoretically could.

And if we're talking about which pony we'd want to be, I'd pick unicorn - learning all those different spells sounds fun. Plus we've seen a number of examples of combining magic with technology (Tank's propeller, the Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000, Kerfuffle's leg) - with my engineering background, I could probably invent other cool stuff along those lines.

For what it's worth, "Sonic Rainboom" showed spells for both flight and cloud walking. Then again, the butterfly wing spell was very difficult to cast - Twilight looked like she was about to pass out after she cast it on Rarity, and even pre-alicorn she could teleport all over the place without breaking a sweat. Plus the butterfly wings didn't seem to offer nearly the same performance as pegasus wings.

And for what it's worth, Equestria is no stranger to aeronautical engineering, though obviously being able to fly purely with your own personal body parts is way more convenient.

I has always assumed that earth ponies were the underrated ones, that the stuff they're good at is to many fans not as cool as flight or magic. It certainly doesn't help that many independent farmers in real life live around the poverty line.

Yeah, I'm not denying that unicorn are objectively the most powerful, because they are. It seemed that the show never really put a cap on the ability of unicorns, thus leading them to be the most powerful of the three. I'm just saying that being the most powerful doesn't necessarily make them the best. Pegasi are by far the most balanced of the three. They have a cool little set of powers that help them out in life and make them interesting, but they don't have so much power that they become overpowered; they are just right. And considering that flight and weather magic come naturally for pegasi, it's hard to see them being replaced by unicorns, who need to be extremely talented in magic just to hover or move a cloud. So the pegasi's balanced skill set and important role in Equestria make them the best in my eyes.

Yeah, I'd say Earth ponies are still the most underrated out of the three. That being said, popularity for Earth Ponies is rising whereas the popularity for pegasi is dropping. Who knows, maybe Earth Ponies will surpass pegasi in popularity someday (which would be a sad day for me).

Pros for unicorns: Telekinesis is so super useful, and all unicorns seem strong enough to use it. Plus more powerful ones can teleport, which in my book beats out flying as a method of transportation... at least, if you look purely at efficiency. To soar through the sky seems much more enjoyable, so that's a pro for the pegasus side.

Look, just don't be an Earth Pony, I guess that's what I'm getting at. :D

Happy minion of The Fabulous One!
