music Music genres you like that others dislike?

Depends on who you ask. There's lots of metalheads out there but not so many who are fans of the particular bands and genres I like.

I also love trance and I've found maybe one or two other people who like trance besides myself.

This is only really counting people I've interacted with though and not representative of people as a whole.

Trance forever!

Anyways I guess if I had to say a genre that others may dislike it would be any of the forms of orchestral music, I particularly enjoy Richard Wagner. Might as well include nu metal too, doesn't really get that much love that I have seen, could be wrong though.

Could I send me some examples of French Atmospheric Post-Black Metal Shoegaze fusion? It sounds like an interesting genre.

I'm actually just talking about Blackgaze.  :P

Punk Rock (Any kind with the exception of Nazi Punk. Go home, Nazi Punks)

Death Metal

Thrash Metal

Other than that, most of the stuff I have is easy to get into. I also have a feeling that a fairly big chunk of this thread is going to be Punk Rock and Death Metal.

Well ... every genre is disliked by at least a few others. :P

I personally love dubstep and its 'subgenres' (like melodic dubstep, chillstep, etc.). A lot of people like to claim that it's 'not music' (which to me, is pretty much like saying Skyrim isn't a video game), but I don't care, I wub it. :squee:

Any genre is fine with me. Afterall, if a person doesn't like a certain genre, said person just doesn't know how to enjoy it. In the end, its his loss for not being able to expand his entertainment.

HOWEVER, if I really have to pick one, it'd be symphonic power metal. The most complex sub-genre known. You basically have to know something about orchestras and choir and balancing that power with the heaviness of metal in order to conjure up that raw energy. The vocalist has to be just right, the rhythm, the intensity of the orchestra. All of it merging into a complete unity of majesty and awe. Well, buck. I just love songs about dragon slaying sword wielding white and long bearded wizards.
