newfrickinshow 100 November 22, 2014 Share November 22, 2014 Personally, I would like him to sound like Merlin from Disney's "Sword in the Stone". He has a rather high pitched and comical tone. Also, Gandalf or Saruman-like would work well too. Star Swirl the Bearded should should sound like me which is why I expect to have a call from Hasbro any day now. 1 Sharp Cookie says it's time to rock out with your cook out. Dracu98 139 December 6, 2015 Share December 6, 2015 like Discord of course. I still think they are one and the same person. but if it comes to voice actors, I think karl swenson who spoke merlin in "the sword in the stone" would fit the role. starswirl is the merlin-equivalent of mlp after all. but IF starswirl appears in the series AND is spoken by john de lancie, we will finally know for sure that Discord is Starswirl. but that does not belong to this thread, sorry
sweetolebob18 728 December 7, 2015 Share December 7, 2015 I'll go w Elmer Fudd. (or Kripky from Big Bang) "Be vewy, vewy quiet. We're hunting Dscowd." Seriously, one of the BIG differences between modern cartoons & the stuff from the 1930s is that the old cartoon characters were a lot more distinctive. Modern characters all sound pretty much the same. 1Bit 1,531 December 8, 2015 Share December 8, 2015 Hmm Gandalf, Merlin, just generally very wizard-y! ---< Fanfic Writer, Music Maker, Film Director and Voice Actor >--- Don't expect anything incredible though!
Trottermare Galamane 12,005 December 8, 2015 Share December 8, 2015 No one else but Morgan Freeman would be appropriate. Very good choice, I like how you think but I'm going to have to say "Brian Blessed" as know one will sound more powerful then him. Willow 1,008 December 8, 2015 Share December 8, 2015 Those sound like good suggestions to me. Also, I'll add Patrick Stewart into the mix. I love Patrick Stewart's voice. That would sound amazing. “Hardship often prepares an ordinary person for an extraordinary destiny.”― C.S. Lewis
Unlikeable Pony 2,698 December 8, 2015 Share December 8, 2015 Depends."Show" star swirl the bearded would almost assuredly sound different from how "comic" star swirl would. What I mean is that all the instances of Starswirl in the show show him to be a very wise and more serious individual, Banishing the sirens in a very heroic way, befriending Scorpan, and Journal of the two sisters has him speaking in a rather learned and level headed way. On the other hand, Comic star swirl is basically Pinkie pie as a Unicorn, and retcons his "defeat" of the sirens to him losing against them in a VERY humiliating and stupid manner and just pushing the mirror next to them and saying "Screw it, other dimension, they're your problem now!". Plus he's so out of it that upon seeing an obviously evil and dangerous accumulation of magical energy he nails a "Keep away, probably dangerous" sign on it and walks off. So, If we go by Comic Star swirl, he'd probably sound very cooky and out of it, as a cloud cuckoolander. I kind of imagine him having a VA like a less wise Master Oogway from kung fu panda. El Duderino 879 December 8, 2015 Share December 8, 2015 I think Christopher Lee (Saruman/Count Duku) would be perfect. He strikes me as more of a secluded, anti-social wizard. Ian McKellen's or Patrick Stewart's voices seem a little too gentle and nice to me. Jangocoolguy 433 December 8, 2015 Share December 8, 2015 (edited) Of late, I'm thinking BC VA David Kaye, who's been in stuff with various other VAs, be the regular or guest. I'm thinking something similar to when he played Professor X on X Men Evolution. Also, this...
