Right Eye or Left Eye Dominant?

Treble Bolt

Recommended Posts

My left eye is dominant to match my dominant hand. From what I understand, cross dominance is actually more common in females.

I do practice shooting with my right hand though and I've become almost equally as good at that as with my left, so either my right eye takes over when I'm doing that or I subconsciously adjust where I'm holding to compensate for it.

It would seem that I'm dominant in both eyes.

I'm actually really proud with these results; when I was younger, I used to always have both eyes as my dominant eyes.

However, since I read so often, I believe it was my right eye that soon became dominant (I am right handed).

Glad to see my eyes are starting to crawl into a different standpoint, I guess?

I really couldn't detect any differences, and from the results I got and from the tests' results, I'm apparently dominant in both eyes.

I'm rare, good for me.

I knew I was right eye dominant before I even took the test. My vision is very poor, but of the two, my left eye is worse. If you look at a side view of my glasses, you can see that the left lens is a little more bulgey (That should be a word!)

I did go shooting once, and oddly, my aim was very good.

For those who can't tell or don't seem to have any eye dominance, it isn't an ambidextrous, but instead NO eye dominance, which is called Ambi-Ocular.....It's nothing bad, but people without an eye dominance have a harder time with depth perception (which the brain easily compensates for when you are younger, but it's gets harder at you age) and other fine ocular skills. However, this is actually fairly uncommon, and most people who think they don't have a dominant eye just don't understand what they are looking for in their eye dominance test.

When doing the test, look at the relative position and size of the object you are focusing on, and even if there is a slight difference, there is an eye dominance.  I can't say for certain what shift means what, but overall, when you are looking out both eyes, the eye that is closest to what you see with both eyes when one eye is closed is your dominant eye. Also, for people who haven't done archery, shooting, or really anything that requires aiming very much may not notice their eye dominance, but for those who have done these things, it becomes much more obvious due to cause and effect....

I guess I would have to go with I have no dominant eye... they both do their thing equally. Only problem is in the past few weeks I appear to be going blind in both eyes. I cannot see with/without my glasses everything is blurry no matter what... I have had fantasies for years of blinding myself, not necessarily by cutting out my eyes but... maybe...? staring at the sun a bit too long? Heh... But no this recent development of blurred eyesight has nothing to do with my deep private fantasies of blindness.

Right eye dominant, right handed

Makes sense

I can consciously switch between both eyes, I had this thing as a kid where if I wasn't concentrating on something or if I got bored and was thinking, my eyes just drifted in different directions, and I can now do this consciously as well.
I can also make my eyes vibrate and unfocus / focus at will, and go cross eyed in all ways.

So many party tricks with just my eyes. :D

I've got the same problem of being right handed and left eye dominant, as a photographer it's challenging because I have to always look through the eyepiece with my left eye (which is actually a bigger deal than you would think because I'm the only one who is left eyed in my class and the rest is right eyed and we share cameras, so I always have to move the eye cup.)  Oddly enough my left eye is actually worse than my right eye, I can see better through my right eye opposed to my left so that's another problem  :P

I'm definitely right-eye dominant. I tried something else years ago to come to that conclusion. I'd just stare at my finger, shut one eye and then the other. The image seemed to remain the same for my right eye but seemed to change angle for my left. Thus, I determined that I was right-eye dominant. But I think that this test is probably more accurate.

Unfortunately for me, I suffered facial paralysis to the right side of my face last year. It's better now but has left me with some weakness in the right side of my face. This means my right eye tends to get a bit more droopy than the left when I'm tired, as well as annoying tingling from time to time and not as much control, overall.

I'm right-everything on my body. Right hand, right leg, right eye, right brain. Though, I've heard that "brainedness" is somewhat of a myth.

I've actually thought about this myself before, about two years ago, I was looking at something far away and noticed that I seemed to be favoring my right eye a lot more so I decided to try using my left eye more often and now I can control which eye I want to use, its really cool. I am originally right-eye dominant though, and am right-handed. I can do all sorts of stuff with both hands, but when it comes to writing, I have no idea why but with my left hand its like Twilights hand writing was when she was signing up for the princess of the fall formal thing. Then again, my normal handwriting is pretty bad to start with lol.

I'm almost fully ambidextrous, preferring my left side for physical activity (particularly in fencing, where being left handed is a huge advantage). I wear glasses, and my left eye has far better vision than the right, so I suppose it's my dominant.

  • 5 years later...

Left-eye dominant. It's pretty obvious sometimes when one eye is tired how well my vision is.

I’m right eye dominant, if I remember correctly, although I’m starting to feel like the difference between my eyes isn’t as drastic as it used to be.
