Princesses in other Equestrian cities

RainbowMau

Recommended Posts

Crystal Empire has Cadence

Ponyville has Twilight

But... Do the other cities have princesses?

Does Manehattan have a Princess?

Does Baltimare have a Princess?

Does Appleloosa have a princess?

Does Cloudsdale have a princess?

And well, the same goes for the rest :maud:

I don't think they have any. Lauren Faust didn't want so many Alicorns, even Cadance wasn't an Alicorn in her original idea. Too many Princesses could be a problem.

Though Manehattan will have one if Rarity ever became an Alicorn. (Dashie - Cloudsdale, etc.)

Lauren Faust didn't want so many Alicorns

Keep in mind that although Lauren Faust's vision is echoed in the current staff, they have, on numerous occasions, gone back on what she wanted. (e.g. Rainbow Dash becoming Scootaloo's adoptive big sister.) Since Lauren Faust is not in charge of the show, it could very well be possible that we'll have more alicorns. (Plus, it seems like they're happening way too frequently in the background now for it to just be small animation errors, especially since they appear for multiple frames, whereas usually animation errors are there for one or two only.)

Unfortunately, though, we just don't know. We know very little about the other areas in Equestria aside from Ponyville, the Crystal Empire, and Canterlot. We do know that these are possible areas for them to visit again (after all, they visited Manehattan in Season 4), but whether or not they'll expand upon them is anyone's guess. Personally, I'd like to hear more about Saddle Arabia. We've heard of the Saddle Arabians and their designs, and they're notably very different from the usual pony designs of the other places mentioned.

I doubt there will more alicorns. Actually, I HOPE there aren't more alicorns. Sure, Lauren Faust left the show, but that doesn't necessarily mean we will have more alicorns. I wouldn't be surprised if we got more, though.

Though Manehattan will have one if Rarity ever became an Alicorn. (Dashie - Cloudsdale, etc.)

Now that I hear that, I get the feeling Hasbro will end off the show by making each of the mane 6 alicorns and giving them a city to rule. :o

Probably not. Chances are, this is how it is:

Manehattan and Cloudsdale are run by mayors, Appleloosa has a sheriff and we don't know anything about Baltimare.

God it hurt to type that.

Although it's kind of odd that the Crystal Empire is run by a princess. Then again, princesses in Equestria aren't the same as it they are in the real world. They're just there because they're marketable.

Also, Twilight is the Avatar. She must master all six elements, and bring balance to Equestria.

This headcanon totally won't be destroyed by season 5.

Not every city needs an Alicorn. They have a good municipal thing going, and there are enough princesses in Equestria as it is. If the Mane Six ever travel beyond Equestria, maybe we'll see more and different royal figures. Perhaps each region has some equivalent to Alicorns.

Ponyville too, and it also has Twilight as their Princess.

We don't know that for sure yet. The title "Princess of Friendship" is kind of vague in terms of who she's ruling, if anyone at all. From what I've gathered, her role is probably to travel the world and save the day, or something. (Unless there was something I overlooked that said otherwise.)

It seems pretty clear that there are only four Princesses of Equestria, but it's also equally clear that other lands e.g. Saddle Arabia and Maretonia have their own peers and leadership. However, they all rank below the four Princessess. Also remember that Cadence was sent to the Crystal Empire by Celestia to protect the Crystsl Heart, which is her element in a way. In other words, she's acting as a agent of Celestia. Honestly no other culture can stand up to the four Princesss, so it's good they are benevolent.

As far as the Princess of Friendship title and her castle it doesn't appear that she will be ruling as such. Her role, as she said, is to spread the magic of Friendship and I'd think continue to protect Equestria.

Thinking about it, there are only four. When Tirek took over, he was surprised to learn of a fourth (which Discord was saving for the end). And if there were others, he'd have already gained some alicorn magic before confronting the princesses.

Having them all travel Equestria was what I expected for season 4, but glad with how they set the stage for it. Here's to season 5!  :yay:

Because the town names are bad puns.

I'll like to say that I would prefer to see that no more Alicorns be added to the show. We know that four were created. It would require a significant event for another to be gifted with that power. If various cities in Equestria had a princess then the power that the role provides would be significantly diminished.

I hope not.

If there was a princess for each little city and town in Equestria, things would get out of hoof in a hurry. Let's say that Princess Celestia introduced a decree that would, say, change a fundamental part of Equestrian society. Imagine having to get such a decree past not just Princess Luna, Princess Cadance (let's say the Crystal Empire is an integral part of Equestria,) and Princess Twilight, but the hundreds of other princesses that rule over other parts of the country. Let's say Manehattan's princess says no, then what? Let's say half of the local princesses reject such a decree, what then?

At that point, it would be best to either do away with the princess-per-city system and institute some kind of national legislature or council, or get rid of the numerous and redundant princesses and consolidate control at the national (Canterlot) and municipal levels.

That's why I see Twilight not as the princess of Ponyville, but just the Princess of Friendship who just so happens to reside in Ponyville.

I wouldn't think so. Alicorns are a rare species of pony, so the creators wouldn't put that many alicorns in the show. But I do believe their are other rulers that may or may not be alicorns in foreign nations such as Saddle Arabia.

Oh god having many princesses would not be a good idea just the idea may just make equstria look like a dictatorship. This is my opinion only and I just don't think we need some many rich ponies since there is enough as there is.

Well...

That seems like pretty solid evidence that she rules over Ponyville or somewhere close to it.

I'd only be okay if they existed outside Equestria. Ponies could exist on another continent and I can see one or two existing to manage their own things. Maybe a rogue Alicorn from a sovereignty that's failing, unlike Celestia. That would be interesting.

There seems to be the impression that all Princesses are alicorns.  Not so.  Remember Princess Platinum, Prince Blue Blood, & the Earth pony king ? (Can't remember his name).  Alicorns get to be Princesses, but not all Princesses are alicorns.  I don't know if there are any more non alicorn royalty, but it is certainly possible.

She lives just outside Ponyville, but that doesn't mean she rules over it.

Prince Charles is Prince of Wales, Earl of Chester, Duke of Cornwall, Duke of Rothesay, Earl of Carrick, and Baron of Renfrew, but he lives in London.

I don't think Twilight rules over anywhere specific.

Princess Platinum wasn't an Alicorn, yet was a princess.

She's interesting because she was acting under her father's authority-the unicorn King. She was much more in line with the definition of a princess- the offspring of a King or Queen-but was given an assignment as Royal family members often are. She may have even been heir to the throne and would upon her father's death become Queen-reagent.

The Equestrian Princessess are sovereign in their realms. Our terminology breaks down, but what it comes down to is they all defer to Celestia, but she's perfectly happy to return the favor. Celestia wants her sister and former students to suceed in their roles and play their part.
