I decided to upgrade to a new 3ds XL recently, and thanks to Nintendo's restrictions and Gamestop, I couldn't transfer my data. Now, I'm starting over after losing 150+ hours! :baconmane:  It's not too bad, though. I still enjoy 4U, and I'm still trying to find the best weapon class for me.

That's harsh. I somehow retained all my data on the game cartridge after idiotically stepping on my 3DS and breaking it. The only things I lost was SD card data: Friends list, Guild cards, shouts, DLC, item sets, etc.

a fresh start probably wouldn't hurt. I seem to recall rushing ahead to completion as soon as the game came out. Next time I'll take it slow and finish all my quests before moving on.

On another note, I'm surprised how many newcomers there are to the game still. The non japanese countries seem to be receiving mh4u pretty well from what I've seen. I never cease to see more people joining into low rank rooms when hunting with buddies.

Albeit many of them are playing via second slot characters. :P

I've got two problems to deal with. The first one is about my current pace after starting over. Thanks to college, my progression has slowed down considerably, and I'm not even near high rank caravan! I was hyped about hunting online with people here, but I doubt that will happen anytime soon.

My second problem isn't as bad. I'm trying to main three weapon classes. I'm keeping greatsword in the list, but lance and charge blade are competing for the second spot. For the third spot, I'm going for a more mobile/support weapon. the weapons that I'm considering for that spot are the sword and shield, the bow, and the light bowgun. The heavy bowgun is a possibility, too. The weapon loadout that I'm going for is one heavy hitting weapon, one defensive weapon, and a mobile/support weapon.

That's pretty much it. If anyone doesn't mind, I'd like advice/feedback on the weapon loadout. Also, are there any hunters who are currently starting or are close to the beginning? I'm pretty much desperate enough to look for other hunters working on hr1 quests.

Lance is a fantastic Defense weapon!

It's arguably weaker (slower) without Evasion +3 though. Each time you backstep, you're virtually invincible. Being able to dodge the monsters' attacks swiftly and without moving too far away can really improve hunting times.

Having used HBG 800 times in 4u and plenty of others, i can honestly say its neither made for mobility OR support, but it's a heavy hitter. In terms of support, Hunting Horn is the king. LBG comes pretty close, and of course bow is an all rounder mobile/support. If you want maximum mobility for ranged weps, I suggest the bow (which can also play a support role)

Oh, I forgot to mention that I'm a guard lancer. The charge blade got my interest, when I found out about guard pointing. Thanks for the info on the gunner weapons, too. I think I'm getting close to finding my preferred weapon classes!

Well, Crimson said most of the things I would say, but I'll just throw this out there: Sword and Shield can also be a great support weapon too if you use the Wide Range skill with it. Since Sword and Shield is the only weapon that can use items while unsheathed, it's by far the best weapon to take advantage of that skill. In fact, I think a Wide Range +2 Sword and Shield user with potions is probably the best 'healer' set in the game. I'm pretty sure the Hunting Horn is the only other weapon that can easily heal allies by using its songs, but HH healing songs generally suck; they heal so little HP and it takes a lot longer to play the notes and the recital than to just use a potion as a S&S.

Why stop at wide-range +2, when you can get Speed eating +2, and insta-heal everyone within half a second!

Only issue is the lack of firepower. A heavy hitting weapon can increase the monsters' amount of staggering, allowing more player hits, hence increased times. I'm a fan of RAW over element, but I'm sure there's a few good sets out there.

Though, SnS can also mount uphill I've found, which makes an interesting turning point in a fight.

It's happening! Get hype!

I've gotta catch up before the summer! I've been slacking off.

:o

This looks great! It seems that every class get's some tlc in the new game. My friend already complained a bit that the combat system was a bit basic, and this is gonna make it way better! :grin2:

Yes! I am hyped!  :pinkie: I've been keeping track of 'Monster Hunter Cross' for a while now, and I'm so glad it's finally been confirmed to be coming to west. I'm looking forward to this game more than anything else right now! I can't wait to try out Adept (Bushido) Longsword.

If anyone's still looking to play MH4U, I'd love to play that again too. I still have a lot of stuff to do in G-rank!

THIS happens to be my absolute favorite game! I got MH4 Ultimate a few months ago, and seriously could not stop playing it. My favorite weapon is the Insect Glaive, designed from the Brachydios called the Dios Rod, upgraded to the Demolition Press. With this I usually crush the Gore Magala G level to try to get its armor. If anyone needs help or wants to help me out (I need it lol), just go to my profile and message me!

Warmest of Breezes,

It's about time MH X was announced.

Generations has a nice ring to it, also.

Looking forward to completing that one too, and for the inevitable grinding of HR and seeing the friendly hunting community yet again.

I'll have to keep a lookout for when a proper release date is announced.

When I was playing Monster Huter 4 Ultimate, I always dreamed of hosting an event. Zinogre is my favorite Monster Hunter...monster so I thought up a fun event on Mondays where hunters in all packs work together to get their very own Zinogre Armor set.

Maybe that can start a week or so after Generations is released.

Maybe...if Zinogre is in the game.

I got Monster Hunter Generations and I'm enjoying it so far. Just recently got some Dual Pincers and some Great Maccao armor.

Its been over a week since Generations came out. Any thoughts so far?

So far I'm enjoying it. I saw some of the new, aggressive monsters and I'm up to 4 star quests.

I'm absolutely loving it. I recently got to 5 star village quests, although I haven't touched online yet. Adept style is by far my favourite style; that 'whoosh' sound when you time a dodge perfectly is so satisfying!

If our spare time lines up, we should all hunt together sometime. :squee:
