It's Just me? Or maybe...

Well, i was watching some series i like very much, and then came to me the thought "Wow, i REALLY wanted to be inside that work, like as a character, that adventures itself with his others friends, and always one new and exciting thing happens" but then i realise i live in a world where the unique excitement we have is to live with our family, then go work, buy your things, marry yourself, have a son and die, like, really thats the unique thing we can do here, and to complete this thought, i'm an atheist, so i don't believe when i die in this boring life, there'll be a heaven where i could have infinite tons of fun and met everyone i know, just an eternal void. and that makes me think that the unique thing that saves me from other much worst things (like suicide) is to know there are people out there that have the same perspective about that, and maybe what we always desire is to have one simple world, without the bad things that happen all the time in real life, where there'll be always a hero to save us, or a friend that can help us.

i really have kept this thought to me, and i wanted to share it with you and know what you think about it.  :squee:

Well, you mention one possibility of life, that being the whole grow-up get-married have-kids raise-kids grow-old-and-die scenario but, like I said, that's only one.

Sadly, life doesn't have too many real life heros and, more often than not, we have to be our own hero, which isn't a bad thing to be, really.

The reality is that life's possibilities are infinite and endless and, if you have a dream of becoming something (artist, musician, whatever) and you follow that dream to its ultimate conclusion to fame and success then, during the course of that journey, life can take you to places you never imagined.

Even if you don't follow a dream life'll still take you to places you could never imagine, some great, some not so good and some downright horrible (don't worry about the horrible.)

Life is, after all, an epic journey and none of us know where we'll ultimately end up.

Life is what you make of it.... if you perceive it as just another step to death, then "your gonna have a bad time" (Sorry, i couldent post the meme link for some reason.)

You need to give your life meaning, and no, that does not necessarily mean a religion, it could be as simple as living life to the fullest, or to be a loving father/mother and Spouse. But only you can put this meaning into your life, because those whom look for meaning in other places other than their own heart, are setting themselves up for failure.

That's a great opinion, as you said life takes us to unexpected places and gives us surprising adventures, but an real life adventures sometimes brings us to dishonest people, that can destroy our dreams and hurt our hearth, but in majority of the awesome works, characters have everything they need to defeat someone in their paths, and in real life sometimes there isn't a way to do it and this really stop you.

if you have perfect circumstances that let you course an obstacle, soon other one that you can't pass will appear, an simple example is "wow i want to be the fast runner in the world", and then you see Usain Bolt's record, 9.58 seconds to run a 100 meter course, you can't REALLY beat him, maybe you can do it a tiny bit faster, but it's so hard not because you didn't train, it's because human legs aren't designed to run that fast, no matter how much you train, you won't make a 8 seconds run, and that's a physical limitation, you just CAN'T run 100 meters in 8 seconds with your legs, other ways could have better chances for you to improving, but if you really liked running, you would just be forced to give up?

Nobody said that what you perceive as exciting and positive experiences is what everyone else do. Some people care very little about their family, their friends (if there are any), and wouldn't mind if their bloodline ends with them. For people like Nikola Tesla for instance, who lived in poverty and without family or a spouse to support, the exciting pursuit in life was his dedication to Science and inventing.

You shouldn't be held back by comparing your desires for a stable and secure future to fictional characters, however. I think the way you think of the people you see as dear to you is wonderful, and it's an exemplary way to look at others. :)
