Among the Mane 6, Who Are the Best Friends?

I've always thought:

 

Twilight - AJ

Rarity - Fluttershy

Rainbow - Pinkie

 

 

Mostly agree. I think aj is definietly twilights and rainbow pinkie pie is perfect. but I see rarity/ fluttershy as each their own thing, particular bestie

I think that Pinkie and Rainbow are a lot closer than most people think. They both get called out for being too reckless/hyperactive, and I think that gives them some common ground. And recall that it was RD who actually saw Pinkie during her Pinkamena stage-she was the first one to go check on Pinkie, and I think that counts for something.

 

Next, I would say Fluttershy/ Rarity. They meet at the spa pretty much weekly from what I can tell, and as others have mentioned, they seem to share some common ground as far as interests go.

 

Next, we have AJ/ Rarity. This one hasn't been touched on too much, and when it is it's usually shipping-related, but I think they're friends because, regardless of what polar-opposites their occupations are, they're both businessmares. They can understand each other better because they both have the hardship of trying to make it in the business world. I think this fact helps them put their differences aside, and gives them a common bond.

 

As far as Twilight goes, I see her being really good friends with everypony aside from Pinkie and Rainbow. I don't think she hates them or anything, they just seem to wear on her patience more, mainly because they're usually not interested in getting anything productive accomplished, whereas Twi is all about results.

I disagree in terms of Twilight not being good friends with Rainbow Dash. If you watch the show and how they interact with each other they do seem a lot closer than you may think.

 

1. They are both avide fans of Daring Do (Thanks to Twilight) so they have something they can bond over.

2. When Twilight became an alicorn Rainbow Dash was ecstatic "Twilight's got wings! AWESOME! A new flying buddy! (hugs Twilight)" It seems that Rainbow really loved the prospect of flying with Twilight, until season 4 she was never able to have that and when it finally happened she felt like a dream came true. Also, it seems that she really wanted a "flying buddy" to hang out with. Before you say anything let me just add that Fluttershy hardly ever flies, and Scootaloo can't fly at all.

3. Rainbow took the liberty of teaching Twilight how to fly when after she got her wings.

4. In 'Daring Don't' after Twilight and the remaining Mane 6 find Rainbow Dash, Twilight asks "Quick where does it hurt." I think it shows that Twilight's main concern was that Rainbow was injured and thus shows a strong bond they have and how much Twilight cares about Rainbow.

5. Twilight was the first to step up to help Rainbow with her Wonderbolts history test and even though it was hard at first Twilight didn't give up on Rainbow and actually tried to console her when she felt hopeless.

6.The scene at the near end of 'Tanks for the Memories' when Tank was burying himself for the winter, Rainbow started tearing up and Twilight put her hoof on Rainbow's shoulder to comfort her.

7. After Tank was done most of the Mane 6 leave almost immediately after, but Twilight doesn't, instead she stays with Rainbow a little longer to make sure if she's feeling ok.

 

So I think they are much closer than you're giving them credit for.

Well I've a minor Head Canon on how Fluttershy & Rarity met.  Pinkie knows everyone in Ponyville & considers them her friend. (I can just see Fluttershy & Pinkie meeting.  She probably wet herself then ran home & hid under the bed.  Probably Pinkie's toughest challenge before Cranky).  But, when Rarity's cat got sick, Pinkie brought in her friend -the one that knows everything about animals.  Fluttershy cured Opal & that was the start of her friendship w Rarity

I would have to go with Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash as they are the only ones that the show has said had a connection before the beginning of the show and have been friends since they were little.

Besides that I would have to go with Applejack and Rainbow Dash because of the extent of their friendly rivalry.

I'm surprised to learn that so many people consider Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy to be close.  Yes, they're both from Cloudsdale, but I don't think that necessarily means that they've been BFFs since they were fillies.  Even in the scene when Dash stood up for her, it seemed more about defying the bullies than anything else, and I got the sense that she would have done that no matter who was being bullied.

I disagree. Even if we disregard the whole 'they grew up together in Cloudsdale' part,I still feel they're the only dynamic that makes them feel more than friends(obviously barring Dragonshy), and I obviously don't mean in a romantic sense, but in an almost sister-like relationship

 

Personally I never got the appeal of Rarijack myself, as I always felt a lot of their interaction is based either on them getting annoyed with each other or with them fighting all the time, with the only exception I can think of being Sisterhooves Social(which is still the best showing of the pair and one of the best episodes in the show). In the end though, I still think they both work a lot better than other characters(Rarity with Fluttershy, and AJ with Twilight respectively)

I'd agree with the Pinkie - Rainbow, Rarity - Fluttershy and Twilight - AJ thing. Especially since they're both on the same level.

Rarity and Fluttershy has the same generosity and kindness to them, so they get along well. They care for each other and want nothing but good to one another, except for that one time in "Green Isn't Your Color". They both care of beauty in separate, but still quite similar ways. They both have good elements that come together quite nicely.

 

Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash both like a good laugh, they have the same humour and their pranks are grand. They also catch up to each other, Rainbow Dash is the fastest flying pony, but I'm PREEETTY sure Pinkie Pie is an even FASTER earth pony. They also support each other when it's needed, and remember when Rainbow Dash went away, and Pinkie was so devastated over not getting any mail. As I can recall, all other ponies of the mane 6 has also gone away, but Pinkie was never as nervous and enthusiastic about them as she was about Rainbow when she went. An example is also when Pinkie went batshit on her friends on her Birthday, and Rainbow went to get her. Because she's the only one who can handle Pinkie Pie that way.

 

Twilight and Applejack is kind of obvious, but I would also say that Twilight and Applejack's bond is sort of like a support and security for Twilight. They both also have a very realistic view on everything, that way they both get along pretty well. Applejack always helps everyone when they're feeling insecure and crazy about something, she's a great pedal to lean against, because she's so strong and independent herself. This is also one of many reasons why I love Applejack in general...

 

Same goes for Pinkie and Applejack, they get along very well and don't you dare forget the episode about them being cousins. One of my favorites!

Hard question. I think the writers don't want to convey this but it's clearly evident some ponys get along better with others.

 

Twilight's best friend is her brother

RD's best friend was Gilda for a while

Fluttershy seems to like animals more

Pinkie pie seems to like everyone...

 

I guess the only one would be AJ and Rarity. They started off not liking each other but now they know each other very well and respect each other and their work.

Im surprised people still put so much stock into Applejack and Rainbow Dash when it's a borderline dead dynamic and really has been since the end of S1, only time since then it's gotten any real spotlight was Castle-Mania and what we saw there was basically just a rehash of fall weather friends. I get the impression they were meant to be very close at first I guess, but it's obvious that idea was dropped and the crew decided they worked better with other characters.

 

For the show as a whole, generally Dash is ether with Pinkie or Fluttershy for the vast majority of her pair ups, Rarity is usually with Applejack but occasionally with Fluttershy while Applejack is usually with Rarity but gets lots of interaction and dynamic with Twilight whenever an adventure episode, happens as the Lancer of the group.

 

As for Best Friends, Rarity and Applejack, yeah they argue a lot but it's pretty obvious that their relationship is the one that's grown the most since the start of the show, they just seem to spend more time together than just about anyone other than Dash and Flutters, even in episodes not about them.

Green Isn't Your Color - Weekly spas, also Rarity said : "you are the best friend a pony could have" When Fluttershy agreed to model.

For me Twilight's closest friends are Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash they are always in the same merchandise,I have a lot of mlp merchandise when I was younger and it was always Twilight,Pinkie Pie,and Rainbow Dash plus Pinkie PIe and Rainbow Dash was the first friends she met in ponyville ,and then in The flawless song pinkie pie hugs twilight and Rainbow Dash

Not really,though they  both grew up in cloudsdale,Rainbow Dash would stand up for anyone,especially later on fluttershy stays in the ground and never went to cloudsdale again.
