spoiler Season 5 Trailer Are the equal signs mind control cutie marks?

From the trailer I think these ponies were robbed of their uniqueness and original talents. Remember the closing song in season 4's finale? Exactly, I think it's a perfect follow up. I am just worried because it seems the Mane 6 have equal marks in the trailer,lets hope they don't fall victim.

The second full trailer that they released shows the new antagonist creating a magical ball (teleportation perhaps). You see several of the Mane Six and several of the Vonnegut pones in the shot. Note that all have their cutie marks. You also see Twilight alone at one point following or being presented with the Element of Harmony lights. See is wearing the Equalist CM. I'm guessing that Twilight will not succumb to any mind control aspect of the spell/staff even though she is robbed of her CM. She escapes and figures out the solution. Returns and puts the town back to normal. Villain gets away.

Yes, I think that's that's the only thing they actually do.

But the mane 6 will eventually find a solution even if they get those cutie marks too.

I wasn't picking up any mind control vibes as much as I was dystopian brainwashing, sort of like what you see in books such as 1984 or The Giver.

 

An interesting short story that I highly recommend is called Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut, in the story everyone is brought down to their lowest possible potential to ensure absolute equality; everyone is made ugly to ensure nobody is prettier than anyone else, weights are added to the strong to keep them as burdened as the weak, and obnoxious white noise is played in the ears of the intelligent to make sure they can't think clearly. Now obviously this isn't exactly the same as I didn't see any ponies dragging around weights or wearing clown noses, however it could be an interesting direction for the show to take, maybe I'd even consider watching it.

Joking beside though, it wouldn't surprise me if they where actually mind controlled, not just because of the way they where smiling, but also because of the way they where looking. Maybe our villain is actually not a villain and maybe she is also just a puppet of the cutie mark cage magic.
