I haven't watched an episode of raw since February, and that was the episode with the Gauntlet match that single handedly revived Seth Rollins' career. I don't even know what the last one I watched before that was. Maybe the raw after mania 33? The one where Roman got booed out of the building.

Good thing, because the most recent episodes of RAW have been rated some of the worst in RAW history.

Also, there is rumors that Vince McMahon has lost interest in Seth Rollins. (After fans chanted "boring" at Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins' match at TLC, Vince was greatly frustrated and Rollins' push may be done and dusted prematurely.) There are also rumors that he is thinking of Kurt Angle vs Brock Lesnar (squash match) at next year's WrestleMania.

I have a prediction for why RAW is much suckier than usual. Vince wants to raise the stock of Smackdown up for when FOX eventually "takes over" the brand, they are more impressed by it. But why improve the product when you can make RAW (which is bulletproof, and has been on the USA Network for 50+ years, so they can afford to take a hit) suck, which makes people think, "Smackdown is awesome!", when in reality, Smackdown is just meh.

So here's something I did in my spare time.

What would some title reigns look like, if every one who held the belt was a one time champion? Who would defeat who and how long would each title reign last?

For this I bring you, the history of the Intercontinental title, if everyone held the belt only once.

    Night 2    Tampa, FL

  88. Ricochet    March 4, 2022    SmackDown    Miami, FL

Now this obviously changes things in terms of the longest title reign.

As we all know, Honky Tonk Man had the longest reign at 454 days.

But here, Pedro Morales would have more than double that reign at 967 days.

Zack Ryder would be the 2nd longest reigning champ at 597 days.

Rob Van Dam would be the 3rd longest reigning champion at 478 days.

This also changes what the shortest reign would've been. Originally it would've been Dean Shane Douglas at 11 minutes.

Now it's the Mountie, who would've been champion for two days.

Followed by Edge, who would loose the belt to D-Lo Brown after only three days.

Match ups for this alternate history I would've loved to have seen are:

  • Greg Valentine vs. Randy Savage in '86.
  • Rick Rude vs. Mr. Perfect at Superstars of Wrestling in '90.
  • Texas Tornado Kerry Von Erich vs. Bret Hart at SummerSlam '91.
  • Roddy Piper vs. The British Bulldog taking place in SummerSlam '92 at Wembly Stadium.

How about you? What do you all think of this alternate history of champions?

As the year is winding down, it's time to take stock in all the glorious matches that went down in 2018.

but while everypony is coming out with their top ten, I think we can do better.

Everypony, post your top 25 wrestling matches of 2018!

And if you can't think of twenty five, then what are you doing here?

For example, my list, in no particular order:

  1. Omega vs. Okada IV
  2. Omega vs. Ishii (G1 Climax)
  3. Omega vs. Naito
  4. Omega vs. Goto
  5. Ibushi vs. Naito
  6. Ibushi vs. Ishii
  7. Osprey vs. Scurl vs. Kushida vs. Hiromu
  8. Osprey vs. Scurl (Sakura Genesis)
  9. Osprey vs. Hiromu (The New Beginning)
  10. Osprey vs. Hiromu (Dominion)
  11. Osprey vs. Kushida
  12. Kushida vs. Chris Sabin
  13. Osprey vs. Flip Gordon
  14. Scurl vs. Okada
  15. Suzuki vs. Ishii (Power Struggle)
  16. Steph/ HHH vs. Rousey/ Angle
  17. Rollins vs. Miz vs. Balor
  18. NXT North American Title Ladder Match
  19. Birch/ Orkin vs. The Undisputed Era (Takeover: Chicago II)
  20. The Young Bucks/ Flip Gordon vs. SCU Ladder Match
  21. The Young Bucks vs. The Golden Lovers
  22. Ibushi vs. Hangman Paige
  23. Beer City Bruiser vs. Trent Beretta vs. Dalton Castle
  24. ZSJ vs. Ibushi (G1 Climax)
  25. Omega vs. Ibushi vs. Cody

Now I have a lot of NXT, Impact and Progress to catch up on, so I may be switching out some. there's a chance for stuff like Lynch vs. Flair Last Woman Standing, the Pentagon vs. Calahan Death Match, ZSJ vs. The A-Kidd or Osprey vs. Walter to take some spots. I mean it's been a good year for wrestling and we are spoiled for choice.

Anyways, your turn.

Okay hold off on your list making.

Serious breaking news on BTE!

And for those too lazy to watch the episode, I'll break it down for you.

See the source image

The Bucks, Cody and Hangman are all forming their own wrestling fed. And it's being backed by wrestling fan and the owner of the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars Tony Khan, one of the few people in the world with a bank account to rival the McMahon family.

And they've announced their first event.

See the source image

This is huge. There hasn't been a fed with the resources to challenge WWE in 18 years. They only thing that's missing is a TV deal, and with both Khans influence and potential big names like Y2J allegedly on board, it seems like a lock that will happen

@Denim&Venom After the success of "ALL IN" I'm confident that Cody Rhodes & BC can make AEW a success!

Will they ask Billy Corgan to help them promote it since Cody Rhodes seems to have a working relationship with the National Wrestling Alliance?

Good question. I can only imagine having Billy Corgan's endorsement will bring some eyes to the company. Maybe it'll actually be NWA: AEW? But at the same time I think Corgie has his own vision for the NWA, wanting to restore that classic feel to wrestling, and that sort of clashes with how the Elite do things. Plus he took the belt off Cody after less than two months. so while I can see some crossover, I don't think there will be too much involvement.

  1. I could see that being a (Hopefully better.) version of WWE's invasion storyline.
  2. Yeah, The Elite & NWA are two totally different styles for two different types of wrestling fans.

1. Problem with that is the NWA are still in a bit of a rebuilding phase. They caned all the contracts with all sorts of back yard indies and fired all the champions in the old regime, save for Tim Storm. They aren't exactly ready yet.

2. Kinda why I haven't been able to get into the NWA. Their style is a bit bland for me.

I feel the same way as terrible as that sounds coming from a "wrestling fan".

I feel bad that I don't find the NWA's way of doing things as interesting/entertaining as NJPW or WWE.

I mean there's a reason the NWA fell. They didn't evolve with the times or innovate. It's been that way for over a quarter century. They were too entrenched in the past and every time they tried to go with the future, it felt forced or botched, like their run with TNA. Maybe these are just growing pains. Maybe in this day in age going with the past is a niche in of itself. but that niche isn't for me.

And don't feel bad. That's not on you. It's on them for not catching your attention. Just like it's not your fault WWE is such a mess these days.

It also doesn't help that it looks like NWA films their programs in a place that the AWA would've used during the 1980's.

Yeah those venues are tiny. And not even tiny in a Murphy wreck center or 2300 arena kind of way. Those look like buildings that shouldn't even be hosting wrestling.

You're right.  The Showboat Sports Pavilion (Where the AWA taped their shows.) was part of a casino.

It has a very staged vibe to them. Like the Impact tapings or the old Georgia championship Wrestling episodes. It all looks extra fake.

They probably gave out tickets for free so the "Wrasslin' fans" didn't care how realistic it looked.
