Ooh, story time! Kinda. So Aria has always been my go to name for characters in games and stuff when I don't want to use my real name, and that kinda just transferred over to my OC. Then the Skysong part got added so she had a last name that sounded kinda nice, and fits pretty well with her character. I was thinking about changing it at some point, but I've grown to like her name too much to want to change it now.

Mad Hatter/Silver Dreams

Cause,I've been called a Mad Hatter before. And since my OC is based off of me,I decided why not.

Plus,I thought it was quite a fitting name.

 

As for his original name Silver Dreams. Due to his silver colored fur.

 

Windrose

When I came up with this OC there was one thing I was certain of. And that was that he was gonna like roses a lot. On a road trip,I tried different names with Rose in them. None of them stuck. Except, Windrose.

It fits good with his personality,so I went with it.

 

Fun Fact: There's a street here,that's actually named Windrose.

Starchase was a hard one to think up. Star to show guidance, hope and light in the dark. Chase for determination, persistence. Also chasing stars is kinda impossible but ambitious nevertheless. So I though the name would stick and it did.

I named my mare OC (meant to facilitate a vicarious lesbian relationship with Rainbow Dash) Lime Squeeze both because her family owned a lime orchard and because her Cutie Mark could possibly be mistaken for a lime. < _<  Don't think too much about it.  Also, she's green.  Limes are green.  Bam.

Camilla -- I was stupid and thought it was the name of a flower (camellia). Ended up being an actual name, but rooted in mythology (?) involving the daughter of a king who grew into a warrior/huntress. Ended up just keeping it.

Trajectory Line -- Named after a talent for predicting projectile paths (was trying to pick an interesting, noncliche talent for an earth pony).

Pebble Road -- Because 'Pebble' is cute, and she's kinda plucky, so it seemed to fit

"Smiley" -- He's not sane and smiles a lot, actual name undecided.

Stray Arrow -- Kinda indiscriminately flirty pony, reference to Cupid's arrow.

Kyoshi is the Japanese name for 'Lonely Child' if I recall. Me, I am a child at heart and I am quite the introvert. Mix those two together and you get Kyoshi. Lonehearted is the last name and falls in the same category. Introverted with a childhood of few friends equals that.

Well I've gotten jokes on  my name thinking it's just two drinks mixed together, but the reason I chose Brisk was for the definition as i wanted something that went along with my history of being in track and cross country.

I haven't actually got artwork for my OC yet and don't know what I'm going to do for a cutie mark, but that is the explanation behind the name

Originally FrostyMischief was my OC's first name but this was back in 2012 and I kind of just slapped him in for the sake of showing I like the MLP fandom.

But in 2014 I finally remade him. How I got the name? Through my other friend (who I don't think is on the forums) I just said that I needed a better name, you know, just as random conversation and he suddenly said Howling Wind. And I don't know why but it stuck. And honestly I love storms and winds that, well, howl.  

 

His cutiemark is different due to my own influence and, well you notice some pony names don't match their cutie marks. I still am working on his story but hope it sounds as cool as it does in my head

My OC was named Toast because I like toast. He was set to resemble toast with butter and burned edges. His big wings are set to represent my longboard. If I didn't ride a board in general, he would've just been an earth pony since I like agriculture.

 

What he would be like in the show? Well, he would constantly fly at high speeds and glide down hills. He would also do sharp turns by placing one of his wings on the ground, grinding the ground with the outer feather, while the other wing is in the air. Basically, the same way people with longboards turn when going down hill.

I did it because I come from a big family in Iceland called Hrafnagils family. That is pretty much my house. Hrafn is the Icelandic word for Raven. I translated Hrafnagil to Ravenholt. That became my Minecraft name, Jonas_Ravenholt. Then I decided to make an OC so I decided to use my youtube name which is Rave (me and my friend decided to shorten Ravenholt and have it as my first name). The last name, Darkmane, well.... it came out of nowhere really. I just tried to think of something that sounded dark or evil.

First of all, I think I need to make it clear that Serenade is a ponified version of myself.  As for his name, I named him after his cutie mark (aka, my one true passion) which is a micropnone and represents his (my) love and talent for singing.  So I went on Google and looked up "names that mean music" and Serenade was the most awsome sounding name I could find.

Mushiko: I love insects, and Mushiko is a kirin with an affinity for them. Japanese because she's a kirin, but Mushi (insect) + ko (diminutive/small/child) = Mushiko (little insect or insect child.)
