Two of my friends I was able to get into the show. One was more a case of being neutral beforehand but still, it counts right?  :P

Still disturbed that one of them started watching the show after I showed them Smile HD

I honestly almost never talk to anyone outside of the fandom about MLP or my love for it. I wouldn't try to turn a hater, either. I feel like it's just a waste of time. People will hate what they want to hate and I'm not going to put any of my time, emotions, or energy into dealing with that. Let them deal with it themselves.

That being said, on very rare occasions I may recommend MLP to someone I feel close to if I'm not already aware of their interest or lack thereof in it.

My mother, and my best friend weren't really out right haters, but they just didn't get it and would say rude things. It wasn't till I got my mother to sit down and watch a couple episodes (Winter Wrap Up, Return of Harmony, Keep Calm and Flutter On) that my mother realized it was actually a good show. She's not a brony, but she's supportive, and doesn't get annoyed when I talk to her about it.
My best friend sort of scoffed at it till he realized I was a brony, he didn't really understand it, and made quite a few assumptions based on rumors. I told him how much I liked it because of the story, the lessons, how nice the community had been to me, and that it was a one of the few feminist cartoons I'd seen, and convinced him to watch it. I showed him the episode 'Maud Pie'- he's declared her his favorite pony. I've also showed him some of the fanart and music people have done, and he's also seen my own art, crafts, and the original characters I've worked on- including a dracoequus oc I made him. He's really supportive now, especially because he found out his son is a brony.

Most people I know that are haters don't understand the show, or the community. It's all about ignorance. Once they realize how great the show is, and how wonderful bronies are as a whole, they usually move beyond the realm of hater to at least being understanding.

I did a friend of mine who kept making remarks and stuff and told em

to stop hating and try to understand and watch like ONE eps.  Well he

did and he likes the show,  not a full on brony but he gives it some

cred it deserves in the style and the the story and etc!

I tried to get some of my friends to watch it. It wasn't their thing. They were really never haters though. In the end I lost motivation to try anymore. Whenever someone asks me if I suggest they watch it though, obviously I say yes.

These days, the world has a tendency of taking itself much too seriously.

It is my intention to not follow suit.

Made another one of my friends love the show last week. He and his friend used to hate bronies, now he loves them. I convinced him to watch it with videos like these

I've actually never met someone that hates bronies. I have gotten three people to watch my little pony though...

When it comes to converting other people to Bronydom, I've only really mannaged that with my 7 year old little sister. Although if we're talking about getting haters to f#(& off, I know the perfect thing you could say to them. It goes as follows.

Ahem

Roses are red.

Violets are blue.

I have five fingers

And the middle one's for you.

Actually, only one person, my brother in-law...

Now if anyone talks crap to me in my family he defends me...

(My family is very against the fact I like ponies)

Their loss, more ponies for you to love

I was a hater back in mid-late 2011 i watched all of season 1 to get information on bronies to make fun of them, then season 2 rolled around, then lesson zero aired, and everything changed

I think i may have converted a friend of mine by using a slightly violent animation...can't remember which one though...

Brohoof /)

Personally, I haven't converted anyone since I'm new and no one knows I casually watch a few episodes.

There are people out there that are between neutral and curious and mystified. These are the people who can be given a gentle nudge and pony hugs and explaining that most fans are casual fans and suggesting it instead of forcing it is good.

The biggest obstacle is indeed the stereotype that the show is girly and has no action. Like using caring words or asking what's wrong and saying "we're here for you." .

Though a nudge here and there is ok, at the end of the day, they would need to seek it out for themselves.

But if you really want to convert someone, try with insomniacs talking with them late at night. Insomnia allows one to try almost anything.

I haven't turned any haters.

It doesn't work with haters! Try with neutral and also people who are curious about the fandom yet mystified. People who are confused about it and think it's girly with no action or says there's no storyline have only misconceptions. If they are open minded and get explained it, they might give it a chance. An action episode and a YouTube video with a normal looking fandom might melt away the stereotype and then they may like it after all. If they don't, that's ok too. We love and tolerate people with various interests and generally believe that people should like whatever they want. Talk about the values within the fandom.

When society shifts from stereotypes to realizing it's ok for an adult guy to like ponies, then people could give a fairer chance.

Think about it, back then, people thought star trek was odd. Now it's almost the norm.

I only did it once, on one of my best friends. Now, I just think that it is not in my rights to force other people to like what I like.

None. I don't pay attention to detractors of the show, if they don't watch the show, then they're the one's missing out. No sweat off my back.
