How most people see Lyra as a character in general?

So my question is, how do most of you view Lyra? I know she's a bg pony, but just let me know what you think she would be like? And please do not refer to fics; i want YOUR ideas, not what other people have made her out to be.

I like to view her as an eccentric and loony but well-intentioned character who is passionate at what she loves to do. She is also best friends with Bon Bon/Sweetie Drops.

 

For her hobbies, I do see her talent as a musician, but she also loves to read books about Equestrian mythology and rumours.

Well... it's a matter of taste. Personally... I love Lyra fanon fascination with humans in fan fiction. Not always though, I love twilight Sparkle x human a lot more than Lyra x human.

 

That said... there can be more interesting things for her to do than just slobber over humans. XD

I agree. I also always saw her as a bit of a conspiracy theorist personally. The sort everyone would just roll their eyes at her ideas, but maybe those ideas might have a grain of truth to them. Her love of humans equaling many humans love of bigfoot, and her being similar to a fan of cryptozoology and discussing the latest 'human sightings'. Perhaps trading blurry human sighting photos with her fellow crytozoology friends.

I can't say many like that fan portrayal of her. But its interesting nonetheless. Bon Bon's real name is Sweetie Drops, but people decided to call her that.

Bon Bon is more recognisable and easier to remember. Although I'm aware that her real name is Sweetie Drops, I still prefer Bon Bon as it has been her name longer.

 

What kind of fan portrayal do you prefer of Lyra then? The only one that I can think of that doesn't relate to her loony side is in a comic series known as Heartstrings.

Knowing virtually nothing about her, or the way fans imagine her, as I haven't read any fanfics involving her, I kind of imagine her as dark, stoic, and taciturn, yet underneath that is a deeply passionate mare that few have gotten to know because they don't reach out to her.  I don't know, that's just what I picture.  I've been told that the fanfic "Background Pony" is one of the best around, and I believe that about Lyra.  I want to read it, but I don't have the time.  That thing is a serious piece of writing.  Proper novel length.

But her fanon childish eccentric fun-loving nature is something that I'd definitely headcanon. She's in the BG well known for her wide grins and bouncing about. Hard to imagine her as a serious pony at all.

Well to me she is like Tavi is to Vinyl as to Bon Bon is to Lyra. Most fics she is portrayed as Bon Bon's roommate. Her talent is playing the harp so I would assume she is musically inclined. However that is all I can speculate honestly. They have not really delved into the show about her character all that much. So all you really have left to go on is from fan fictions and such.

I asked because i want everyone's personal opinions, not from what they read in a fic or what fans have made her out to be. So basically, your own idea of her; even if its a speculation.

 

For instance, i've seen how she is in background sometimes, often appearing relaxed and hanging out with her friends; even inviting others to her friend's parties if allowed. And her reaction to a parasprite eating her muffin was sad and i felt bad for her. Seems her feelings are easily hurt if given the correct conditions, but the artists seem to change her from a sort of teal color to mint green(or i'm just not good at identifying colors.)

I see her being natural, expressive and "strangely enough" more human than most other ponies. Less of a static character, mostly because of her being a background pony, there's a lot of freedom to be creative.

 

I imagine her doing daily activities, and living a healthy life like any other girl would do. Without any special trait in particular. I don't see her playing any kind of instrument neither. Mostly going to university, speaking her mind on tesis, somehow troubled by her daily chores and busy life, sharing her day details with friends. Also doing some biking on a cold sunday morning, with a blouse the color of her pony form coat.

My idea is just that she is a regular background pony  . Hasbro has given some more thought into her (and Bonbon) for the fans I think, during Rainbow Rocks, but I still don't think that really allows me to form some sort of opinion about her. Without being influenced by fanfics or any of that stuff, it leaves me with what the show has depicted of her and that is really.... nothing really .

I kind of think she may be obsessed with love and romance. Her Cutie Mark is the shape of a harp-the kind often carried by angels and/or cupids, which could signify interest in both music and romance.

That would also tie in with why she was one of Cadence's original bridesmaids in Canterlot Wedding.
