What are your thoughts on 3d pony artwork?

Just another form of artwork. When it comes to art, style is one thing but the concept itself is very important as well. If what you're asking for is pure quality, let me show you this:

If it's nicely detailed, then it's interesting, but I'm more fond towards 2D pony art.

I think they are creepy as hell and disproportionate, but that's just my two cents.

 

There are some three dimensional designs outside the SFM models that are very accurate and detailed though.

I can't even do 3D drawings on AutoCAD lol
